Coming to the episode today. Amid this madness called KzK 2, there are still characters which make me feel for them.
The call of duty for Instance
Their marriage was a deal. His leaving the Basus’s, her marrying him. A barter was clearly made. Prerna is an emotional infidel. But her matrimonial loyalty is sacrosanct. It’s there, her loyalty towards him and this marriage. But, her love is pure for Kuki. That certainly Bajaj can see, feel and can’t help but appreciate as well. He wanted Kuki’s mother and he truly got it. He does his bit with utmost sincerity. Forgetting ruining the Basu’s and above all his fierce dedication as a husband on papers. He informs her about his whereabouts. This, we see consistently from day 1. She might not have access to his plans, his thoughts, his emotions and his reasons because he is a man of few words but he makes sure that she knows where he is and where is heading towards, so that she knows that she will never be abandoned. He is there with her, watching her, having her back. Not emotionally but as a protocol for duty.
Given the patriarchy and societal mood boards we follow, this is the most natural reaction for a man. They are man and wife on papers. They might not share any emotional, physical or temperamental bond but he is sharp and she is pregnant. He is her societal caretaker ( I hate this idea and do not condone this at any point of time.) But, this is how society believes that a man woman equation should be. So, he is just doing what should come naturally to him.
I am there to take care of you. (Do not read this as any emotional care or bonding). It’s a simple gesture so that she knows he is around and not left her in the middle of something.
Regarding Veena. I somehow strongly feel that he relates to Veena and her hardships given his history with his mother. Also, a sense of liability. Prerna is super nice to his family. He just wants to balance the barter. Their relationship is purely a barter! The moment Prerna tries to throw off the balance, he tries to quickly jump the gun subconsciously and wants to do things that restores the balance.
He knows about Prerna’s emotional infidelity. He is not bothered, he doesn’t care because he doesn’t want the rights but it would be a treat to watch when he falls for her. Will he accept that emotional infidelity?
Will he not want her completely? Will jealousy strike or the cool and mature Bajaj understand? All this and much more is awaited. If only this was not an Ekta show.
P. S- very clearly put, please do not confuse the word Infidelity as a negative connotation. It’s just to express that she is abiding to the social contract called marriage but her heart beats for someone else.
