I agree. She's not an OTT actress and the ocean's of tears, inconsolable sobbing, insufferable screaming, that's basically a requirement of primetime heroines, is not something Erica is affective in. That being said, what her role demands, is not something she can bring to the table. It's why her scenes with Kuki and Bajaj work well, Karan can match her quiet acting well and Erica is very natural as a mother.
In KRPKAB, Erica was surprisingly warm and affective on screen. It was her first show, she was incredibly emotive especially with the eyes, and she made you root for her. She was very, very compelling because the material that was given to her suited her. In a show like this, Erica has really tried to find her footing as Prerna, but it's been incredibly hard for her to play the modern/new age Prerna, when what's demanded of Prerna is not something Erica herself relates with. Because very realistically as a woman Erica and KZK2 Prerna's age, I can't relate to the theatrics either.
Precisely. Whatever I saw of her earlier show, she brought an edge to her role. Here the legacy of Prerna doesn't suit her. It is ironical how back then Prerna was one of the most empowered females heroines on primetime but now playing the character with the same moralities and ethics is regressive and not really convincing enough. If they had given her a modern spin which didn't require breaking down every 2 seconds for no reason and constantly getting harassed and spoken down to,maybe Erica could have played the modern Prerna well. There is a calm in there that's very Prerna but that's all there is.
