I'm not even gonna touch on the self-righteous expression on her face because I truly don't care for it. But in that guarded, angered look is hurt. I won't lie, she looks hurt that she can't trust him. For her all the forces are working against him and he has admitted his guilt to her, but even then she can't believe that he didn't do this on purpose. That's her prerogative to stand on, even if it's wrong.
What matters to me that even after their conversation in the bedroom, even after he lays it all out for her again, he comes back down ready to be arrested and in the room full of twenty, his eyes only find hers. He is only speaking to her, for her. He doesn't care about anyone else in the room, what they have to say or claim. He is speaking to the person he wanted by his side but chose not to be, and because she has lifted all traces of belief in him away, he punishes himself for her. She thinks that he needs to pay for his crime, and so he has, without just cause brought himself down to hell for her. Rishabh Bajaj has no ego when it comes to his wife, no pride. Because he chose her. Out of anyone he could have ever had, anyone he could have ever picked for him and his daughter, he. chose. her.
It doesn't matter that she's misguided, or that her judgement is seeped in prejudice and falsities, he chose her and if he needs to be dragged through hell to get her to see him as Rishabh, then Bajaj will do it. That too with a smile.
