Part 6
Next day ishita woke up by the knocking sound of the door ,she got up and opened the door ,rubbing her eyes . It was amma ,she spoke " arey ishu you are sleeping till late ,don't you have to goto office . "
Listening to her she checked the time and got shocked seeing it 8.30 in the morning ,she rubbed her eyes and check again ,then immediately took her cloths and rushed to washroom ,that's when she recalled all the happenings of her life ,her face fell recalling it while her eyes brimmed with tears .She loosed up started completing her daily task lazily .She took much time in taking bath and finally come out and started getting ready for office ,she stood in front of mirror and started combing her hairs . She was combing her hairs when she notice her partition which was still red due to vermilion ,she touched it and closed her eyes feeling the moment when he filled her partition, unwontedly a lone tear escaped from her eyes and roll down from her cheeks .She was lost in her thoughts when her brother entered the room and spoke breaking her trance " akka I want some money ".
She immediately wiped her tears and asked composing herself " how much and for what ".
V- Akka actually my birthday is coming so ,my friends are asking for treat so I thought ...
I- but its after two days na then why today .
V- as you were not there ,amma also was going to akka's house ,so me and my friends had decided a trip to lonavla , had planned to celebrate my birthday there itself .
I- arey vikrant what are you saying ,you will not be here for your birthday .
V- no akka ,I always celebrate my birthday with you people only ,this time I wanted to but my friends are insisting to go there .
I- how much money you want .
V- around 10000 ,waise its less but I will manage .
Ishita took out her purse and was counting the money when he said ",akka why are you counting ,give all ."
I- pagal hai kya ,this is my monthly expense ,if I will give you all ,his I will go to office .
V- achcha do ,I will manage .
She gave him 10000 Rs and he went from there ,still not happy as it was still less for him . Ishita then got ready and went to office ,she was late today as she actually don't wanted to go but had to as she is a employee . She reached the office and greeted the receptionist when she informed that Raman is not coming to office for some days and ishita has to postponed all his meetings ,she nodded and went to her place .
She then called all the clients and canceled all the meetings of Raman for next ten days as she know it will at least that much time to him for being normal and then started doing her work . As most of her works are related with Raman today she don't have much work moreover she was time and again being disturbed recalling the happenings of her life and Raman bad state .She so wanted to call him and ask about his whereabouts but was stopping herself as she want to be away from him to forget the bitter truth of her life that she is now married to her boss ,Raman Kumar bhalla who is now mourning over death of his beloved girlfriend shagun .
A week passed like this ,she goes daily to office ,do her work ,she always told receptionist to call and ask about him if he is coming or not but didn't geatger courage to call hersekf as she knows if he will be in bad state she cannot be able to stop herself for taking care of him . Today when she entered the office the receptionist called her and infirmed that The MD of khurana enterprises has come from Chandigarh and want to do meeting with Raman .Ishita asked if she has called Raman ,she nodded and spoke " I m trying to call him but sir's phone is go on ringing and he is not answering,even no body is answering the land line also ".
Ishita got scared of the worst and told her that she will take care .Saying so she went to his cabin and called him again and again but he didn't picked the call ,then she called on land line ,at first non picked it but luckily toshiji picked the call in third ring .
T- hello .
I(worried )- aunty ji everything is alright na .
T- ishita tu ,you are calling after so many days .
I- to main kya karoon ,its better that we should stay away .Aap phone kyun nahi utha rahe the .
T- we were not in house .
I- and Raman sir where is he .
T- he is sleeping .
I- its 10.30 in morning ,he never sleeps till do late .
T- now a days he wakes up in after noon and his days starts with drink and ends with that only .
I- auntiji I wanna talk to Raman sir ,I had called him but he is not picking any call ,can you please give him phone ,its bit urgent,actually Mr khuraana has come from Delhi and wants to meet him urgent .
T- tu kahaan hai.
I- I m in office .
T- you are strong puttar but my son is not that much strong .
I- matlab ,why are you saying so.
T- because,tere saath itna hua then also you are doing your job normally as if nothing happened but Raman , he is totally not in his senses ,he is always lost in his own world ,neighter he eats anything nor talks to anyone ,spends all the time in his room .
I- why ,why he is behaving like this, hadn't you stop him ,baat karo aap unse, kisi ke jaane se life khatam nahi hoti .
T- I m tired of making him understand this ,you also never come ,I thought to call you but then left thinking you too had gone through much and will be in your own grief .but I m happy to know that you have overcome it .
Ishita remain silent for sometimes ,as her eyes teared up listening to this ,then she anyhow composed herself and spoke "can I talk to him ."
T- wait let me check if he is wake .
Saying so she went to his room and tried to wake him but he was not even moving a bit ,toshiji told ishita " ishita he is in deep sleep ."
I- auntyji please wake him .
T- mujhse nahi ho raha ,if its that urgent come and take him with you .He is not only my but your responsibility too .
I- no aunty don't say this .
T- I will because for me you are my daughter in law ,who got married to my son may be its out of mistake or some other reason .Shaadi vyaah koi mazzak nahi hai ,tu aaja aur le ja use .
Sating so she hung the call without listening to ishita . The moment she hung the call she received another call , she picked the call as its from receptionist ,she informed that Mr khurana is on line as is asking when meeting is going to happen .Ishita told her to pass the phone to her ,she talked to khurana and tried to postponed the meeting but he was adamant saying " he had come to Mumbai just for this meeting only ."
And he was very angry too with this careless behavior of Raman ,she apologized to him and informed that he got stuck as someone very dear to him has died but he told that this all happens in life but they should think about others also ,this meeting was decided many days back and Raman was not in a situation to conduct the meeting they should had informed them beforehand . Ishita told that she herself had canceled all meetings of Raman but couldn't cancel their ,as every time she called his office their phone was busy . He was not ready to listen anything but was getting mad ,she any how made him understand and fixed the meeting in second half .
After talking to him ,she unwillingly moved to Ramans place ,she reached his house after half an hour and saw toshiji sitting alone . Ishita walked to her ,touched her feet for blessing , toshiji blessed her and made her sit beside herself and cried her heart out
saying she is not able to see her son in such bad condition ,he has just forget living his life .She again begged ishita to be with him and make him normal , so that he can again start living his life .
I- aunty ji please aap baar baateaise request na karo ,I don't want to deny you, but the truth is I can't be with him because I don't want him to think that I m forcing myself on him .
T- but we can't overlook the truth ,you are actually his wife .
I- aunty ji aap bade ho ,mujhse jyada jaante ho ,it not needed but then also I wanna say marriage is not only a ritual but it is a combination of two souls and which is not in our case ,I was just doing my job as I was directed by my boss and he was doing this because he want to get his love .
T- I m totally understanding what you wanna say ,if shagun would be alive may be I would had agreed to you but as she is not in this world and you are his wife ,I want you to take care of him and bring him back to life ,its my request to you.
Ishita was not able to answer her as she also cannot see Raman giving up his life like this but at the sane time she wanted to be away from him also . Escaping the situation she just asked
" where is sir ,I should wake him and informed about the meeting ".
T- he is in his room .
Ishita got up and walked to his room , she opened the door and coughed ,then closed her nose as she couldn't take the smell of so much alcohol and cigarette smoke. She entered the room and saw,around twenty bottles of alcohol and thirty packets of cigarette was laying there. She was shocked to see them as its too much ,she has hardly seen him drinking and he has stopped smoking after she has joined as she feel suffocated with its smoke . She then turned and saw him sleeping lifelessly on his back hiding his face in the pillow while it was wet due to his tears . She fell bad seeing him in this state ,she at first went out and told the help to clean his room ,at first non were ready as Raman had stopped them to enter his room till he call them but later went to clean when ishita assured that he will not say anything .
Helps were cleaning the room while ishita questioned toshiji that she can let him ruining his life like this ,toshiji cried and spoke " I tried a lot but he is not listening more over I m scared if he harms himself ".
I- ok ,I m seeing him .
Soon the room was cleaned ,she told them to open all the windows and curtain so that natural light can come in ,she put some room fragrance and insence stick to remove the alcohol smell ,then went to wake him .He stirred a bit and slept again ,she shook him vigorously and called his name ,he recognized her voice and got up immediately .He saw her and asked holding his head in sleepy voice " arey ishita you ".
I- haan main .
R- ahh my head is hurting a lot .
I- then what do you expect ,if you sleep having a whole alcohol of Mumbai .
R- no it was not whole .
I- chup ho jaao aap .
Saying so she forwarded a glass of lime juice to him ,which he started sipping without any argument .
