No idea about the history behind it😆 Could be because there is no concept of joint family system here unlike India...so less chances of phoonk sessions getting disturbed due to lack of locks😆

Even in NZ they do not have locks in rooms😐 this tym wen I went my niece opened the door early in the morning and came in..her parent's room was right infront of ours... luckily I was busy on IF😂🙄
