MOONLIGHT ROMANCE FOR ALIA BHATT, RANVEER SINGH

The actors are shooting for the last schedule of Zoya Akhtar's musical drama at a South Mumbai theatre.
Alia Bhatt, who kicked off Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy opposite Ranveer Singh in January, took a break from the film to start work on Ayan Mukerji's fantasyadventure Brahmastra in Bulgaria with Ranbir Kapoor. On March 27, the 24-year-old actress was back on the sets of the musical drama for the last schedule in Mumbai. Her co-star had been filming his portions while she was away. Not even a shoulder injury and excruciating pain could keep Ranveer away from action.
On Monday, the duo arrived at Edward Theatre in South Mumbai which has been converted into Moonlight Hotel' for the shoot. The first floor of the rundown building adjacent to the theatre passed off as Alia's home in reel life. To play Zoya Ali, the glamorous actress had metamorphosed into a simple girl-next-door in a white kurta. Ranveer as Jignesh also looked very much like an aam aadmi himself in a green shirt which didn't look like it had come out of his personal flamboyant wardrobe. He strolled towards the entrance of the make-believe hotel, talking on the phone animatedly with his lady love who leaned over the balcony to look at him as he pottered around the ground floor, gazing up at her longingly. It was a scene straight out of Shakespeare's popular play Romeo And Juliet as Jignesh climbed up a bamboo structure to reach his Zoya. We waited for the kiss' but that didn't happen. Guess we are still too desi for such PDA. Shooting for the day commenced at 12 pm and wrapped up at around 1 am.
Gully Boy had kicked off on January 14 in Dharavi. It is based on the lives of Dharavi rappers Naezy aka Naved Shaikh and Divine aka Vivian Fernandes, who rose to fame with songs based on social issues. Before playing a character inspired by Naved, Ranveer had made a special appearance with the rapper in "Birju in the 2015 action-comedy, Hey Bro.
