A NIGHT BEFORE*

They both walked on the dark street having Dim street lights. Bark of dogs and their laughter filled in atmosphere.

"Appa Ka call hai"
She informed him when they were laughing and giggling by mimicking of the movie dialogues.

She picked it up and tapped on speaker.

"Ishuu Kanna, Kaisi ho beta?"
He asked from the other side.

"Theek hun appa..."
She answered happily

"Kanna, Mujhe tumse ek baat share Karni thi and I know ki tum ye sunke khush ho jaogi."
Happiness was evident in his voice.

"Accha uncle aisi kya baat hai jo ye khush ho jayegi?"
He asked getting in between the conversation.

"Ishita ke liye dulha dhoond liya hai humnein, uska naam kaartikey hai. Tumhe sabse Pehle ussi se milaunga."
He said happily.

His foot stopped before it could kick the can of soft drink.

He forced a smile to Ishita and replied

"Ye toh bahot khushi ki baat hai uncle."

"Haina? Maine pehle hi kaha tha"
Her father blossom with happiness.

"Appa main rakhti hun... room par Pahunch kar aapko call karti hun."
She said to him and hung the call

She stared him all the time while taking a walk from a cinema hall to the PG room. May be She was trying to read his expression. He was looking happy or may be just showing to be happy.

Yes, both were the secret lovers, never expressed their feelings afraid of losing a friendship.

He cleaned a tear which came rolling down on her cheek.

"Ro kyun Rahi ho?"
He asked like a kid

"Kal hum dono alag ho jayenge. Fir mere Saath mera Koi friend nhi hoga to?"
She complained to him

"Ohho... bas itni si baat. Main aaunga na tumhari Shaadi par"
He teased with a wink.

She smacked on his chest and hugged him. His eyes become moist as he felt her going away from him forever.

After his heart and mind war, he finally got his decision, a decision that was going to change their life forever. Either by staying and growing old together or by forgetting each other.

Both settled in the car comfortably ready to leave.

"Chalein?"
He asked like a gentleman before start driving and she nodding in 'yes' gave her answer.

There singing stupid songs, mocking each other was somewhere lost . Today there was just a silence, may be sadness of getting parted forever.

After having a great thaal on 'chacha da Dhaba' they again started drive.

He pull over the car on the side of the road, wanted to talk to her. He passed her a folded note... and

*TRASH*

A car swerved right into the driver seat, damaging the car badly from a driver's side.

Ambulance stopped in front of the hospital and get both of them out on the stretcher.

After getting treated She sat outside the Operation theater crying. Just then she remembered his note which he gave before this worst part.

"Hazaar baar socha, keh doon ki
Friend nhi meri girl friend hai tu
Par sapne toot jaane Ka darr kabhi dil se gaya hi nahi. Aaj bichadne se Pehle aakri baar ek baat kehna chahta hun.
Without your love, I would die Ishita"
She fell on her knees after reading this note still staring his nite. A heart was made with a red sketch pen which was now half hidden in his red blood.

After couple of hours she got up to know about his condition when the doctor showed up.

"Assi poori koshish karre aan, par chances kaaphi kattt ne"
(We are trying our best , but the chances are very less)
This broke her from inside and she fell on her knees.

"I love you too, please don't leave me. I love you"
She cried hugging the note close to her heart and tears brimmed down to her cheeks.

4 days later*

The sound of the rain reached in her ears making her feet to march to the window of his ward.

Droplets fell on her face when she slid the window glass aside.

The wheater was same, heavy rain, evening effect in afternoon and the smell of the earth made her slip into a memory lane.

Flashback*

Clouds roared and soon the blue sky got covered with a black and Grey sheet formed by clouds.

The dust which was blowing with a chilly wind settled on the earth's surface and nostrils filled with earth's smell.

He covered his head with book and got under a roof of the shop. He looked around not finding her when his eyes fell on a girl with some small kids dancing and singing with them.

"Ishitaaa..."
He called her out but she, busy in enjoying didn't heared him.

He walked to her with fast steps in the heavy rain which seemed like someone throwing stones on him. He wondered how she is dancing with such a smile.

He held her to make her stop dancing. Her puppy face expression made him melt and he got lost in her and didn't realised that he is fully drenched.

Chilly wind made him come out of her thoughts and he brought her with him.

They both sneezed for more than 2 days, even he got a high fever next day and she cared for him whole night as she knew that it was because if her.

Flashback ends*

She slid her hand out from a large window of hospital room to catch the water droplets on her palm and his hand came from behind supporting her's.

"Raman"
She voiced out

She looked at raman who was laying on the hosipal bed between many machines since 4 days

Kisi roz baarish jo aaye
Samajh lena boondon mein main hun

Sun rays fell on her face making her brows lower but this was the first time that she was smiling when the rays fell, the reason of this smile was only raman.
Just like always she slid the curtains aside of his ward hoping that he would wake up with an irritated face as she use to wake up.

Flashback*

"Ishita... Utho na..."
He tried to wake her up

"Sone do only for 2 minutes"
She said in sleep and hugged her pillow more tightly.

He went and opened the curtains letting the rays travel to her face.

Flashback ends*

Subah dhoop tumko satae samjh lena kirno mein main hun

She sat on a stool and held his palm her's. She closed her eyes as if trying to feel something.

"I love you"
A whisper came in her ear pressing those 3 magical words.
She glanced around the room and only get disappointment.

Kuch Kahon ya na kahon
Tum mujhko sada sunte rehna
Bas itna hai tumhe kehna
Bas itna hai tumse kehna.

She stood in her balcony of her room and felt the cold breezes hitting her face.
Hands came from back packing her in them and she too held tightly.
As she turned he just vanished.

"I love you"
She whispered to herself as if telling him that how much she love him. His Palms cupped her face and he kissed her forehead gently.

Hawaaon mein lipta hua main
Guzar jayega tumko Chhu ke
Agar Mann ho toh rok Lena
Thehar jaunga inn labon pe.

She found a bracelet in his bag which once she gifted him as a return gift.
She caressed the bracelet on her cheek with closed eyes feeling him near her and he, sliding his hand on each curve of her face

Main dikhun Ya na dikhun
Tum mujhko mehsoos krna
Bas itna hai tumse kehna
Bas itna hai tumse kehna

Reaching to the hospital, her face beamed with happiness when nurse informed her about his condition. She entered his ward and saw doctor checking him.

"He will be perfectly fine very soon, ms. Ishita"
Doctor informed with a smile before leaving.

Coming forward and taking her seat beside him, she gently caressed his face being conscious about him and his injuries .

He removed oxygen mask with his good hand and his words came, not clearly audible but still she understood.
"I... love... you..."
He completed with difficulty because of his broken rib.

"I love you too"
She merely whispered and kissed his forehead.
