We expect better from Kangana Ranaut, who has been the flag bearer of women empowerment in Bollywood. However, after laughing hysterically at a rape joke during a late night party at Cannes 2018, the actress is once again made a sexist and controversial statement.

It seems like National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut can't keep away from controversies, or may be she doesn't want to. After her long battle against her alleged ex-flame Hrithik Roshan, she was caught on camera laughing at the rape joke cracked by another actor the video for which went viral and fans went berserk with their disappointment on social media websites.She faced a lot of criticism also because the Tanu Weds Manu actress has been, or at least attempted to be the flag-bearer of women empowerment in Bollywood. So, her laughing hysterically at a rape joke, was indeed a questionable move by the actress.Now, she has yet again got herself into trouble again with her latest statement on Indian women and sarees. "I think if you're an Indian woman, you should know how to drape a sari. It's a racket out there with people who only want to shame others in the name of propagating their culture and identity, the Simar actress told a fashion and lifestyle magazine in an interview, as reported by IANS.And that wasn't it, the actress went on to add: "But I know people who find it 'uncool' to admit that they speak and understand Hindi or that they like Indian food or (that they are) brown. You can be a citizen of the world without compromising on your individuality.According to Kangana Ranaut, for an Indian woman to wear her individuality on her sleeve, she has to know how to wear a saree. Or better yet, wear a saree on most occasions.This comes after popular designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee was severely criticsed for his comments earlier this year: "I think, if you tell me you do not know how to wear a sari, I would say shame on you. It's a part of your culture, (you) need to stand up for it.

The designer was trolled on social media websites and by social commentators online for his sexist comments on Indian women and sarees. coincidentally, the actress had flaunted a sari designed by Sabyasachi at the 71st Cannes Film Festival, held last month in France.
