55 lakhs is something kavin could have paid off by working in saravanan meenatch itself. But the problem is his mother and grandmother might not be fully liable in this case. But since 2 accused are already dead, they whole liability has come on kavin S family now. So his family might have been reluctant to pay.

Other party must have thought this is the right time (BB is the talk of the town?)and pushed the case further.
