A Budding Friendship
Inu entered his new home and Maan's mom was baffled seeing an animal in her house. "What is that doing in her house Maan. Didn't I tell you no animals .., His mom said but quieten down soon as she looked at the girl with Maan. "Mom, we have a guest and you are yelling in front of her, He said pointing at Geet. "Oh, I'm sorry dear, I didn't notice you. Are you a friend of his, His mom asked. "Mom, not only a friend, she is our new neighbor Geet, Maan told. "Hello auntie, Geet greeted. "Hello Geet, welcome to our house dear and make yourself at home. And about that animal Maan..., She was interrupted again this time by Geet. "Auntie we bought Inu together, both of us are raising it."Will your parents accept it, His mom asked Geet. "Dad is out on business trips mostly so it leaves me and Mom ...I will manage Auntie, I promise, She said. Maan's mom smiled looking at the innocent girl in front of her, she was happy that her son made at least one good friend, so she nodded allowing Inu to finally get into his new home.
Maan took her to the backyard where he built a doghouse for Inu. He went in to bring something and Geet played with Inu in the meantime. Inu was really happy running in the huge yard. Maan came back with his laptop and sat in a corner typing something into it. Geet went up to him and forwarded half the money as she promised. "What is this, He looked up to her. "Umm, money for Inu...like I promised, She said. "No need, I have decided that I will be the owner of Inu...and..., Before he could complete he saw Geet taking away Inu. "Hey wait what are you doing, Maan asked.
"You don't want to share him so I will take him with me...here is the full money, She cried. "Hey wait don't cry just listen to me for once, Maan said. "I didn't say you can't play with him. I have decided his time table and how we can take turns in raising him. I have even made an online diary for him and you want to take him away, He said showing his laptop.
Geet wiped her tears and looked at it and understood he was saying the truth. "Wow, you did that for him too, She asked and he nodded. "Now listen, after college I have some part time job so I can't take care of him on those days, so you can take him for evening walks, He said. "You made a diary for him it is funny, Geet smiled.
"Well now you don't have to stretch it...will it be fine ...I mean, I heard your mom is ill and is unable to walk ..., He looked up at Geet whose face looked serious. "Oh, so the gossip mill is on then, She said seriously looking at him. "..I...I heard it from the shopkeeper...you can't escape them ...if it is hard on you then ...I feel no need to push yourself, He tried to explain. "Aren't you getting late for your part-time job...I will just take Inu for a walk, She said trying to drag Inu but he won't budge from his place.
"Come on Inu it is time for your walk, let us go, She tried again but he cowered back. "I think he is scared, he is just a pup though so it's obvious he won't be able to go out that easy, we can train him little by little, Maan said. "You are really useless, She said looking at them. "I'm sorry well I should leave then, She said running off to her her place. Maan looked at her retreating back.Its still afraid to go outside really, She thought. "I'm just taking out my anger on it...when its not his fault even, She thought. She came back to her house closing the door wiping her face as she knew her mom will get worried if she saw her cry but she hated people gossiping about her mom and her inability to walk. "Mom, I'm back, She said but then didn't see her mom anywhere. She heard a sound coming from the washroom and saw her mom struggling there.
"Mom what happened, She ran to help her mom. "I was just trying to use the washroom by myself...I have become such a burden, Her mom cried at her helplessness. "Mom, you are not a burden we will go out for a walk from tomorrow, but first let's get you a nice warm bath, She smiled. She helped her Mom and then both of them cooked. "Mom, I'm raising a new pup along with Maan, he is my classmate, She told. "That is good, Her Mom said. "So Mom why don't you accompany us for our first walk tomorrow, She said. "Geet you know..., Her Mom said. "Mom...I just don't get it why have you stopped trying, please don't give up like that, She said. "I..its just that I'm not like the person I was in the past...I'm wheelchair bound now...even the physiotherapy couldn't help me much...but I will try ..., She looked up to see Geet.
Maan on the other hand was taking care of Inu, who was busy dirtying his room. "Ah, Inu you use the washroom for that ...this is third time I have to call my butler to clean my room. Inu if you go to the washroom..I will give you a reward,He said but Inu was clueless. "Maan, there is a girl outside...is she the other owner of this pup, His brother informed. He rushed down to see her standing. "I just wanted to see Inu that is all...guess you kept him inside at night, She said.
"Yes, I was trying to teach him new things but it looks like it will take time. Anyway, here you can use this as a map for tomorrow's walk...these areas have lesser traffic so you two can be safe too, He smiled. "Have you ever thought what will you do if one day you can't walk Maan, She said taking Inu from him who was happy seeing her. "Nope, He said. "I haven't either but you see it is difficult for you to adjust in that situation...but if you try you will still be able to walk in the end, She said. "I'm sorry about your Mom, I didn't mean anything in a bad way ...I just heard so, He said.
"It is okay...Inu looks tired so I will come by tomorrow, thank you for drawing this map for me, She smiled. "I did that as you are still new in town but if you follow this ...who knows may be you find it adventurous, He said. "Alright then, good night, will see you tomorrow, She said going to her house while Maan watched her.
Note- Since I'm updating at long intervals I will shift my stories on blog as I'm having some personal issues making my updates late...Also I will be ending The Last Song soon ...followed by My Love Story ...as their response is too low ...
