we can have different opinions, but to suggest that Priyanka was endorsing war is something I can't take seriously. I never suggested that she is a war-mongerer. Check my post again. Her one tweet isn't that powerful but that she came across as a hypocrite. That's what I only meant throughout the argument. Just like Mahira is a hypocrite for suddenly turning against the country where she earned her livelihood. She kept mum and acted ignorant before but now all of the sudden feels depressed over the Kashmir issue.

I shouldn't have added Hamza though. He is a war-mongerer definitely. Maybe that gave a different connotation to my post.

Plenty of articles on the internet that say so. And the link you gave is also just a viewpoint. It doesnt really refute anything.

It's one POV against another if you will. Tagore's grandfather Dwarkanath was an opium agent of the East India Company. He also established the biggest brot hels of Kolkata to supply women and kids to the British troops and officers. The family was a sponsored family...we have several today for one to be able to collate with contemporary examples.

He received a Knighthood. Sycophancy is a common hallmark of sponsored families. That's their veritable bread and butter. Ah but never disturb the status quo.

Like I said, and here I reiterate, it's just one viewpoint against another. There's a very distinct possibility that he did write it to extol George V. And keeping his family's long term association and his Knighthood and Nobel Prize in mind, I'm inclined to go with this POV.

Refute as in deny not disprove. Tagore himself denied it. Song was first sung at Congress session. I am more likely to believe Tagore and historians than some random articles on internet popping up 100 years later. You can believe the other one sure.

Of course he denied it. Imagine him saying "Oh yes I wrote the song for George V". And historians havent exactly advanced any evidence to support their claims. 100 years ago when India was a slave...I'm sure the benevolent white invaders always stood for the truth and free speech. I've always tilted towards free thinking myself,..glaring inaccuracies and inconsistencies leap out like dancing leprechauns or the more sedate elephants in tiny rooms,..but that's just me. I know most people rather outsource thinking...

Well they haven't provided any evidence because there doesn't exist any. What evidence can you provide for that anyway unless somebody can peek in Tagore's mind, nothing. Indian newspaper articles at that time clearly mentioned the intent of songs sung at the Congress session. Nothing to do with white invaders btw. Tagore denied it although very late. Not saying Tagore is some saint or anything but trying to question intent at such later stage is basically a futile exercise by conspiracy theorists. Nothing else.

@bold I appreciate that. I have read many of your beliefs in the past, nothing related to this topic but I do hope you get to see inaccuracies and inconsistencies in your beliefs sometime in the future. I wish you luck and hope for good luck to me as well in case I have written similar things.
