Just discovered this FF!! What a treat to read! So well written! So well visualized! It was awesome to go back along the memory lane! Like someone had commented - I so wish you were doing the IB screenplay. Every character was perfect! Loved Om's face-off with Ishana, there was no other way Om could have done that! It was perfect. Soumya-Rudy so awesome!! And the lead pair just killed it!!

Chapter 23: Mischief managed...for now

Mischief was managed in the mansion in a matter of minutes. While Rudy and Sumo were to be seeking and the rest were to be hiding a lot was happening. Om and Mallika wandered off towards his studio to have their chat as well as to hide. "You see," said Om, "Rudy will guess this is the first spot we would go to, being my studio and all. Saumya will play devil's advocate, cause she will reason in that, this spot is too obvious, by the time their argument gets resolved, Prinku will come out of hiding and the game will be over!." Mallika concurred. So the two friends were hanging out in Om's studio, the conversation took a less serious tone and shifted towards designers whom Om would put Mallika in touch with for her wedding trousseau.

Saumya and Rudy unaware that they were too late to start seeking, stayed put in the the smaller private hall from where the game began. Prinku left Anika at the Terraces and dashed down to meet Tia in the foyer, blissfully unaware that her decision sparked and fanned the first of many physical flames between Shivay and Anika. With a hop, several skips and few jumps a red faced Prinku made it in time to catch Tia wave her driver off. "Hey Tia! hope your retreat went well. I couldn't find Shivay Bhaiya when you messaged. We are playing hide and seek. Anika and I took the Terraces, come on in you can join us!" said Prinku, hurriedly ushering Tia in. Tia's face fell a little, "Oh well!" she said and let herself be lead inside.

Catching their conversation from miles away, for Saumya had the ears of a rabbit, she moved towards the source of the noise dragging Rudy with her, diverting him just for long enough to get him to forget about Love Angel. "Rudy, come I hear Prinku" she said and dragged him along before he could protest. "Gotcha!" yelled Saumya. "Wait wait, Time out!" said Prinku. "Came here to get Tia, halt game!" she insisted. "Well, no, you have to concede!" said Rudy. "No, come on, Tia will play as well, we can't leave our soon to be bhabi out" said Prinku, stressing on bhabi knowing all too well that the bhabi card would give her some power over Rudy. "Umm, well, Rudy why don't you go look for Om bhaiya and Mallika didi?I will go find Anika. If I get her, Prinku loses and we can start the game all over again with Tia" suggested Saumya. "Ok then!great idea Sumo!I should look in O's studio correct?" asked Rudy. Nodding her head in agreement, Saumya dismissed Rudy and turned towards the girls. "Lets go get Anika, I was getting annoyed by Rudy anyway!" she said. Giggling all three girls made it to the Terraces.

Shivay knew it was not Tia he was holding on to. In addition to having cat like eyes, Shivay had the reflexes of a Lion . Years of being ruthless in the business world meant he could read body language and gauge a lot from a simple handshake than most could with extensive research on a given person. Yet, in this moment, something more primal took over. His mind shut off momentarily to let his senses enjoy the warmth of human flesh. A scent, so strong yet feminine, like that of a strong musk weakened with roses took over him. Rhythm from two beating hearts hypnotized his senses. With his body pressed into the back of a soft yet firm female figure, he began to explore with his fingers this mystery that disarmed his mind momentarily. With the fingers of one hand he gently traced the path from shoulder to fingers of an arm, his other hand held firmly this fantasy in place at the waist.

Anika thought she should have screamed and kicked. Fending for herself on the streets taught her a trick or two about how much hurt her Chameli could cause. Yet, she let herself be taken over momentarily. A scent so strong and masculine and so unknown took over her. The arm that held her firmly yet gently by the waist felt secure, like that anchor she never had in her life. Those fingers trailing her arm made her warm and tingly. For once she felt she could just lean in and forget it all.

And then in the blink of an eye, lights turned on and a loud "Shivay baby!!!!" shattered the spell that was cast over Anika and Shivay. As though touched by a hot wire, both of them sprang apart and turned to face a rather shocked audience.

Rudy had found Mallika and Om and rushed them towards the Terraces the instant he received Saumya's text saying "Terraces!!!". He knew something was up, Saumya would use three exclamation points only to indicate some sort of urgency.

They made it in time to see Tia Saumya and Prinku looking towards two figures in the dark.

But even before either of them could do as much as move, the lights came on and most things became self explanatory. Surprise, shock and mischief were the most significant emotions running in their individual minds.

"What were you doing?" demanded Tia. "I, umm..." hesitated Shivay for a brief instant, "The lights were out, Prinku told me you guys would be at the Terraces and I decided to come down and talk to you. I saw a silhouette, assumed it to be yours. I see I was wrong. Now do you expect me to see in the dark?" he said shooting Tia a firm look. "Umm, no Shivay baby!" tempered Tia, "I see how you got confused, it being dark and all" smiling, she walked over to Shivay and pulled him into a hug. "Why don't we go have some coffee?You can join Prinku and the girls later" said Shivay, easing out of Tia's embrace, taking her by the arm and leading her away.

Shivay's mind had recovered enough to control his emotions as always. With great restraint, he moved ahead with Tia without sparing anyone else a glance. He would ponder over this later, once he managed to do damage control with Tia.

Anika recovered and managed to get her emotions in check. Smiling through her confusion, she turned towards the rest and said "I guess that is the end of this game!." "Yeah, well Tia is here as well, so Cry Baby leave us alone now!" said Saumya. Between Rudy and Saumya that meant, "Rudy go on, I will text you once I get something out of this." "True that Rudy, come lets leave Prinku to her party now" said Om and walked up to Rudy. Between Om and Mallika this meant "See what I was telling you about?There is something going on here."

"Yeah guys, lets go to my room!" said Prinku.

As the girls settled into Prinku's room and waited for Tia, Mallika excused herself to make a call to Sid. Once done with Sid, she texted Om. "Shivay was certainly bluffing, he can tell who is who in the dark with his eyes closed. There is no way he mistook Anika for Tia." "I know, but what does this mean?" texted back Om. "Well, I don't know, but I sure will try to find out." she texted back.

Mallika was not the one to be jealous. She believed for a very long time that Shivay was incapable of love because of the defensive wall he built around his emotions. The Oberoi family dynamics were responsible for this wall. As a silly young girl, she hoped she would be the one who would break the wall and bring it down. But as she matured and found her true love, all she did was pray that there would be someone who would break that wall for Shivay. It certainly was not Tia. Could it be Anika? she wondered. If it was, she would do her best to give both her friends that little push they needed. Thinking so, she walked into Prinku's room and made her way to her overnight bag. Looking inside it something silver caught her eyes. "Oh yes!" she thought. She found a pair of silver bangles that Shivay had once given her. Om had made them when he first began experimenting with metal, after months of misshapen objects, Om had finally learned to control metal while working it. As a result, he crafted a pair of simple yet cute and fun flower shaped bangles, perfect for a teenage wrist. He intended to give them to Prinku, when Shivay found himself in an awkward situation. Shivay had forgotten to buy Mallika a birthday present. Long story short, the bangles were gifted to Mallika instead. Mallika held on to them with the hope that one day she could give them to someone who she felt would take care of her best friend. "Hmm, let us see" she thought and put them back in.

Just as she joined Prinku, Saumya and Anika, Tia stepped in. After an awkward pause, Anika stepped ahead and said "Tia, I am so sorry. I honestly didn't know it was billuji. I couldn't see in the dark. I assure you I did not intend for anything inappropriate to happen." Smiling Tia replied, "It is Ok Anika. Things like this happen sometimes. I am sure this won't happen again." "Phew!" thought Saumya and Prinku. "Well then girls, why don't we watch a movie?" suggested Saumya. "Great idea!" they chorused, "But which one?" asked Anika. "I know, how about something nice and romantic, like My Best Friend's Wedding?" said Mallika. "Umm how about a horror movie, the Conjuring?" said Saumya. "How about cop drama Turner and Hooch?" said Prinku, "How about love, food and mysticism, Like Water for Chocolate?It is the best!" said Tia. How about "Rangeela?" asked Anika. "Umm, we can't watch all five..." began Anika, "Oh I know!" said Mallika, "Lets draw lots!" she said. "Like Water for Chocolate!yay!!" squealed Tia.

Later, Mallika and Saumya would concur that given the circumstances, that was indeed the best movie to watch!.

P.S This is a short chapter, the next one will be long. It was too long to club them both under this chapter, plus I wanted to introduce some back story to Mallika's bangles and reference the movie I will draw parallels from next.

"In addition to having cat-like eyes, he had reflexes like a lion" I swear this line summed up the Shivay of my imagination. I so wish the CVs of the show could have visualized Shivay's character on your lines.

This entire story brings me back to the old days of IB... the golden days.
Surely, the plot is different but the feelings are the same, so thoroughly enjoying it. Malika track was definitely one of the best because it was only then that Shivaay and Anika started to get along with each other.

Thank you for bringing me back to those good old days and for writing so amazingly good.
