What I thought about the sequence is Kalyani was happy that Malhar is going to save her Aai and so that she hugged him out of happiness and proud. On the other hand, Malhar was not expecting this. When she hugged him it was kind of a shock to him but when he engrossed in it, he probably found his sukoon in her. The storm inside himself has got some peace thru her. So, he looks like at peace whereas Kalyani later got shocked when he hugged her back.
But they both were bang on with their emotions and acting. Loved the scene so much. It was not just a physical thing, it has deep meaning.

This scene was a bliss... I m not getting over this... And indeed he was way shocked by the sudden hug but then what he did was very nice and he felt sUkoon when he hugged her back and guess kallu realized when he hugged her back that in happiness she hugged him.... And the way they were looking at each other was....and when they broke the hug his hand was like that only for sometime... He dint want her to go away... Then he composed himself.....
That scene has more of emotions than physical..... And I guess that's what is meant to have in any couple... No wonder sometimes CVS surprises us by these kind of scens....
