“What the f**k Rey?” Sharon shrieked. Rey grinned innocently at her. “What was that for?” She sat up straight on the pool chair.

“I was bored.” He shrugged.

“You don’t throw a bucket full of water on someone if you’re bored!” She got up and looked him in the eye.

“Then what do you do?” He smirked.

“You do this!” She pushed him into the pool and within minutes everyone was in the pool.

“What are you doing up there?” Rey asked Taani, who was sitting at the edge of the pool with her legs dipped in.

“Just..” She shrugged.

He stood in between her legs with his back towards her and she leant forward and wrapped her hands around his neck.

“Yahan akele bore ho jaogi.”

“Akeli kahan hoon. Tum jo ho mere saath.” She supported her head on his shoulder.

“Exactly mein jo hoon tumhare saath.” He smirked inwardly and piggybacked her.

“Rey!” She shrieked.

“I know my name luv.” He winked and released her off his back. She sploshed into the water.

She grabbed onto him and he wrapped his arm around her.

“Rey ki yeh side pehle kabhi dekhi hai?” Aashi questioned adoring the couple.

“Isse pehle kabhi pyaar hua hai?” Sharon counter questioned her.

“Why am I the centre of attention?” Rey asked hearing them.

“We aren’t accustomed to seeing you like this.” Vicky answered.

“Get used to it.” Swayam patted on his back.

“Kaise yaar? Abhi tak hazam nahi ho raha hai ki iski shaadi hone wali hai. Iski? Kaise?” Bharat said.

“Tum sab aise kyun bol rahe ho?” Taani asked unsure.

“Taani, galath mat samajhna par it was kind of a known fact that Rey ki shaadi sabse last hogi. He just wasn’t interested.” Neha answered.

“Aur abhi tak toh Armaan bhai ki bhi shaadi nahi hui hai. So him getting married..” Rinni was finding for the right words to say.

“Is not even a consideration!” Simmi completed for her.

All this while they talked about marriage, Taani felt Rey’s hold get tighter on her. She looked at him and he had a calm smile across his lips.

“But I have to tell you, agar yahan par sabse dukhi koi hai toh voh hai..” Nil said cheekily.

“Let me guess. Aashi?” Taani said rolling her eyes which made Aashi laugh as Nil’s joke backfired on him.

“No!” He spoke indifferent.

“Then who?” Aashi narrowed her eyes at him.

“Simmi, obviously!” Nil smirked at Simmi.

“Nil if you utter another word, I swear I’ll kill you!” Simmi threatened him.

“Mein terese darta hoon kya?” Nil brushed it off and continued, “Did you guys know that Simmi had a huge crush on Rey in college and was going to propose him to be her boyfriend.”

“Enough!” Simmi raged at him.

“Kyun? Mein jhoot thodi bol raha hoon.You had only told me this.” He said.

“I had told you because I trusted you.That was a huge mistake on my part!” She stormed into the house.

“Okay. That escalated fast.” Rey mumbled.

Taani looked at him and was confused as he didn’t look fazed at all.

“Nil think before you speak man. Kya jarurat thi yeh sab ki?” Swayam sighed.

“How am I supposed to know that she would take it this seriously?” Nil raised his shoulders.

“You wouldn’t cause you’re an idiot.” Rey swatted Nil’s head and got out of the pool.

“Iss sab ke baare mein mujhe bhi nahi pata tha. How did you know all this?” Rinni looked at Nil.

“No use talking to him, Rinni. Any idea where she must be?” Rey asked Rinni.

“Terrace pe aur kahan.” Nil answered.

“Thanks.” Rey left shaking his head.

“I’ll take your leave as well.” Taani got to the end of the pool.

“Humari company itni boring lagi tujhe?” Vicky questioned.

“No Vicky, aisa nahi hai. I was feeling hungry so I..” Taani started to explain.

“I’m just kidding.” Vicky pulled her into a side hug and shook her. “Tu darti hai kya hum log se?” He further asked.

“Nahi voh mein bas..” Taani looked down embarrassed.

“Chal koi nahi. Tera darr jald hi bhaag jayega. I guarantee you. Bas iss chutiye se durr rehna.” He pointed at Nil.

“Oye chutiya kisko bola be?” Nil challenged Vicky.

“Before these two start their pansy fights, let's leave!” Sharon walked out followed by everyone.

“You love him, don’t you?” Rey sat next to Simmi.

“Tumhe kaise?” She looked baffled at him.

“Teri shakal pe saaf dikhta hai.”

“Usse kyun nahi dikhta?”

“Andha hai voh. But why Nil?”

“Pyaar decide karke thodi hota hai. Voh toh bas..”

“Ho jata hai.” Rey completed for her and smiled. “Now what?” He further asked.

“What what?” She raised her brow.

“Usse kab bata rahi ho?” He asked.

“Never. Forget this, I’m not even going to talk to him!” She flared her nostrils.

“I get that you’re angry at him. But I know you. Which is why I’m asking, kab bataogi usse?”

“Himmat nahi hoti, Rey.”

“Mujhe batane ki toh hui thi.” He gave her a lopsided smile.

“How stupid was I back then!” She covered her face. “Temporary crush tha and I thought you were the one!”

“Imagine agar mein haan kehta toh?” He chuckled.

“Tum nahi kehte.” She half smiled at him. “You are a person who will never say yes if you don’t mean it. I knew that. Isiliye shayad himmat karke I had made a complete fool of myself.”

“I wouldn’t say complete, but yeah you did.” He said and she punched his arm.

“How did you manage to keep it from everyone?” She questioned.

“Promise jo kiya tha.” He encircled his arm around her shoulder.

“Uss idiot ka muh band kyun nahi rehta?” She said gritting her teeth. “Already problems kya kam thi jo isne aur badha di.” She sulked.

“Problems?” He furrowed his brows together.

“Taani.” She answered.

“Taani?” He raised a brow.

“Well, your girlfriend doesn’t like me much. Abh iss sab ke baad I don’t know how things will be between us.”

“I’m in the same boat buddy. She doesn’t like me much either.” He chuckled.

“Shut up alright, she loves you.”

“I know!” He gave a dreamy smile.

“Oh God! It’s so weird to see you blush.” Simmi made a face.

“So don’t!”

“Atcha Rey,” She looked at him and he gestured her to continue. “Taani se baat kar lena na please. I don’t know how to apologize to her.”

“Kis baat ke liye?” He looked puzzled.

“Tere birthday pe I unintentionally said a lot of things to her. Which was not right on my part.” She explained.

“For which you’ve already apologized.” Taani said from the terrace entrance. They both turned to her.

“Taani, I..” Simmi was fumbling to form a sentence.

“Meine sab suna. Sorry for eavesdropping, but I just wanted to know if you were okay.” Taani smiled at Simmi.

“You are okay with this fact?” Simmi questioned.

“I’m pretty sure that you weren’t the only girl who had a crush on him. Abh mujhe sabse thodi problem hone lagegi?” Taani raised her shoulders. “Also, I know for certain that there was no one in his past. Toh yeh sab news se mere affect hone ka koi reason hi nahi banta.”

“Rey, you’re damn lucky bro.” Simmi smiled wide at him.

“Bro?” Taani looked at her.

“Bro, buddy same thing.” Simmi brushed off.

“Okay, now I’m weirded out.” Taani made a face.

“Ew! Taani!” Simmi left scowling at her.

“Tum kahan ja rahi ho?” Rey stopped Taani from leaving.

“Bhook lagi hai.” She pouted.

Rey pressed his lips together and broke eye contact. He closed his eyes and exhaled to clear his mind off the thought which popped up in his head. A smile formed on his lips which Taani noticed and she instantly figured out what was running in his head.

“Rey, you’re disgusting!” She gritted her teeth to stop the smile which started to form on her face.

“Sorry, I just couldn’t help.” He chuckled shaking his head.

“Thank you for not saying it out loud.” She said with fake anger while he just looked down and laughed. “Chale?”

“Where is all our stuff?” Taani asked as she entered the bedroom with Rey.

“I don’t..”

Before Rey could finish his sentence, they heard the door lock behind them.

“What the hell?” Rey tried to open the door but failed.

“I love the taste of revenge. It's so sweet!” They heard Sharon’s voice.

“F**k you Sharon, open the door!” Rey banged the door hard.

“Darwaza toh kal hi khulega.” Sharon smirked. “There is a change of clothes inside the cupboard. Have fun.”

“Sharon!” Rey yelled.

“He is mad.” Swayam told Sharon.

“I know.” She smirked at him and they walked off.

“Umm.. Rey?” Taani called him.

“Yes?”

She showed the pair of clothes which Sharon had left for them. There were three pieces in total. A satin red camisole and bottom for Taani and black sweat shorts for Rey.

“She is going to have it from me!” He gritted his teeth and flared his nostrils.

“Rey, relax. We’ll manage with the clothes we are wearing right now.” Taani tried to calm him down.

“These are still wet. Iss mein raat bhar soye toh beemar pad jayenge!”

“We’ll figure something out. You please calm down.” Taani made him sit down.

“Why is it getting cold?”

“We are drenched. Going into the pool again after dinner was a bad idea.” Taani shook her head and rubbed her palms to warm them.

“But this is too..” He stopped midsentence. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” He flared looking at something.

Taani looked at him and then at the wall he was staring. Her eyes popped out seeing 18 degrees on the air conditioner. “No wonder itni thandi lag rahi hai. Where is the remote?” She asked him.

“Tumhe kyun lagta hai voh remote chod ke gayi hai?” Rey rolled his eyes.

“Can’t we turn it off somehow?” She rubbed her arms.

“The main switch it too high up. And I’m pretty sure jis hisab se usne planning kari hai, room mein aisa kuch nahi hai jis se we can reach there.” Rey held his head and pulled his hair.

“It’s getting very cold.” Rey noticed Taani rubbing her arms.

“Go in, take a hot shower and change. Warna beemar pad jaogi.” Rey instructed her.

“Yeah.” She nodded and went into the bathroom.

An hour passed by but Taani hadn’t come out. Rey knocked on the door. There was no answer. He knocked again. Still no answer. He held the door knob and contemplated opening the door. It turned on its own and Taani stepped out.

“Sorry voh..” She looked at him and saw him gulp taking in her look. “Rey?” She said feebly.

“I’m sorry.” He turned around. She saw his shoulders moving as he took sharp short breaths. “I’ll freshen up and come.” He quickly went inside.

“That was so embarrassing.” Taani thought as she crawled onto the bed and hid under the comforter.

Rey came out of the bathroom wearing the shorts. He threw the towel on a chair and corrected his messy hair. Taani inhaled sharply taking in his look.

“It’s chilly in here.” Rey shivered breaking Taani’s gaze.

“There’s just one comforter.” She said looking at him from the corner of her eyes.

“I’m sorry yaar Taani. I knew they would play pranks but..” He sat down at the edge of the bed holding his head.

She sat up straight on the bed caring less about the comforter. She crawled and sat next to him. She removed his hands from his head and leaned on his shoulder. He encircled his arm around her and embraced her. Her hand rested on his chest and sparks ran through their bodies.

“We should go to sleep.” She suggested after a while.

“Thank you.” He held her hand and kissed it.

“Why?” She asked and he looked at her confused. She continued, “Are you the only one who is allowed to support the other when needed?”

“Taani, I..”

“Good night Rey.” She tucked herself in.

“Are you mad at me?” He asked.

“Yes.” She replied turning away from him to hide the smile forming on her lips.

He quietly got in and went to sleep facing the other side. Taani found his behavior weird. On other occasions he would easily catch her lie, but today he was behaving differently. She remembered his hold on her in the pool. Even though his face was calm, his hold wasn’t. She decided to sleep on it and talk to him in the morning.

“Mmm..” Taani stirred in her sleep. Something was restricting her movement.

She struggled to move when her back collided against someone. The hold around her waist which wasn’t letting her move, got tighter. She opened her eyes as a reflex and took in the room she was in. She calmed when she realized where she was and tilted her head back to find Rey sleeping peacefully. She looked down and saw his arm holding her firmly. She smiled warmly and placed her arm on his.

“I always dreaded this situation. But now that I’m living it, I feel so peaceful. God, I love him!” She thought and her eyes grew wide at the realization. “I love him, I love Rey!” She grinned.

“Good morning luv.” Rey dreamily looked at Taani.

“Did I wake you up?” She pouted.

“I’m glad you did.” He said widening her smile. “Kya hua itni kyu chehek rahi ho?”

“Koi problem?” She turned to face him.

“Bilkul bhi nahi.” He pulled her to him.

“Good.” She booped his nose.

“You seem different today.”

“Don’t like it?”

“Love it!” He grinned leaning forward on her.

“Good morning love birds!” Sharon opened the door and everyone yelled.

“I hate her!” Rey murmured as he dropped his head in the crook of Taani's neck making her giggle.

“Oops wrong time!” Sharon covered her eyes as she saw them. Rey was leaning on top of Taani and it looked like they were going to kiss but due to the interruption decided against it.

“Rey kuch toh sharam kar. Itne log tere room mein hai. Abh toh uth ja uske upar se.” Vicky teased and Taani got conscious.

“Wait here.” Rey instructed Taani and got out of the comforter carefully. She hid herself in it.

“Rey tere kapde kahan hai?” Amar teased suggestively and everyone joined.

“Chalo bohot hogaya. Niklo bahar sab.” Rey escorted them out of the room.

“Exactly guys let’s leave. Thodi privacy dete hai dono ko.” Sharon winked as she threw a box of condoms at Rey.

“What the hell!” His eyes grew wide.

“Two can play this game.” Sharon left smirking.

Rey closed the door and locked it. He stood there hoping that Taani hadn’t noticed the box in his hand.

“What did Sharon throw at you?” Taani asked as she sat up on the bed.

“It’s nothing Taani.” He tried to brush it off.

“Rey?” She got out of bed and walked towards him.

“Taani chodo na yeh sab. Tell me did you sleep well?”

“Yes I did. Also I’m not a kid. I saw what she handed you.”

“It’s just her getting back at me.” Rey explained.

“For doing the same to her?” She asked.

“Tumhe kaise..?” He asked dumbfounded.

“Bhai is very bad at hiding things from me.” She smirked.

“Par usne toh mujhe kaha tha ki tumhe kuch nahi bataya usne.” He was still confused.

“Yes, because I told him to.”

“Listen, it’s just a prank. It doesn’t mean anything.” Rey defended.

“Mm-hm. I know.” Taani nodded and stepped closer to him.

“We should head out. Warna sabko aur bakwaas karne ka mauka milega.” Rey quickly went in the bathroom to freshen up leaving a confused Taani behind.

“You should definitely buy it!” Sharon told Taani who was looking at a pair of denim shorts.

“Sharon!” Rey gritted his teeth as he heard her and beelined towards them.

“Calm down buddy. Hum bahar hai.” Swayam quickly intervened and took Rey outside the shop.

It was their second to last day at Mahabaleshwar and they were out shopping as everyone was bored sitting at home. The entire morning passed by with teasing Rey and Taani. Swayam called an end to it when he saw Rey getting annoyed by it.

“I like it but I’m not comfortable wearing it outside.” Taani told her.

“Haan toh hum bahar kahan jaa rahe hai. Shaam ko ghar pe hi party hai.” Sharon said cheekily.

“That’s not what I meant.” Taani laughed at her cheekiness.

“I know what you mean and you should stop doing that to yourself.”

“I’m not doing it on purpose. I get really conscious.”

“I get it. It’s just that the rest of us are following the dress code and I don’t want you to feel left out or separate. You are a part of this group now.” Sharon smiled at her. “But, then again it’s just a suggestion. Think about it this way, no one here is going to judge you or look differently towards you because of what you wear. Correction, Rey might look differently at you.” She winked making Taani giggle and continued, “my point is you won’t find better people than these to boost up your confidence.”

Sharon walked away from Taani and she looked across at everyone.

“Sharon is right. Even though I didn’t have a smooth start with them, they accepted me very quickly to be a part of their group. They all made me feel comfortable when my nerves were heightened. I may not know each one of them very well but I can certainly agree with Sharon, I won’t be judged here.” Taani thought to herself.

“Taani?” Sharon called her.

“Aayi.” Taani decided to buy it.

“Taani? Are you done? Mujhe bhi ready hona hai yaar.” Rey knocked at the bathroom door.

Rey was about to knock again when she came out wearing a yellow frill top, black denim shorts and yellow sneakers.

“Wow! You look..” Rey was caught off-gaurd by her appearance.

“Don’t complete it. Mujhe phirse conscious nahi hona hai.” She stopped him form continuing.

“You don’t have to wear it if you aren’t comfortable in it.” He said.

“But everyone is and I don’t.. It’s difficult to explain. You go change!” She pushed him into the bathroom to change.

“Sharon, please tell me that you aren’t up to something.” Swayam asked her.

“Listen I know that you have to leave urgently, but I’m not a kid who you need to look after. And to answer your question. I’m done playing pranks on Rey. At least for now.” She answered.

“Good.”

“Tu kyu uski side le raha hai?” She squinted.

“Voh bohot jaldi chid raha hai. Please tu ungli mat kar.”

“Par usko itna gussa kyun aa raha hai? Kal raat ko bhi he sounded very annoyed when we locked him. He’s not the one to get angry because of pranks. It has to be something else.” Sharon thought. “Is it?” She gave Swayam a look.

“Probably.” He nodded.

“Oh God, tum dono yahan chipke huye ho.” Simmi stood looking at the two. “Chalo yaar. Already iss idiot Swayam ki wajah se mood kharab hai. Aur kyun late karna hai party start karne mein.”

“How is it my fault ki meri early morning Delhi ki flight hai?” Swayam asked her.

“Because like a party pooper you said it right before the party started.” Simmi squinted.

“Don’t give me that look. I should be the one who is annoyed. Mujhe raat bhar travel karke Mumbai jana hai to catch my flight while you guys get to enjoy here.” Swayam strangled her as they walked out to the lawn.

“Agar comfortable nahi ho toh kyun pehen rahi ho?” Rey asked Taani when he caught adjusting her shorts for the third time.

“Par mujhe hona hai comfortable.” Taani sat down on the bed and sighed.

“Don’t force yourself.” Rey sat next to her and held her hand.

“Aise toh phir mein kabhi shorts pehenungi hi nahi.” She sulked.

“Shorts pehen ne ka koi compulsion nahi hai.”

“Everyone else is gonna wear it. I..”

“Forget them. Are you comfortable in it?” He interrupted her.

“I’m not.” She answered truthfully.

“Then why?”

“Sharon kept insisting so I thought I should. Now I don’t feel that great.”

“Tum change kar lo. I’ll wait.” Rey told her and she went in to change.

Taani came out to find no one in the room. She was about to call Rey when she heard a loud commotion and followed the voices to find everyone gathered in the living room.

“Rey just shut up!” Sharon yelled. “Mujhe bolne pe majbur mat kar.”

“Sharon don’t.” Swayam tried to calm her down.

“What don’t Swayam? He can bloody come up to me and accuse me of stuff and I don’t get to return his favor?”

“Swayam, stay out of it. Aur meine kuch galath nahi kahan hai. You were with Taani in the shop and you were the one to force her to buy things which she didn’t want to.” Rey pointed at Sharon.

“Pehle na apni girlfriend se jaake puch ki usko kya chahiye aur kya nahi. Don’t assume things.” Sharon reciprocated.

“I know what she needs. What she doesn’t need is you lurking over her.” He glared.

“I can’t believe you just said that.” Sharon was surprised. “Can you believe him?” She looked at Swayam.

“Both of you’ll are angry. So please don’t say anything.” Swayam tried to ease the tension.

“Let him speak. Usse lagta hai ki I’m the one causing troubles in his relationship..”

“Yes you are!” Rey interrupted Sharon.

Taani stood rooted to her place. She didn’t know what to do. This was the first time she was seeing Rey angry. She looked around at everyone else who stood still, not picking sides and decided to do the same.

“And how so?” She asked.

“Guys stop it! Bachcho ki tarah lad rahe ho tum dono!” Swayam yelled at them.

“Bachcha toh yeh hogaya hai. Khud itna insecure hai Taani ko leke ki uske aage kuch samajh hi nahi aa raha isse. Yes, she left you once. But, she is not going to leave you again. Have at least this much faith in your love. Aur agar usse mere kuch bhi bolne ya koi prank ki wajah se tujhe chod ke jaana hota, toh she would have left long ago!”

“Enough!” Rey managed to say. He knew deep down what Sharon said was right but he needed time to process it. “And I meant what I said. Stay away from her.” Stealing the last words, he left.

He bumped into Taani on his way out. Taani saw him controlling his tears. Before she could utter a word, he left.

“Rey..” He heard her soft voice as he exited.

“You okay?” Swayam consoled Sharon and made her sit on a chair.

“Why has he made me the villain of his story?” She sobbed in his arms.

“He didn’t mean it. You know that.” He kissed her forehead.

“Go and check on him. Pata nahi kahan gaya hoga.”

“Bahar hi hoga. I have his bike keys.” Swayam told her.

“Baat kar le uss se.” Sharon said.

“I told you to leave the talking to me. Why did you bring it up?”

“Atcha abh isme bhi galati meri?” She flared her nostrils.

“Peace!” He pulled up two fingers and called peace.

“Taani?” Aashi said when she noticed Taani approach Sharon. They all turned their heads towards her.

“Taani listen.” Swayam called her but she asked him to stop and continued to walk towards Sharon.

“Taani I..” Sharon didn’t know what to say.

“Tum theek ho?” Taani knelt in front of Sharon.

Swayam smiled and left in search of Rey. The rest of them dispersed as well.

“We shouldn’t be together. Rey andar aaya toh uska gussa aur badhega.” Sharon smiled lightly at her.

“I’m sorry. Meri wajah se yeh sab..” Taani started to apologize.

“This isn’t your fault.” Sharon stopped her.

“It is. I unknowingly called you out. I didn’t mean to.” Taani explained. “Moreover, I had noticed that he was suppressing things and his behavior had changed since we came here but I just ignored it thinking it might be nothing. I should have talked to him. Voh tum par gussa nahi karta.”

“Don’t worry about me. It may take a few days but we’ll get back to normal.” Sharon cheered her up. “Rahi baat Rey ki toh just one advice, anytime you feel like you need to talk to him act fast on it. Uski hamesha se adat rahi hai to bottle up things. You need to pry things out of him. Swayam is the one who usually does that, aur tabhi itna bada hungama nahi hota.” Sharon chuckled.

“Abh do impulsive log ladenge toh hungama hoga hi.” Taani smiled and hugged her.

“I’m glad he has found you.” Sharon said breaking the hug.

“Kya hai Swayam?” Rey asked annoyed as Swayam walked towards him.

“Tujhe kyu lagta hai ki voh tujhe chod degi?” Swayam came right to the point.

“I don’t want to talk right now.” Rey shrugged.

“Alright then, just a heads up, mein abhi nikal raha hoon so please..”

“Don’t worry uss se baat karne mein mujhe koi interest nahi hai.” Rey gritted his teeth.

“Good. It’s better if you guys don’t talk for a while.” Swayam shook his head.

“But?” Rey looked at him. “Jo bolna hai bol de.”

“You know she is right.”

“Tujhe nahi lagta tu kuch jyada hi uski side le raha hai?” Rey snapped. “You saw her forcing Taani in the shop.”

“Taani is not a kid ki Sharon ke force karne pe kuch bhi karegi. It might have been her decision to buy it.” Swayam explained.

“Still picking sides.” Rey rolled his eyes and looked the other way.

“Why am I even trying to talk to you?” Swayam shrugged.

“Meine pehle hi kahan tha I don’t want to talk right now.” Rey sneered.

“Please do din ke liye Sharon se durr reh. Mujhe Delhi mein yahan ki tension nahi palni.”

“Ride safe.” Saying so Rey went inside to his room.

“Rey?” Taani knocked on the door after some time. “You haven’t eaten anything.” She came in with a plate of food.

“I’m not hungry.” He replied.

“Khane pe kis baat ka gussa nikal rahe ho?” She sat next to him.

“Bhook nahi hai yaar.”

“Fine don’t eat! Mujhe kya?” She placed the plate in front of him and folded her hands across her chest.

“Are you mad at me?” He looked towards her.

“Am I allowed to be?” She side glanced at him.

“Yeh kaisa question hai? I obviously don’t want you to be mad at me but yes you can be.”

“I really wished what you wanted was true as I am very mad at you!”

“But all this was Sharon’s..”

“I’m not talking about what happened today.” She interrupted him.

“Phir?” He asked innocently.

“Tumhe agar mere uss break up wali baat ko leke itni problem thi toh mujhse kahan kyu nahi? I thought I was the one who had problems communicating amongst us.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Lately you’ve been saying that a lot.”

“I.. I love you.” He smiled at her and she looked at him with surprise.

“Nice try. But I’m not letting you go this easily.” She said suppressing her smile.

“I know I messed up. Par jis tarah sab mere past ke baare mein baat kar rahe the, I didn’t want you to get any wrong indication. Marriage was never on the cards for me, not until I met you. Now I’m looking forward to it.”

“Don’t you think I know this? Tumhi ne mujhe yeh bataya tha. Why are you forgetting that we both want the same things? Tumhe kyu lagta hai ki koi bhi stupid reason ke liye I’ll leave the one who has become the most precious person for me?” She cupped his face.

“I don’t know what to say.” A light smile graced their lips.

“Then don’t. Already bohot kuch keh chuke ho aaj.”

“She deserved it.”

“No she didn’t! And you are going to go to her and apologize for it.”

“Not before she apologizes to you.”

“She doesn’t have to.”

“Then me neither.” Rey stood firm on his ground.

“We’ll talk about this later. Pehle kuch kha lo.” She forwarded the plate to him and he ate quietly.

“Siddo!” Taani screeched as soon as she went in her house. “Tum kab aaye?”

“Aaj subah. Mein tujhe surprise dene wala tha par tu hi gayab thi.” He pouted.

“Bhai, Bhabhi aur maasi?” She inquired.

“Voh sab parso aa rahe hai.” Shivam answered.

“Tere engagement ki news mujhe abh kyu mil rahi hai? Maasi bol rahi thi tera roka huye zamaana ho gaya hai. Aur uske baad tu New York bhi aayi thi. Why didn’t you tell me?” Sid sneered at her.

“I had my doubts then isiliye nahi bataya kuch.” Taani replied guiltily.

“Toh abh bata de. Subah se Shivam se kaafi weird things suni hai meine.”

“Bhai aapne kya bataya?” Taani eyed Shivam.

“Yahi ki ladka dikhne mein decent hai. Businessman hai. Uske gharwale bhi theek hi hai. Just the thing that is bothering him is the age gap between you two.” Sid narrated. “Baaki details tu bata.”

“Mein kya..?” Taani began to say when Shivam interrupted her.

“Kuch mat bata. Mil lene de. He might pick up on something that I might have missed.” Shivam said.

“What?” Taani was confused.

“Naam toh bata.” Sid pouted.

“Bhai aapne naam bhi nahi bataya?” Taani looked at Shivam.

“Naam bata dunga toh isse pata chal jayega kaun hai. So better hai ki usse kuch bhi na pata ho.” Shivam smirked at Sid.

“Yaar details batane mein kya problem hai? I’m not going to hit on him.” Sid pouted.

“I want your opinion on him so tujhe kuch info nahi milne wali. Aur Taani, tumne uss se baat ki?” Shivam turned toTaani.

“Haan meine bataya hai ki weekend pe dinner pe aana hai.”

“Not that.” He said and looked at Sid.

“Are you for real Shivam?” Sid glared at him.

“Siddo bhai just wanted to make sure that he accepts you for who you are.” Taani said cautiously.

“Thanks for making me feel like an outcast.” He sneered.

“Shut up okay. Mein nahi chahata ki voh ya uske ghar wale yahan aake tumhare baare mein koi bakwaas kare.” Shivam explained.

“What if he does?” Sid asked.

“He won’t. I know him.” Taani smiled at him.

“We’ll figure that out soon. Anyways, how was your trip?” Shivam asked Taani.

“It was.. great. Bohot maza aaya wahan pe.” Taani smiled.

“Kya kiya?” Sid asked slyly.

“Mazze kiye.” Taani replied in a similar tone.

“Bohot maze kiye hai lagta hai.” He teased.

“Shut up Sid.” Shivam sneered.

“Isse chod. Mujhe sab detail mein bata.”Sid chuckled.

“Taani? Tum kab aayi?” Tanya entered the house and spotted everyone in the living room.

“Mein abhi aayi mumma. Aap kahan thi?” She asked her.

“Mein Juhi ke wahan gayi thi engagement ke details discuss karne.” Tanya told her.

“Maasi pehle date toh decide kar lo.”Sid chipped in.

“Voh toh do din mein ho hi jayegi.” She winked.

“Aur mujhe laga yeh dinner ka plan ek dusre ki families ko janane ke liye banaya hai aapne.” Taani sneered.

“Atcha abh yeh sab chodo aur jaake rest karo. Thak gayi hogi tum. And don’t forget to invite Purvi and Arjun.” Tanya instructed.

“Purvi ghar gayi hai. Toh shayad sirf Arjun hi aaye.” Taani informed.

“Are you serious? Itna bada jhagda?” Purvi asked over the phone.

Taani was on a skype call with her.After inviting Arjun to dinner, he disconnected the call and she continued chatting with Purvi who was very excited to know details of what happened at Mahabaleshwar.

“Yeah! Itna bada ki ghar aate time both of them were in separate cars.”

“Really?”

“Aur voh bhi kyu, kyunki mere mahan brain mein idea aaya tha ki mein break up kar loon uss se. And being stupid, I acted on it.” Taani rolled her eyes at herself.

“Khud ko kyun blame kar rahi hai. You had your reasons. I didn’t agree to all of them but they were important to you.” Purvi smiled.

“I should have listened to you and given it another thought. Par mujhe thodi pata tha ki uss pe itna affect hoga iss sabka.” Taani sulked.

“He loves you. Teri har cheez affect karegi usse.” Purvi said and noticed the smile forming on Taani’s lips. “What are you hiding?” She asked.

“He is not the only one in love.” Taani blushed as she said it out loud.

“Oh I’m so happy for you.” Purvi gleed. “What was his reaction when you told him?”

“I haven’t yet.” Taani replied meekly.

“What?” Purvi eyes grew wide. “Pagal hai kya. I love you bolne ke liye mahurat nikalegi?”

“I just came to terms with it.” Taani blushed profusely.

“Mere saamne itna blush kar rahi hai I wonder usko kaise batayegi.” Purvi shook her head at her.

“Jab batana hoga bata dungi. Don’t worry.” Taani managed to say amidst her blush.

“Parso ghar aa raha hai na, tabhi bata de.” Purvi encouraged her.

“Yaar tu kyun nahi hai yahan.” Taani sulked.

“Mujhe thodi usse jaake I love you bolna hai. How does it matter ki mein wahan hoon ya nahi?” Purvi teased.

“Shut up!”

“Ohho, possessiveness toh dekho.” She teased further.

“Atcha abh bye. Soja. Mujhe bhi neend aa rahi hai.” Taani disconnected the call.

“Aisa kya bol diya usne jo itna blush kar rahi ho?” Sid knocked on her door.

“Mein Purvi se baat kar rahi thi.” Taani corrected her face.

“Purvi se baat karte waqt itna blush. I thought I was the..”

“Shut up!” Taani threw a pillow at him.

“Are you happy?” He asked seriously as he sat down next to her.

“Aise kyun pooch rahe ho?”

“Just wanted to be sure. I know Shivam is very overprotective when it comes to you. I want to know if you are happy with him. You know I’m always there if you want to talk about boys.”

“It’s singular! And bhai is just being..well, bhai about this.” She rolled her eyes. “He is a really good person. Tum jab miloge tab dekh lena.”

“Matlab tu naam nahi batane wali mujhe?” He pouted.

“Nope.” She laughed.

“Yaar.” He sulked.

“Try harder next time.” She pulled his cheeks.

“Maa!” Rey screamed as soon as he entered the house.

He heard loud wailing of a baby and furrowed his brows.

“Aate hi chillana jaruri tha? Itni mushkil se soyi thi.” Muskaan complained coming out of the guest room.

“Muski!” He ran to her.

“Dheere!” She glared at him as she soothed Kiara in her arms.

“Kiara.” Rey took her in his arms and cooed her. “Kya hua mera bachcha kyu ro raha hai?”

“Abh tu itna zor se chillayega toh royegi hi na vo.” Armaan pulled his ears and Kiara smiled at that.

“Ouch! Bilkul apni maa pe gayi hai. Dekho kaise hass rahi hai.” Rey complained to Armaan.

“Oyye! Jyada mat uchal samjha na.” Muskaan shouted.

“Shooo! Abhi toh rona band hua hai iska.” Rey taunted her as she took her back in her arms.

“Muskaan, Kiara kyu ro rahi thi?” Ananya came out worried.

“Bua!” Rey ran and hugged her.

“Oh yeh aaya hai. No wonder.” She said.

“What do you mean by no wonder? Mein kyun usse rulane laga?”

“Pagal!” She ruffled his hair. “Kaise ho?”

“Kaisa dikh raha hoon?” He smirked.

“Ekdum bakwaas.” Rannvijay taunted.

“Abh aapke jaise looks develop hone time toh lagega hi na Paa.” Rey fake smiled at him.

“Iska one percent bhi hojaye toh bohot badi baat hogi.” Rannvijay taunted.

“Kyun mere bachche ko tang kar rahe ho aap?” Ananya loving moved her hand on his head.

“Dekha bua is the only one who loves me.” Rey side hugged her.

“Mom isko jyada sir pe mat chadhao, nachne lagega.” Armaan swatted his head. Kiara giggled at the noise.

“Mamoo ko maar pad rahi hai aur tumhe hassi aa rahi hai?” Rey started to tickle her making her laugh.

“Aagaye tum?” Juhi said. She looked tired.

“Aapko kya hua?” Rey asked concerned.

“Teri engagement ne thaka diya hai.” She complained.

“Toh kisne bola hai itni mehnat karne? Chup chap roke ki tarah nipta lenge yeh bhi.”

“Itne easily thodi tujhe chodenge.” Muskaan smirked.

“Aisa hai toh kuch kaam kar. Sirf Kia ko haath mein leke mat baith.” Rey taunted.

“Kiara.” She corrected him.

“Kia.” He challenged her back.

“Armaan hold her. Isse toh mein dekhti hoon.” She handed over Kiara to Armaan and chased Rey around the house.

“Tum dono ka hogaya ho toh kuch baat kare?” Juhi scolded them.

“Maami aap baat kar lo mein Kiara ko sulake aati hoon.” Muskaan said catching her breath.

“Itne mein hi thak gayi?” Rey taunted Muskaan.

“Rey!” Juhi warned him.

“Maa not fair.” He wailed and sat next to her.

“Abh suno, Tanya aayi thi aur weekend pe..” Juhi started to say when Rey interrupted her.

“Dinner ka plan. I know. Aur yeh bhi ki Taani ki maasi aur bhai bhi honge. Anything else?” He asked.

“Yes. Any date you both prefer for engagement?” She asked him.

“Aisa toh koi preference hai nahi. Jo tum sab ko arrangements karne mein easy pade decide kar lo. We have no problem with it. But thoda control, please.”

“No chance!” Armaan chuckled.

“Rann, Swayam Delhi se kab aa raha hai?” Juhi inquired.

“Kaam toh khair ek din ka hai. But he might wait.” He informed.

“Kyun?” Rey asked.

“Voh aur Sharon bhi toh chalenge dinner pe.” Juhi told him.

“Koi jarurat nahi hai.” Rey sneered.

“Abh kya hua?” Armaan sighed.

“Kuch nahi. And she is not coming. No more discussion about it.” Rey got up and went to his room.

“Yaar Taani tera pati kab aane wala hai. Mein bore hogaya hoon iss suspense se.” Sid sulked.

“Pati?” Taani looked weirdly at him.

“Aisi kya look de rahi ho usse? Shaadi ke baad voh tera pati hi hone wala hai.” Arjun laughed seeing her face.

“Shaadi ke baad na. Abhi se kyu pati bula rahe ho usse.” She made a face making them laugh.

“Bhai aur Bhabhi abhi tak kyu nahi aaye?” Shivam wondered.

“Baju mein toh rehte hai..” Sid got interrupted by the doorbell. “Lo aagaye dono.” He went to open the door.

“Aaaa!” Shivam, Arjun and Taani heard him scream and rushed to the door.

They found him latched onto someone. His legs were locked behind the person’s back and that unknown man was holding him firmly off the ground. He turned a little to face them and waved at them.

“Armaan?” Shivam managed to say amidst his shock.

“Hi.” Armaan uttered.

“Sid get off him.” Shivam tried to pull him off Armaan.

“It’s alright Shivam.” Armaan smiled.

“Tu yahan?” Sid climbed off him. “Ek minute. Businessman with a decent family and elder to Taani.” Realization hit him and he turned to Taani. “How dare you?”

“What?” Taani asked confused.

“What was that scream?” Muskaan asked Armaan on reaching the door.

“Muskaan f**king Mallik!” Sid exclaimed on seeing her.

“It’s Dr. Muskaan Grewal, you f**king Modi.” She snapped her finger at him.

“Language you guys!” Rey came forward holding Kiara in his arms.

“Yeh kaun hai?” Sid asked.

“Kiara Grewal.” Muskaan said proudly.

“What is all this commotion?” They all turned to find a man at the neighboring door.

“Modi!” Armaan grinned and went forward to hug him.

“How do you guys know each other?” Shivam was confused.

“Let’s go inside and talk.” Armaan said and they all went in. Juhi, Rannvijay, Tanya and Ananya headed to the study to discuss about the engagement leaving the kids to catch up.

Abhimanyu Modi and Siddhant Modi were Taani’s elder cousins from her mother’s side. They are Tanya’s elder sister, Aruna Modi‘s sons. Abhimanyu is married to Nikita Malhotra. All three were in the same college with Armaan and Muskaan and they are friends since then. Sid was in class with Muskaan, while Abhi and Nikki were with Armaan. Currently, Abhi and Nikki live in Bangalore with Aruna. Their parents separated few years ago and his dad lives separate. Sid lives in New York and is studying photography.

“Forget all this.” Sid said and glared at Armaan. “How could you betray me?”

“Sid relax, Armaan is still single.” Muskaan giggled.

“So who is getting married to Taani?” He questioned.

“Can someone explain to me what is going on?” Sid asked frustrated.

“Siddo, Rey and I are getting married.” Taani said.

“How?” He asked.

“Clearly, isne tujhe naam nahi bataya tha. But kis baat ka confusion ho raha hai tujhe?” Armaan asked.

“Shivam ne mujhse kaha ki voh businessman hai isiliye naam nahi bata sakta as we might know him. Par Rey toh..” Sid wondered.

“Filhal toh kaam kar raha hoon.” Rey cleared his confusion.

“Aur teri academy?” Abhi asked.

“Will start soon.” Rey told him.

“How do you know about the academy?” Taani asked Abhi.

“Yeh aur iski paltan jab dekho tab yahi baat karte rehte the. Speaking of them, where are they? Especially you right and left hand?” Sid asked.

“Yahin hai.” He answered.

“Aaye kyu nahi?”

“Pehle bolte baarat laani hai, bulata mein sabko.” Rey chuckled.

“Chal baarat ka samajh sakta hoon, par teri bestie Sharon, voh kaise nahi aayi?”

“She’s not well.” Rey said and looked away. Taani shook her head at him.

“Nikki kahan hai?” Armaan asked changing the topic.

“She was resting. Wait I’ll call her.”Abhi got up to leave when he saw Nikki walk in with his mom. “Lo aagayi.”

“Armaan?” Nikki looked confused at him.

“Kitni moti hogayi hai tu!” Armaan commented looking at Nikki’s baby bump.

“Sab iss ki wajah se.” She pointed at Abhi.

“Bola tha iss gadhe se shaadi mat kar. Dekh kya halath kar di teri.” Armaan kissed her baby bump and hugged her.

“Tu yahan kaise?” She asked him.

“Dulhe ka bhai hai.” Sid answered.

“Dulhe ka bhai?” She wondered and it clicked her. “Rey?”

“Right here.” Rey waved at her.

“Oh everyone is here.” She said looking around.

“Hello aunty.” Armaan greeted Aruna.

“Tum toh baat hi mat karo. Australia jaane ke baad toh mujhe bhool hi gaye.” She sneered at him.

“Don’t worry mom, iski toh class mein lunga.” Sid smirked.

“Tanya kahan hai?” She asked.

“Study mein.” Shivam informed and she left.

“Bhabhi baitho aap.” Taani made her sit. “How’s your back?”

“It’s better than before.” Nikki answered as she sat.

“This is so anticlimactic.” Sid sulked.

“Kya matlab?” Rey asked.

“Meine socha tha ki mein sabse milunga, will get to know everyone aur apni inherent jasoosi skills ko use karunga to find out if you deserve my sister. But..” He sighed.

“So do I deserve her or are you just happy to know that it’s not bhai?” Rey chuckled.

“Second one for sure.” Sid laughed. “Mere approval ke bina isne shaadi ki toh mein isko maar dalunga.” He glared at Armaan.

“I don’t think it’ll come to that.” Rey chuckled.

“Tum dono mile kaise?” Abhi asked Rey and Taani.

“Tum logon ke seriously kuch nahi pata? ”Muskaan asked.

“Mere bhai ko tere bhai pe humse jasoosi karwani thi so usne kuch nahi bataya.” Sid rolled his eyes at Shivam.

“Jasoosi nahi.” Shivam corrected him.

“Yaar tum sab bhai itne annoying kyun hote ho?” Muskaan huffed.

“Which reminds me, humare doctor sahab kahan hai?” Sid asked referring to Rahul.

“Usko chutti nahi mili. Engagement pe seedha aayega.” Muskaan informed.

Just then Kiara started crying. Muskaan tried to soothe her but it wasn’t helping.

“Idhar la.” Rey took her in his arms and she immediately stopped crying.

“Atcha mumma se itni jaldi bore hogayi?” Muskaan faked anger at her.

“Neend aa rahi hai isse.” Rey said as she yawned. “Mein isko andar leke jaata hoon. Taani?” Rey looked at Taani to lead him inside.

“Excuse toh dekho bande ka. Armaan yeh toh tujhse bhi smart nikla.” Nikki commented.

“Kiara ko mere paas chod aur andar ja.Tere pe koi bharosa nahi hai mujhe.” Muskaan sneered.

“Shut up guys!” He gritted his teeth to stop from smiling and looked at Taani who just wanted to escape into oblivion. “Chale?”

“Mein akela bore hojata yahan.” He pouted.

“Bahar sab kya soch rahe honge?”

“Khud apne baato mein busy honge sab.”

“Tum Sid, Abhi bhai aur bhabhi ko itne atche se kaise jaante ho?”

“Abhi not so much as Nikki and Sid. Voh dono humesha ghar aaya karte the. Sid was close to Muski and bhai, aur Nikki and bhai were inseparable.”

“Like you and Sharon?” She looked athim.

He just nodded at her.

“Abhi tak baat nahi ki na? Rey, come on you know she didn’t do anything wrong.”

“According to me she did. She shouldn’t have forced you.”

“She didn’t. I like to wear shorts but I get hell conscious when I wear them. She was just encouraging me to overcome it.”

“Can we not talk about her please?”

“Toh kya baat karni hai?”

“Tum batao, I don’t have anything.”

“Toh andar kyu bulaya?”

“Bas aisehi.” He raised his shoulders carelessly.

“Faltu ka mujhe tease karne ka mauka diya.” She side eyed him.

“Kaun tumhe.. oh Arjun.”

“Yeah! Thanks to you he won’t stop teasing me for this.”

“You shouldn’t have called him then.” He said tongue-in-cheek.

“Tumhari tarah insensitive thodi hoon mein.” She taunted making his jaw drop. “Aisi shakal mat banao, you are that!” She laughed. He just faked a smile at her.

“Abhi agar Kia nahi hoti toh tumhe atchese batata ki mein kitna insensitive hoon.” He narrowed his eyes at her.

“Kiya?” She raised her brow.

“Kiara!”

“Do you like kids?” She asked seeing him with Kiara.

“Don’t you think it’s too early for the kids talk?” Rey teased.

“Shut up!” She flushed.

“To answer your question, I do.” He smiled.

“Do you always have to tease me?”

“Necessity nahi hai koi par tum jab aise blush karti ho tabhi bohot cute lagti ho. So I can’t help myself.” He winked.

“Stop, please.” She squirmed.

“No one can stop me from complimenting you, luv. Not even you.”

“I’ll go and check on them.” She got up to leave.

“Kuch chahiye hoga toh bula lenge voh. Baitho yahin.” He pulled her back and made her sit next to him.

“Rey Kiara hai yahan.” Taani said as he pulled her closer by her waist.

“Haan toh isse thodi kuch samajh raha hai. Waise bhi so gayi hai.”

“You want to put her down?”

“Rone lagegi. Jab tak she doesn’t go into deep sleep, you can’t really put her down.”

“You’re good you know, at this.” She smiled.

“Check kar rahi ho?” He smiled back.

“Shayad.” She winked and ran to the balcony.

He checked on Kiara and placed her on the bed. He placed two cushions an either side of her and followed Taani to the balcony.

“Did you really expect me to climb up this high?” He stood next to her with his arm around her, holding her between him and the railing.

“What?” She furrowed her brows. “Oh my birthday. I was being stupid.” She leaned on him.

“Kya hua?” He asked as she sighed.

“Kuch nahi. Atcha lag raha hai.” She said making him smile.

“Tumhe kya lagta hai, yeh log kabki date decide karenge?” He asked.

“Minimum ek month durr ki toh honi hi hai. Abhi bhai bata rahe the ki voh do months ki chutti pe aaye hai.”

“Are you sure shaadi ki planning nahi ho rahi?”

“Looking at the meetings they are having, I don’t mind abhi hi sab khatam karne. I can’t take this drama again!” She shook her head making him laugh.

“I heard koi wedding planner bhi involved hai?”

“Haan bhai milke aaye hai. I’ve heard she is too good. You might be right, shaadi ki hi planning kar rahe honge yeh log.” She sneered.

“Bhaag ke shaadi kar le?” He suggested tongue-in-cheek.

“Nah. I want everyone to be present.” She shook her head.

“Toh aisi shakal kyun bana rahi ho when you want all these functions?” He narrowed his eyes at her.

“Because you don’t want them. You want a simple wedding, right?” She looked at him.

“Marriage is a middle ground. Abhi kuch adjustments toh karni padegi na. I can’t have everything my way.”

She hugged him tight and he kissed her forehead.

“Aunty, food is amazing!” Armaan complimented Tanya.

“Thank you. Aur lo na.”

“Obviously!”

“Maasi iske saamne se voh food plate hata do. Sab kha jayega aur kisi aur ke liye kuch nahi bachega.” Sid taunted making everyone laugh.

“Mom aur bana degi, usme kya?” Shivam said tongue-in-cheek earning a smack from Tanya.

“Kal se khana tum hi banaoge.” She warned him.

“Pick that plate up!” He said instantly continuing the laughter.

“Aah.” Nikki hissed in pain.

“Kya hua?” Muskaan asked.

“My back is killing me.”

“Jaldi khana khatam kar and go lie down. You’ve been up for quite a while now.” Armaan instructed her.

“Tujhe badi knowledge hai iss sab ko leke?” Sid narrowed his eyes at him.

“Muskaan ki pregnancy jheli hai meine. I know A-Z about it now!” He said and earned a smack from her.

“Pakka koi aur reason nahi hai?” Rey wiggled his brows at Armaan.

“Phone utha tera.” Armaan said as Rey’s phone began to ring.

“Haan bol.” Rey picked up the call. “What?” He got up instantly quieting everyone. “Atcha rukh tu abhi kar mat. I’ll rush home and call you. Uske pehle usse call mat kar.” Rey started to leave.

“Rey?” Rannvijay called out.

Taani gave him a questioning look.

“I’ll call you.” He told her and left.

“Kiska phone tha?” Juhi wondered as the door closed.

“Swayam tha shayad. I saw it flash.” Taani informed.

“Let me call and check. Aise bina reason ke toh yeh nahi jayega.” Rannvijay said.

“On it.” Armaan said connecting the call. “I’ll just come.” He excused himself.

“Sharon.” Taani said as soon as she recalled Rey’s words.

“What about her?” Muskaan asked.

“I thought he said not to call her before he reaches home.” Taani told her.

“Dono ka kisi baat pe jhagda hua hai. Do din se vo ghar nahi aayi hai. You know anything about it?” Juhi asked Taani.

“Aunty itna kuch serious nahi hai. Dono bohot hi ziddi hai, bas wahi problem hai.” Taani told her not to worry about it.

“Keep me posted on it. Aur Rey jab call kare toh usko bol tickets usse mail ki hai meine. Not to worry about that.”Armaan came towards the dining table.

“Kya hua?” Rannvijay asked.

“Gautam uncle.” He said.

“Kya hua usse?” Rannvijay asked worried.

“He is fine now.” Armaan assured him first. “Mild attack tha. He is in the hospital right now.” He informed.

“Sharon?” Juhi asked.

“Usse abhi tak bataya nahi hai. Issi liye Rey gaya hai. Meine dono ki Delhi ki flight book ki hai.” He informed.

“Sharon’s dad?” Taani asked softly and Muskaan nodded.

“Doctor ne kya kaha”? Muskaan asked.

“Angioplasty karne bola hai.”

“Swayam ke saath kaun hai wahan?” Rannvijay asked.

“Rishi uncle hai.”

“Excuse me.” Rannvijay excused to make a call.

“I’m worried about Sharon.” Juhi said.

“Rey gaya hai na maami, aap tension mat lo.” Muskaan held her hand.

“Avantika ko bataya?” Juhi asked referring to Sharon’s mom.

“Swayam ne kiya hoga. Not sure.” Armaan told her.

“When did they separate?” Aruna asked.

“It’s been seven or eight years now.” Ananya told her.

“Bhabhi, you should lie down. Aap bohot thak gayi ho.” Taani told Nikki. “Let me take you to your room.” She helped her.

“I’ll come with you.” Arjun told her.

Taani carefully made Nikki lie on her bed and came out into the living room. She sat on the couch and sighed holding her head. Arjun sat next to her. They both stayed quiet for a long time. She heard the doors open and close and understood that they all had left.

“You alright?” Arjun asked her.

“I just needed to escape from there. ”She told him and her phone rang.

“Sorry for leaving like that..” Rey started when she interrupted him.

“How is Sharon?” She asked.

“She is doing okay now. Mein usko leke Delhi ja raha hoon.” He informed.

“I know. Take care of her, please.” She told him.

“I will.” He disconnected the call.

“Kya hua?” Arjun asked her.

“I hope her dad recovers soon.” She said and he hugged her.

“He will be fine.” He assured her.

As soon as Taani heard about Sharon’s dad, her memories from when her own father was ill, came back and overwhelmed her. For an excuse to calm herself down she decided to help Nikki to her room. Arjun followed her.

“Sharon is so lucky to have Rey. He just instantly rushed to her.” She smiled.

“What are friends for?”

“I wished I had such friends back then.”

“You have me now.” He said making her smile.

“Thank you.”
