People didnt go to see Sanju about his rich life or his glamorous life. They went to see it because Sanju was a terrorist and people wanted to know all about his paapi life.

I am referring to films like for example - Dil Dhadkne Do, Dilwale etc . No one seems to be interested in the glamorous songs/ exotic locations anymore.

Did you ask every person who watched Sanju the reason on why they are watching the film? If not then STFU. People can watch films for different reasons.

De De Pyar De was shot in London and was a story of a rich businessman. That film too is a hit.

Point is that films on rich people are not flopping.

DDPD - was not a big hit - did not reach 100cr

its always a trend, 1950s-60s were quiet classy films.

70s became - action and OTT like Sholay

80s again with amol palekar, it was realistic cinema

90s - family movies sanskaar types or Switzerland grand OTT like SLB

After 2005 I think its been mixed bag..

but now realistic cinema and content is winning.

I feel people will eventually get bored of this too and again move to filmy cinema

Agree except 70s era gave rise to parallel movies, art- house cinema,

Amol Palekar movies about the common man and Hrishikesh Mukerjee movies

In the 80s they started to decline

Maybe people get their fill of glamourous locations and people online and by watching TV

They want realism on the big screen

I don't connect with avengers type of movies too at least not now, but I can only tell you that fast and furious or avenger produces thrill and excitement due to their plot not while the kind of movie you mentioned in your post try to be realistic of today's generation who the filmmaker thinks of having continuous flings, alcohol. Today's young generation is more busy making their career rather than doing befikare or dil dhadakne do things. Of course rich people would feel connected to it but not the middle classes.

Well you need to make a good and interesting movie, half baked, seld indulging movies like DDD will not capture the attention of masses.

Big Hit or Small hit, it was still a hit.

It wasnt a clean hit and people watched that movie because of the old-guy young girl concept.
