Chapter: 31

The gorgeous palace in Ajmer was beaming in glee. Mirza Sharifuddin Hussain, the governor of the Mughal regiment in Ajmer, was enjoying his evening after a long time. Sharifuddin is married since a year, that too with the princess of Mughal dynasty, so the entertainments in evening have almost bid him goodbye forever. In every single minute he needs to be in the good book of the emperor by staying in the good book of his wife. Today was different; Bakshi Banu had gone to her mother for some days. She will come back within seven days, so each and every minute of the evenings are valuable for Sharifuddin now.

However, Sharifuddin understood how much unfortunate he is when a guard came in the middle of the celebration and notified that a Rajput young man wants to meet him. Half-heartedly he had to leave the hall and to reach in the secret conference room. The young Rajput was sitting in dark, his hands tied with chains.

"Who are you and what do you want? Sharifuddin got into real matter without wasting a single word.

"My identity does not count, Subedar Ji. I have come with a proposal. The man answered. "Kindly order your guards to untie my chains as I am not a prisoner of you people. They are blind enough to understand who is needed to be chained and who is not.

"Don't forget where you are, man! Sharifuddin said in a cold tone.

"I did not forget, Subedar Ji... However, I am astonished to see how the Mughals behave with the man coming to them with the proposal of friendship. The man told in a calm voice.

"Proposal of friendship? Sharifuddin laughed. "Maybe you don't know that friendship can only happen between same standards. Unless you prove yourself to be eligible as my friend, you cannot expect any better behaviour from me.

"In that case, it will be me who will leave... I cannot be a friend to a person who does not have etiquette to talk with someone. The man said.

Sharifuddin laughed again. "I have enough sense of etiquette, and I know to apply them in proper place. Don't waste my valuable time with your worthless talks, and tell what you want.

"I want your help. The man said. "I want you to promise me that your will help me with your army, weapons and power whenever I will need you.

"Really? Sharifuddin yawned. "And why would I help you? What are you going to give me in return?

"A large province of Rajputana with least bloodshed... The man replied.

Sharifuddin sat attentively now. "Are you sure about what you are saying?

"Yes. The man nodded. "I can give you the forts which are said to be impenetrable by enemies. If I get your help, I promise you that within some months the fort of Amer will be yours.

"Fort of Amer! Sharifuddin's eyes shined. He knows the emperor has some unknown fascination with that particular fort. The emperor himself has sent his special spies in Amer, that news is known to Sharifuddin as well. As a responsible governor he has to take care of all these things, not only for the betterment of the empire, but the betterment of his own career also. Sharifuddin is a very straightforward man without any complexity. He is hardworking, responsible and ambitious. His accomplishment and establishment in the empire at this young age is only a net outcome of these three. He can smell the scope of his uplift in career graph, and he does not know to look down. Today also, he could sense the probability... another golden offer to get closer to the emperor.

Hence, Sharifuddin took a chance to test this Rajput man. "Why would I need your help for this? If Mughal army want Amer, they can win it anytime... What the hell you will do especially?

"Mughal Army do not have the information about each and every secret entrance of the fort which I have. The man said. "Also, I have some more confidential information which might be priceless for you. He smiled slightly.

"Like?

"Like, what do you know about Sonargarh? The man smirked.

"Another minor fort of Rajputana. What's the significance of that? Sharifuddin frowned.

The man smiled. "If you oblige me by untying me, I can describe you everything in detail.

Sharifuddin thought something for a while. Then he asked- "It seems you are very close to Amer.

The man smirked. "Yeah... sort of... I have a long time relation with Amer. Such a relationship, which keep trace in the flow of blood!

"Then, why do you want to destroy Amer? Sharifuddin asked.

"Because Amer has destroyed me! The man's voice suddenly trembled uncannily. "Amer has snatched everything from me... now I will snatch its pride!

"Come fast, Hamid! Jalal had to keep on shouting at his prime bodyguard who was extremely slow and lagging far behind him. They had set out from Agra at dawn, and now it was noontime, when they are very much close to the ashram of Vrindavan. Jalal had assumed that they would reach Vrindavan some hours earlier, but thanks to the great pace of his bodyguard, they are late. While calling Hamid again Jalal sighed. It looks like he would need to transfer this man in some other department very soon and choose someone else as his chief attendant. He cannot tolerate those people who do not have the sense of timing...

Abdul was far far better. Not only he was efficient and loyal, he was extremely punctual and particular about his responsibilities. It is really a pity that he had to get a punishment of being irresponsible. Abdul paid a great price of Bairam Khan's atrocious stubbornness which cannot be compensated by giving him lots of properties and promotions. Bairam Khan made a youth of 25 years old handicapped for a whole life. God knows how many such lives his Khan Baba has ruined in order to show his autocratic authority over the empire? Automatically a sigh came out of Jalal's heart.

Hamid came closer. He was panting a little. "Do you forget that you have to move along with me and you cannot lag behind me? Jalal rebuked him in a low voice. "Catch up the speed, for God's sake! We are already late!

Hamid does not understand what the necessity of reaching at a Hindu pilgrimage at a right time is; rather he is unable to understand how the Emperor of Mughal dynasty can go for a secret trip in a Hindu place without consulting with any religious people. What if it begets a curse to the empire? He was concerned for himself as well. He was worried that he was doing something offended against his religion, and that might demand any purification for him. He should have consulted with any priest, but he cannot as per the emperor's order. All he has to do for sake of his permanent job. There is a lot of hazard of working right with a whimsical emperor. Today he is insisting him to accompany him to a pilgrimage. Tomorrow he will order him to worship in front of an idol in a temple. God knows what will happen to Hamid!

"Wait, Hamid. Tufan wants to drink water. Jalal stopped the horse near a small pond to let it drink water, and got down from the horse. He took out the mashq, the water bag from the carrier and splashed water on face and neck. The scorching sun was literally sucking out all the energies from the body in this tremendously hot noon. Then after wiping the face with handkerchief he started tying the turban properly... in a typical wealthy Hindu businessman style.

"What is your name, Hamid? He asked suddenly.

"Mohammad Hamid Asaaf, Huzur! Hamid saluted.

"Idiot! Jalal uttered disgustedly. "What are you going to tell the people of the ashram in Vrindavan if they ask your name?

"Ooo...ho... wait... I... Hamid recollected. "An... Anand...

"I understood very much! Jalal sighed hopelessly. "Better you act as a deaf and dumb rather than stammering this way. Your name is Anand Sarpal, and I am Bhuvan Seth... we are business partners and have a big stores of spices in Marwar. This is the last time I am reminding you, and if you forget it again you have to forget your job in Mughal palace as well.

Hamid gulped only. Jalal sighed again. He seriously needs Abdul back. Abdul is staying at Ratangarh right now. What if he calls him back? But will he be fit enough to work as his personal bodyguard again? He can stay as his adviser, but how will he accompany him in his adventures? After a long period Jalal has gone out in disguise in a secret trip. He was feeling the vacancy of Abdul more than anything. Moreover the callousness of Hamid was irritating him too much. It seems he needs to change the traditional system of selecting personal bodyguard of the emperor and choose his attendant on his own!

They had reached Vrindavan. The fragrance of the holy land was floating in the air, and Jalal could feel that. They were walking through the market road, which was not at all small and quiet. But, there is something different in the warm air of this sunny noon in this place, which despite the chaos and congestion, sooths the heart with a strange touch of peace. It seemed there is a lot of temple in this place which is not destroyed by the invader soldiers, sacred hymns were floating in the air... A sad smile slightly touched Jalal's lip for a while. He remembered his last adventure trip in Amer. The picture of the lively marketplace of Amer is imprinted inside his heart. This place is not that beautiful at all, but it brought Jalal back to that particular day... He was so amazed with the sight of pure glee in the face of the citizens of Amer; he was mesmerized with the tune of the soil of Amer... and he was crazily trying to have a single glance of the beautiful princess... Little did he know that time, that his small crazy adventure will change his life forever! Who knew that while searching for a woman about whom he heard from someone else, he will find the ray of love in that desert land?

Today the same incident is happening... today also he has come to a different land in disguise in order to see a woman who has amazed him. What if he finds his lost love here?

Jalal's heart suddenly trembled while thinking about the blurriest possibility!

While heading towards the ashram they came across a large crowd. The traffic in the road was so huge that they were unable to ride their horses. They also got to know that the entrance for the common visitors is temporarily blocked.

"What happened here, Bhaiya? Jalal asked one passer-by.

"A royal caravan has come in the ashram with royal ladies. Common people are not allowed to see their faces. Hence the entrance is blocked.

"Then what about us who travelled from long to visit? Jalal felt a bit irritated.

The man nodded head sadly. "I hope they will open the gate after settling the royal women there properly. What to do... the queens and princesses do not even allow Sun and Moon to see their faces for a glimpse you know?

"I understand... but...

"You can rest here. The man looked sympathetic. "There is a shade of resting at the right of the main entrance of temple. You can even hear the Bhajans from there you know? I hope you will get to visit the temple and the ashram today only. Even I have heard there will be a special arrangement of Prasad for the commoners in honour of the queens.

"Better then. Jalal smiled. "Thanks a lot!

"You're welcome. Where are you from, by the way? Nowadays a lot of people from far are coming to visit this ashram and the divine lady living here.

"I am coming from Marwar. You can understand how long path we had to travel... if we don't get to see her it well be very frustrating! Jalal lied very believably keeping a natural tone of irritation intact in his voice. The man sounded amused. "Oh, so you're from Rajputana? Very well... our divine lady is from Rajputana as well. And you know what, the imperial caravan which had come in the ashram today belongs to your land as well!

"Really? Jalal frowned.

"Yes... the caravan is from Amer I guess...

"Amer!!!

Jalal felt his heartbeat has stopped suddenly. He stared speechless for a while. His heart started beating when an incredible melodious voice floated in the air; it worked like a charm and brought back Jalal's heart in his body again...

Mere to girdhar gopal dusro na koi
Mere to girdhar gopal dusro na koi
Jake sar mor mukat maro pati soyi
Mere to girdhar gopal dusro na koi.

His heart started beating at a double rate... He gazed mesmerized. Is it sung by any normal human being? Or the melody is showering from the heaven? How a simple song can have the power to give such a soothing peace inside heart?

Jalal sat under the shade to wait for the opening of the entrance... The melody was saturating his heart... The family of Amer is here... does that mean Purnima can be here too? Is his travel to Vrindavan is destined to see Purnima for once? He had no way to see her... But he could not lose his patience. The mesmerizing song was keeping him and his hope alive like a magical charm...

He would see Purnima. He will get Purnima in his life. As she belongs to him! No other else!

"Come with me... The old sage with smiling face leaded the royal palanquin bearers towards a hut. A magical divine tune was coming out from that hut...

"Taat mat badhu bhrata apna na koi
Parbhu. taat mat badhu
Bhrata apna na koi
Ta gaagn mulhi gayi kya karega koi...

Mere to girdhar gopal dusra na koi...

Jodha stared speechless from behind the curtain. The divinity of the melody had touched the deepest of her heart.

"You come with me daughter. The old sage instructed. "Guards, you have to wait here...

Jodha came out of her palanquin. Her maids surrounded her at once so that she is well-guarded and even the sunlight cannot touch her face. The princess of Amer spends her life freely in her land, but in a different land far from her home she has to follow the strict royal etiquettes and bindings set by the rule-makers of the society in order to secure her and her royal clan's dignity. Jodha stepped forward being fully covered by the maids. Her footsteps were measured and confident like a princess. Her whole face was covered with the veil. None could see her face, but she could see everyone from the barrier of that hazy glare... She was calm and dignified just like a royal lady. Who could know that what storm is going on inside her heart?

"Here... The old man peeped inside the open hut. "Are you busy, Maa?

The song stopped. A sweet voice talked from inside instead- "Not much, Maharaj... Let her come in.

"Go, Rajkunwari... She is waiting for you.

Jodha stepped in. A strange amazement had saturated her heart for a while. The hut contains nothing that can amaze the princess of Amer, rather it is exceptionally empty, only a musical instrument is kept at a corner and beside that a small bunk beautifully decorated with flowers where a small idol of Shri Krishna is kept. But the spiritual ambience spread over every corner of this small hut is so divine that it gives a strange and soothing sensation.

The old lady was sitting in front the idol, perhaps was busy with some flowers. She turned back.

"Come here, dear...

Jodha gazed at her face. The woman is definitely aged enough. But there is no sign of age in her face. In some magical way she has kept her youth intact in her bright eyes. Perhaps it is because her seraphic purity. She is beautiful. Heavenly beautiful...

"What happened? Come to me?

Such a sweet and lovely voice... as if she knows Jodha from a long time. Jodha went forward and bent to touch her feet, but she stopped her holding her hands affectionately. "It's okay dear! Come, sit with me...

Jodha sat in front of the idol of Krishna after joining hands in front of it. The lady was looking at her with smile. Jodha had lost her words.

"So beautiful you are... The divine lady suddenly touched her chin in utter affection. "Your bright eyes, your sharp profile, your bold and rigid chin tells that you are special. You are born to live an extraordinary life... Spontaneously her hand reached her head as her voice became huskier... "You will be happy in your life dear, I bless you.

"What is happiness, Maa? Jodha asked spontaneously. "What is the definition of happiness?

"Love is happiness... She smiled. "Everyone has different definition of happiness in individual lives, but if you analyse them, all the source of those individual happiness is love only. If you can touch the source of the purest love, you will achieve the ultimate happiness...

"But if someone's heart gets fastened into a bond of forbidden love? Jodha asked.

"What is forbidden love, my dear princess?

Jodha sighed. She took a long breath before her answer. "The love which is labelled forbidden by the society. Love of an unmarried woman with a stranger!

The lady laughed. "Everyone is stranger in this world, princess. How do the society understand who is stranger and who is not? She touched Jodha's cheek. "I am not a learned woman, my dear... but what I have understood in my life is, if love is labelled as forbidden, then soon there will be no place of peace and harmony in the world. The human being will die in strangulation in this loveless world.

"Then why does the society make love forbidden for us? Jodha uttered desperately. "What is the need of these baseless laws?

"Laws are to bind human being, princess. The lady smiled. "Laws help to see the difference between black and white. But if you love someone purely and selflessly, those laws do not have any strength to prevent that flow. Your destiny will take you towards that love... If the power of your love is strong enough, the barriers of society will break automatically.

Jodha could not say anything more. Two drops of tears rolled down from the eyes. The holy lady touched her hand warmly. "I can see dear, you are suffering a lot... The tune of your life is suddenly broken, and you are not able to find the new tune. It will pain a lot... but believe me, once you find the right track, your life will be like an eternal melody... You are exceptional, your life will be exceptional... Don't lose yourself in the sea of despair my dear!

Jodha kept on shedding tears... after a long time she was able to unload the burden of her heart in form of tears... The lady smiled for a while, then pulled the musical instrument which was kept beside her. Closing her eyes she started in her divine voice-
Jo tum todo piya
Mai nahi todu re
Tosaa prit tod Krishna,
Kaun sang jodun re
Jo tum todo piya
Mai nahi todu...

"Rajkunwari sa?

Jodha got up. Moti was standing in front of the curtain of her temporary dwelling in the ashram. She looked concerned. "Are you not feeling well, Kunwari Sa?

"No no I am alright! Jodha forcefully tried to wipe out the strain of weary from her face. "Why were you calling me?

"All arrangements are done as per your order. All the poor men, beggars and the common visitors will have lunch in the expense of Amer's king here today. Moti informed. "Will not you stand there, Kunwari Sa?

Jodha stared somehow lost. This special arrangement is taking place as per her father's order. It's an old custom of their clan- a lot of donations, charity and a special royal lunch programme is arranged in the religious places where the royal family members visit. This time the arrangements are grand, as it was Jodha who was going. His father leaves no chance to compensate all the emptiness of Jodha's life with these extravagancies... no matter what Jodha wants or not. Jodha too has to abide by all the orders to fulfil other's expectations with the dignity of princess. Like now she has to go to supervise the programme, guarded by bodyguards, surrounded by maids, hidden with curtains, covered with veils so that none can even guess how the princess look. Neither she will stand, nor she will talk... the announcers will only declare the news of her arrival and silently she will perform some basic rituals and would gather the blessings of God for this honest work. She is imprisoned in her own house, and she is bound with the royal rules at outside. Is there any place in the world where she is free? Free like this holy lady, who can easily stand for the forbidden love against the red eyes of the society?

What if she takes sanyas, becomes a jogan like her?

She knows, if she takes this step it will not be anything exceptional. Rather her mother, her father, her family actually expects and wishes Jodha to accept the life of a sage and leave the house forever. Probably this is the only possible solution to resolve the stigma that has marked Jodha's character and hence to come out of all the hazards the royal family is facing. She knows her father is spending sleepless nights in the worry of her future. Her mother is shedding tears all the time thinking about the fortune of her first daughter. Their worries will end forever if she secludes and detaches herself from the society itself. But what does Jodha want?

She does not know! She has thought a lot about it. She had even determined in her mind that she will not return to Amer after this trip and will stay in this ashram as a common devotee forever. She will spend the rest of the life in the lap of God while seeking the answers of the questions that life raised in front of her... She had kept her proposal modestly in front of her also...

"Will you give me a little space at your feet, maa? Jodha had asked the holy lady, her eyes were flooding in tears.

"Who am I to give you space, my dear... The holy lady had smiled. "The whole universe is the playground of my Giridhar. And he has already given everyone their place.

"I too want to spend my life serving Kanha! Jodha had urged desperately.

"Are you really ready to leave everything behind you for Kanha? Ask yourself! She had said.

"Yes I am! Jodha had told without thinking. "Give me permission, Maa... The society has banished me from my life. I have to seek my life in Kanha's feet!

"I am telling again, are you sure? Are you able to leave each and every wishes and hopes behind you for your love for Kanha? Or you are just trying to run away from the pains and humiliations of society?

Jodha could not say anything. Jodha had lowered her head.

"You have calmed yourself down. But inside your heart you are struggling with a storm always. You have become a rebel... you want to break all the barriers of the rules and to come out. But you cannot see it princess, that when you would not get the touch of your love for which you are searching for, even this freedom will become the greatest prison for you. She had kept her hand on Jodha's shoulder. "Being rebel is not the solution dear... I was also a princess like you once... I too had broken the barriers of society, left everything behind me in order to search my love. But you know, I never thought I am rebelling against anything. It was my love which took me out of my home... my destiny brought me here where I am today... to find my love... my Kanha... sources of all my happiness... Leaving home is always not the only way to find the meaning of life dear... you can find your love, your life in your own home while following the norms of society as well...If you have loved someone, your destiny will seek your happiness for you!

"So, I am not eligible enough to become a jogan? Jodha had asked hiding her agony.

"My dear... The divine lady had smiled- "Ask that to yourself. Is your heart ready to surrender itself completely in the feet of God?

"Kunwari Sa! Moti nudged Jodha. "What are you thinking?

"Nothing! Jodha said while trying to smile. "All the arrangements are done?

"Not yet. Moti said. "As per Rajasa's order, none was allowed to enter in the ashram premises while you were talking with her. The entrance is just opened for the commoners. The preparations are also started just now. Come and see... who can manage all these better than you?

Jodha is really specialized in any type of event management and hence everyone gives her the primary duty of management in case of any festival in Amer. But now the time is different, place is different, situation is different... and perhaps the mentality too. Still, Jodha smiled. "Okay. Let's go. She said. Maybe she has promised to herself to fulfil all the duties as a princess... at least till she finds her answer!

After a minute the princess came out of her dwelling surrounded and guarded by a small crowd of royal maids and trained soldiers. A group of special attendant was in charge of the privacy of the princess... some were carrying the imperial umbrella, and some were carrying the poles of curtain surrounding her. There was an arrangement of covered sedan chair for the princess, but she wants to walk on her feet, hence this system of walking curtain. However, despite all the visual blockages, Jodha could still see the place. The ashram is not too big, but very well-maintained. The busy dwellers of the place are working; the arrangements of the lunch are taking place. The sound of hymns and bells are coming out of the temple, a divine aura is surrounding that place...

"Will you visit the temple? Moti asked. Jodha shook her head. She has completed her worship, now it is the time for the commoners. The royal guards will order them to move if she wants to go to the temple. She does not wish to stop anyone from devotion. "I don't want to disturb the cookers as well, let everything get ready. She said. "I like to wander the place this way...

The beautiful melodious voice was floating in the air... The holy lady was offering her devotion through a Bhajan to the lord...

Sawre darshan dijo aaye, Sawre darshan dijo aaye,

Meera thari prem deewani

Ant kaha sukh pae...

Sawre darshan dijo aaye...

Two drops of tears came in Jodha's eyes all of a sudden for no reason... She readily wiped that out and sighed.

Does love beget only pain and nothing?

In the meantime the maids of Jodha were gossiping among themselves. "Look, so many people have come to visit. Look, so many carriages and palanquins... so many horses are grazing there... look...

In a casual curiosity, Jodha's eyes too followed towards the grazing land where the horses were grazing. That was not much far from the place where she was standing. She could see the horses clearly...

And suddenly she felt a shock of huge volt of current!

She went closer... she saw from near... she is not wrong. The white horse the most handsome and brightest among all the horses of the place was grazing confidently... The horse is royal... the slight mark on its forehead was saying so...

The mark she has seen before!

The horse she has seen before!

Jodha felt her heart will come out of her ribs in the jolt of excitement. He started panting while covering her face with her palms...

It cannot be true! It cannot be him! It cannot be!!

"Kunwari Saa what happened?? The maids seemed worried to see Jodha's sudden break-down. "Are not you feeling well? Will you go to the tent?

Jodha could say nothing. Her hands were trembling abnormally while she was murmuring- "He is here... he is here...

"Kunwari Sa???

Jodha removed her palms and opened her eyes. A strange ache was suddenly slashing her heart... What a joke of destiny is this? He had to come in Vridavan just the day she has come here??

The melodious euphony was still wandering in the air, spreading out the magic of love and yearning...

Ek tumhi manmit ho mare, Baeri hai jag sara...

Mai thare charno ki dasi, dujo Ko ni shahara...

Meera ke prabhu girdhar nager... Meera ke prabhu girdhar nager

Sumir sumir jash gae...

Sawre darshan dijo aaye...

All the controls, all the barriers broke...

"Chandrajeet! Chandraaa!! Jodha suddenly screamed her heart out like an insane... "Chandrajeet where are you! She shouted. And then pushing the group of maids surrounding her, throwing out the piece of curtain guarding her, dashing the troop of soldiers protecting her, she ran...

Her veil had fallen from her head. Her hairs got opened. Her chunar was lolling on the ground. Her anklet fell on the ground... she did not care; she did not look back. The princess of Amer ran towards the temple like an insane... for a glimpse of her love.

Is this the way destiny takes the lover to her love?

Jodha rushed inside the temple through the main door. A lot of people had crowded inside the temple. She blankly gazed. The great idol of Krishna was smiling at her from a distance. The holy lady is lost in her devotion and melody while singing and dancing in front of the idol, and the crowd is staring at her while drowning in devotion. The aura of pure divine love and devotion touched Jodha's disturbed heart. She balanced herself by holding the wall of the temple and took a long breath before she eagerly looked at the crowd. Is Chandrajeet there inside the crowd? How will she find him? How will she see him?

All the persons present there were drowned in devotion, so none noticed her... if they would, another problem could have been created. Restlessly, Jodha moved forward... the hall of the temple was becoming livelier with the devotional song and rhythms, but Jodha's rhythm of sanity was broken. Her eyesight was blurred because of tears, her footsteps were unstable. It was impossible for her to check every face from the crowd in this state still an unknown force from inside did not let her to lose hope. Her limbs were trembling, her heart was beating at double rate. She tried to call Chandrajeet by his name for once, but her voice was choked. Aimlessly she just kept on searching him...

He is there! Yes, it was him. Jodha's heartbeat stopped for a while as she had held her balance by clenching the pillar. Who is the young man sitting at the right of the second row, listening attentively to the song? Yes, he is him... her Chandrajeet! After such a long era she is seeing him! Jodha's wounded heart started bleeding. She felt a hard rock is choked inside her throat, strangling her... Chandrajeet was so near to her... she can touch her if she wants... Chandrajeet, whose hope has kept Jodha alive even after all the humiliations, is so close to her!

Jodha lost herself. She gazed at his face. Only his side profile is getting seen from this place. He was sitting calmly, his quiet smile had some uncanny dignity, his eyes looked drowned in the melody... How are you Chandrajeet? Happy in your own life in your own world? You should be... why would you remember this ill-fated Purnima? But do not you even remember me when the gleam of the moon of a full-moon night peeps through your window? Don't you even remember me when the fresh breeze of dark night sweeps over your soul touching your heart with the magical wand of peace? I have sent my messages to you through the clouds, though the wind, through the moonlight... Have you never got them? Didn't you ever want to know how your Purnima is dwelling?? Jodha did not understand when she had sat down on the floor losing the control over her body. She was floating in the flood of tears.

Suddenly the man sitting at the right of the second row turned his head. His face was right towards her. His eyes too tried to search someone... Jodha wanted to stand up, to shout and declare her presence in this crowd... But alas! She could not! She could not! Instead of this she readily hid her face under her veil, so that his eyes cannot reach to her...

His eyes were still searching someone desperately. Jodha felt her heart will burst into pieces. A force from inside was pushing her out to cry out loudly while rushing towards him; and another alternative force was holding her back as strongly as possible so that she cannot break the barriers. She was tormented in this deadly war of these two forces inside her heart. She was shivering badly in an extreme pain. She never has felt such a pain in her whole life.

"What happened, my child?

While trying to control her emotional outburst, Jodha turned back. An old priest was smiling behind her. It is obvious that he does not know her identity.

"Why are you crying, dear? The priest asked again...

Jodha tried to answer something, but could utter nothing. The priest perhaps had interpreted something from her vacant eyes... "You are looking very weak dear... come with me, have some rest... he said.

"No...no... Jodha uttered.

"Then will you go in front and sit closer to Krishna Ji, my child? The priest touched her shoulder. "Don't worry, I will take you there...

Closer to the idol... closer to Chandrajeet... How will he react if he sees her? What will he do? What will she do if she has to face him right now?

Jodha took a long breath to get back the princess inside her. No, she has no answer. She does not know how she will face him now. Does she have the strength to refuse Chandrajeet? Or does she have the strength of breaking the social norms and go away with him? No... the princess of Amer cannot do this. Already the political situation of Amer is messed up, the whole Rajputana is against Amer; all because of her. She cannot harm Amer further. She is in debt to her soil. She has no right to put her motherland's fate at stake for her own happiness. Rather she would die in her loneliness in the imprisonment inside her room of Amer palace for Amer's well-being; but she will not seek her own happiness by leaving all the citizens of her fort in front of a black-hole of uncertainty. Never!

"I... I think... I think I should leave!! Jodha forcefully pulled herself up from the floor and covered her face with veil properly. Then inhaling a deep breath to fetch some strength from air, she headed towards the door. Her soul was constantly weeping to turn back to see Chandrajeet for once. But the rigid dignity of the princess did not let her conscience to be defeated in front of her heart... She strongly walked back to the main door and stepped down the stairs.

Jodha is the princess of Amer first. Purnima is a dream of a full moon night. The responsibility of a princess is the biggest truth! A princess cannot overlook her duties for her dream!

Moti and the other followers of her were looking worried. Jodha came towars them. Moti rushed and held Jodha worriedly.

"Kunwari Sa...

"I want to go Amer, Moti... right now! Jodha uttered in a devastated voice.

"What happened there, Kunwari Sa? Moti touched Jodha's cheeks which were still wet.

"I said I want to go back right now! Jodha's order seemed rude.

"Pardon, Kunwari Sa... Moti said in a low voice. "All the arrangements of donation, charity and distribution of Prasad is made and announced. There is some natural expectation of the people of here from the royal family of Amer... If you leave everything midway then...

Jodha looked at Moti with lost glare... After a moment she lowered her eyes and sighed.

"I am not feeling well. I need a break from all this rituals! Please... Her voice was broken...

"You should take rest Kunwari Sa... Moti held her hands and looked at the guards. "You people... Kunwari Sa will go to her tent right now!

Jodha came back to the tent like a robot, lied down on the bed and closed her eyes mechanically. What game her destiny is playing with her, does she know? But yes... she has got the answer she had been asked in morning; is she capable of becoming a jogan? Is she capable of leaving everything belongs to her behind to surrender herself completely to God?

Answer is no. She is not capable. As she has already surrendered herself to someone else... Her heart belongs to someone else; she is not able to give her heart to God. Her destiny has stored the pain of imprisonment for her only; she is not born for enjoying the magic of the freedom!

Mindblowing, amazing chapter, so beautiful. I could imagine the whole scene in front of my eyes what amazing description of each and every scene dear stuti👏. I could feel jodhas desperation to meet her chandrajeet but alas she chose otherwise. I want these two lovers to meet as soon as possible.

Porlam... I am glad that u write the portion of Jodha see Jalal first...
it will be a pleasure and interesting to see what will be jalal's reaction now...

telling u the truth while reading the last few paragraphs was some how have tears in my eyes..
I didn't tell u but some how I felt a connection in the scene with my own life. even I faced this phrase once... but my situation is not like Jodha... I saw him... not that I can't go and talk to him... but while with him the feeling I felt once again came in my mind when I read that paragraph I felt that moment in front of my eyes...
and guess what the info I have about Amer for HAK this connection is from there...

now coming to other side's... I feel Meera Bai more a saint than a devotee of Krishna...I don't know why... may be this is what I feel...

not poor Hamid... he didn't know why Jalal walking soo fast... his legs don't have that strength to compeat to his...lol

I like the way Jalal wait outside for opening the gate.. may be he is here as disguise... but this think I loved...

and then the moment come when Jodha meet Meerabai and the turmoil inside... the feeling she have inside her came out in front of that divine personality...

then she locate Jalal after soo many days... so many wait and devotion towards their love she saw him... and that moment was bang on!!!!

jaldi next Chappy update kor... nahole prane mara gelum!!!
