Chapter 19: Only Fools Rush In Love

It wasn't the first time he was hearing those words. But it was the first time they meant anything to him. He had never felt his heart swell with such joy.

"Khushi Kumari Gupta, you mean more to me than you will ever know." He whispered into her hair. Tears of joy fell from Khushi's eyes whilst hearing his sweet words. She had, deep down dreamed of the day when he would confess his love for her but never actually expected that day to come. And to think that she was about to give it all up. She began to giggle. 'Only Arnav Singh Raizada would have a panic attack whilst saying I love you.' She thought to herself.

"Khushi are you laughing at me?" Arnav asked a little hurt by her reaction to his words. He pulled away slightly to look at her. He saw the watery trail the tear hand left behind and whipped it away with his finger. He didn't understand, she was crying yet her eyes were telling him that she was happier now than she had ever been. Khushi recognised his confused face placed her hand on his.
"You know you walk around all rough and tough...But you have no idea just how adorable and dorkish you can be." She nudged his nose with hers and she smiled a smile so bright it could put the sun to shame. He could taste her sugary breathe on his lips. He weaved his hand from her cheek to the back of her neck.

"Baby, you have no idea just how rough and tough I can be." He said with a smirk tightening his grip around her waist. She saw the glint of mischief in his eyes.
"Well, maybe one day I'll let you show me but on one condition." She said in her own alluring voice. "Don't call be baby."A smile played at the corner of her lips. Arnav's mind was going crazy with images that were created by Khushi words but before he could say anything or think any further Khushi surprised him again.

She didn't want to hold herself back anymore. She couldn't even if she tried and the best thing was that she didn't have to. She knew she would be hooked with one taste. She drew her eyes from his lips to see the confusion and shock her words had caused. She suppressed a smile and moved in closer placing her lips lightly to his. His lips were unbelievably soft as he softly kissed her back, both of them in complete harmony. Khushi was back on her tip toes, running her hand through his hair before grabbing fist full's of it. She let out a gasp as she felt the tip of his tongue run along the bottom of her top lip before he pulled her lips back to his. She could feel her knees trembling with his every touch.

Arnav gently pulled away seeing a frustrated Khushi. She playfully punched his shoulder before he spun her around and pointed at the approaching headlights.
"Oh."
"Yea, oh." He said. She spun around still encircled in his arms. She placed her hand on his warm cheek, ridden with fear as if it was the last time she was to see him. She didn't want him to go. There much more she had to tell him and so much more she wanted to know. But more than anything she didn't want to lose this new sense of belonging. After all these years the hole in her heart was somewhat disappearing. Standing there in his arms, for the first time, she felt at home.
"Don't go." She whispered to him.
"I wasn't planning to." He reassured her. He still couldn't believe what had happened. This pure, fragile, forgiving, loving, caring, honest, beautiful, strong woman had just declared her love him. He, who in the past had caused her pain and trouble. He, who never believed in the idea of love, had become completely bewitched by her. There was no going back now. If she loved him then that's all he needed. He no longer belonged himself. He was hers. And the beauty of this was that now, she was his.

Though they stepped away from each other as Khushi's parents car pulled up to the mansion, they held on to each other's hand. Not wanting to let go of this enchanting feeling of falling in love.
"You kids are back earlier." Shashi pointed out as he as his wife walked up the stairs. Though the years had passed on by the love between the elderly couple was still evident as his wife linked on to his arm as he led her up the stairs. Garima caught sight of Arnav and Khushi holding hands and thanked the heavens. She thought back to how upset Khushi has seemed this morning to her beaming joy now. 'Yong love.' She thought.
"Arnav, care to join me for a night cap?" Shashi asked inviting his soon to be son-in-law in.
"It would be my pleasure." Arnav said before turning to share a look with Khushi.

***

They were all in Shashi's office. Both Garima and Khushi were sat in the two large arm chairs by the fire place as Arnav and Shashi were sat at his desk.
"I gather the two of you have worked things out?" Garima asked only loud enough for Khushi to hear. She turned to see that the men were in too deep in their own conversation to pay any attention to what was being said. She turned back around to face her mother and nodded. Whilst grinning ridiculously like a teenager. Garima laughed at the sight of Khushi's joy whilst shaking her head.
"I am glad one of you is grown up enough to make this relationship work."
"I know can you imagine if I was like him...we would have broken up months ago." Khushi said before shuddering at the thought of losing him.
"Pagal, I was not talking about you, I was talking about Arnav. He is the grown up one not you." Garima pointed out before she picked up a book from the side table and began to turn the pages.
"Maa, you are supposed to be on my side." Khushi pouted.
"I am. Your side, his side, it's the same thing. You two are no longer two separate people living separate lives. In my eyes you are a single force." Khushi's heart warmed again hearing her mother's words. she got up and went and sat sides her wrapping her arms around her mother's shoulders.
"How do you know all the right things to say?" She asked.
"Because I know what your heart truly wants to hear." She replied, loving placing her hand on Khushi's head.
"You are the bestest Maa in the whole wide world." Khushi said holding her mother tightly.
"And what about me?" Her father asked from the other side of the room.
"Hmmm you are ok I guess." Khushi teased.
"Oh god why did you keep me alive to see this day." Her father exclaimed in a dramatic fashion waving his hands up in despair to the gods. Arnav followed Shahi's gazing and was too gazing up at the ceiling to see who he was talking to. "Tell me when has my love for you faltered that you have given me this reward?" Both Garima and Khushi were giggling on the other sight of the room watching Shashi's performance as he suddenly began to speak like Rajesh Khanna. 'The whole family's mad.' Arnav concluded as Khushi's past performance began to make sense.
"Ok ok you are the bestest dad in the whole wide universe...done?" Khushi asked holding her tumb up.
"Like I need you to tell me, sanka devi." Her father teased imitating her aunt. Khushi skipped over and placed a kiss on her father's forehead.
"I love you dad."

"Love you beta."

***

"It's getting late I should leave." Arnav got up from his seat and began to button up his suit jacket.
"Beta, your house is all the way on the other side of town, why don't you just stay the night here and leave in the morning?"Garima suggested. Khushi wanted to jump up and down excitement but had to control her feelings.
"Thank you but on this occasion I really do have to leave." Arnav said sincerely.
"As you wish, we won't force you." For once Khushi wished they did. "Just be careful whilst driving and let us know when you have reached safely." Shashi said.
"Sure. I'll drive safely. Goodnight aunty, good night uncle." Arnav shook hands with Shashi before making his way out of the study.
"Khushi, drop Arnav to the front door." Garima insisted knowing only too well that she wouldn't have to ask her twice.

Khushi hurried along out of the study following Arnav. She caught up with him linking her arm around his. He leaned into her slightly, giving in to the pull she had on him.
"You're not driving." She said quietly.
"I can't stay." He told her.
"Why?" She asked but there was silence.
"Ok fine don't tell me. But you have to take the driver. Dad's obviously had one too many to think straight but I won't let you drink and drive." Khushi said as stubbornly as possible.
"Ok. For you, today I will take the driver." He agreed without any objections.
"Wow, are you always going to be this amiable? Cause can tell you that it will be easy getting use to this."
"If it means you smiling at me the way you do then I will always try...but knowing us...I am sure we will have plenty to disagree on."
"Good! I don't want us to be that boring couple that never fights. I think it's ok to want different things." Khushi said as they reached the front door.
"Hmm." He knew she was going to get at something.
"Like how I want you to stay...please stay." She tugged at his jacket pulling him closer to her before looking up at him with fluttering eyelids. "Arnav stay." She pleaded losing her breath slightly as she caught the look in his eyes.
"Khushi, do you have any idea how crazy you make me when you look at me like that?" He said in his baritone voice making Khushi's knees tremble again.
"I have an idea...I bet it's the same way you make me feel every time you say my name." She admitted before biting her lips. Arnav clenched his jaw to try and gain some clarity to stop himself from taking her there and then. 'Not like this.' he kept telling himself. He allowed himself one last touch before he would leave.

"If anyone should be biting your lips, it's me...so stop it." He brushed his thumb against her bottom lip freeing it from her teeth. At this point Khushi was at a loss to if it was his words, his voice or his touch which was driving her sense wild "You see Khushi, if I stay I can't promise I won't sneak into your room...and then there is no telling what may happen." He said raising his eyebrow with suggestion.
"I didn't think you where the type of man who sneaks into a girls rooms." She said pushing him away slightly before pulling him back.
"I am not sure I am the same man I was 12 hours ago, anything is possible now." Khushi knew he wasn't just referring to the conversation they were having but to the bright and beautiful future ahead.
"In that case I look forward to discovering these possibilities Mr Raizada." She looked up at him through her heavy eyelashes.
"I am going to leave to now before you wear me of my self control Gupta...Goodnight."
"Fine, go, leave. Call me when you get home." She called after him. She watched as the rear lights of the car disappeared into the horizon.

***

"Khushi. Khushi wake up beta." Her mother called. as she knocked on her bedroom door.
"Hmmm...Maa...let me sleep." Khushi called refusing to get out from under the covers.
"Khushi , Arnav's going back to Delhi today don't you want to see him off?" Garima asked through the door.
"KYAH!?" She shouted as she leapt out of bed at lightning speed and opened her bedroom door. "He is going back? Today?" She asked not wanting to believe what she was hearing. Her mother nodded and told her to get ready quickly and have breakfast so that they could leave all together. "How? Why?" She asked herself.

She quicky went for shower before hitting her wardrobe to face that eternal dilemma of what to wear. Within seconds she had created a huge pile of clothes of clothes on the floor. She slumped down to onto the rug, her head in hands, losing her mind over what to wear. Dresses, skirts, trousers, shorts salwars and even saree's seemed all wrong. ' Khushi get a grip.' She told herself. She got up with the towel wrapped around her and was about to make her way to Payal's wardrobe when she caught sight of herself.

"You fool." She said to herself. "This is Arnav, your Arnav. He has seen you in paint covered jeans, in ridiculous pyjamas and in nothing but a towel." She grabbed the first pair of jeans her hands could get hold of before throwing on a t-shirt. She let her wavy tresses fall free, not wanting to waste any time tying them up before She hurried down the stairs and headed for the front door.
"Khushi, have some breakfast atleast." Garima called after Khushi to no avail. "Acha baba, wait for us then we will leave together.
"Nahi Maa you and dad should have breakfast I'll meet you there." Khushi stopped to advise her mother before leaving. She jogged down the steps of the mansion to where the cars were parked and asked the driver to hand over the keys. The car screeched as she hit the main road, almost flooring the engine in the first gear.

Memories of their first encounter filled Khushi's mind as she reached Sheesh Mahal. But something didn't feel right. The hotel signs where taken down and massive trucks filled with furnishings from within the building were lined up outside. 'May be he is refurbishing.' She assumed as she stepped out from the car.

"Wow you actually drove...And here I was listening out for sound of a rickshaw engine backfiring." Arnav said with a big smile. Two weeks ago she would have been quick to hit back but when he smiled like that, he could have been given out a death sentence for all she cared.
"Haha very funny. I-.." She stopped mid sentence as something familiar on the back of a tow truck caught her eye. "Is that my bike?" She pointed out to the red motorbike.
"Yes and before you start yelling, no, as much as I would love to send that death trap to the scrap heap, I am not getting rid of it. It's coming back to Delhi with me where I will make sure it is back in your garage. It's the only way I can make sure you won't come back on it." Khushi couldn't deny that she was a little bit annoyed with him for taking her bike and not trusting her riding capabilities but she understood where he was coming from. If the tables had been turned, the bike would have been set on fire.

"Fine the bike can go back to Delhi...but can't you stay for longer?" She knew what the answer was going to be yet she couldn't help but hope that her asking may change his mind.
"AR doesn't run its self you know."
"I know...Aaman does." She teased as he gave a disapproving look. "Cancel your ticket...Go on you know you really want to stay. Don't act pricey."Arnav shook his head before taking her hand and leading her around the corner. He pointed out to the large chopper in the middle of the field.
"Ok you won't let me get on a bike but you are mo than happy to get on that flying disaster?" Khushi said more upset than she wanted to be. Arnav remembered what she had said about her parents and instantly regretted bringing up the topic. Him leaving was bad enough, he didn't want to part with her this way.

"Look, next time we are in Lucknow we will spend more time together here, I promise. But right now I have to go."
"Ok then just give me enough time to get ready, I'll come home with you."
"Khushi, you don't have to do that. I came here with the intention of taking you back to Delhi myself. I was so afraid of losing you that I was ready to throw you over my shoulder if it meant you came back." Khushi laughed knowing that he would, and that he has. "But after last night...I can leave knowing you will always be with me no matter what. I know you will come back home to me. So you should stay, I know you've been missing your parents so spend some time with them and when you are ready, come home." Khushi wrapped her arms around him in a tight hold not caring about who was watching. And he felt the same as he held her close to him. "There were a lot of things I didn't believe in...Until I met you. And no matter how unsure I am about things in life one thing I will always be sure of is that, I don't want to spend another moment of my life without you a part of it. You have brought me back to life Khushi Kumari Gupta, I am and forever will only ever be yours."

And in that moment everyone else ceased to exist there was only Arnav and his Khushi and the love they shared. A bond which had formed months ago but had no name could now be given its rightful place in their lives. Destiny, fate, written, soul mates call it what you may the only thing of importance to them both is that the other was happy. And if that was the case then all was right in the world and if it wasn't then they would more than happy to travel to hell and back to make it the case.
"You are my life now." Khushi said through her tears of love for the man who makes her complete.

Chapter 20: Surprise(s)

He knew everyone was watching. 'What better time than now to make an example of her. This is what should happen to people who dare cross my path.' He thought as he looked on with disgust at the chit of the girl who dared to challenge him.

"What to do with you now? Should I let you fall or save you?" Her fate was still in his hand even though he gave her choice. She looked down at the fall and then back at him.
"I would rather fall than be saved by you." She retorted. And in that moment he saw nothing but red. Pure and utter hatred for the girl who's hand was clenching on to his.
"I had forgotten that falling is within your character." Those were his last words as he let her fall to the boxes below.
"KHUSHI!" Arnav shouted as he woke from his nightmare. He whipped the sweat from his brow and drank some water to try and pull himself together. That was just one of the account in which he had caused her pain there were countless more. How could she love him? Why did she love him? The thought would keep him up all night.

***

She would miss Lucknow with its bustling markets and her favourite food stalls. She would miss seeing her parent's every day, her mother's wise words and her father's endearing stories. She would miss the home she grew up in, in which she and her sister held many memories. As much as all of this weighed on heart she knew she had to leave. This is no longer where she belonged. She finally understood why her mother had always said that her true home would be the house she got married into.

She was only able to stay in Lucknow for a further two days before she decided to come back to Delhi. She missed him in a way she had never missed anyone. Being away from him reminded her of the hole in her heart. The constant feeling of emptiness was gnawing away at her. It reminded her of the time when she didn't see him for three weeks. 'Wait, that was only two weeks ago ' she thought. So much had changed. She had been through so many emotions. It felt like they had spent a life time together building the foundations. Four months. Her entire world changed in four month. Even with the all hate she could never understand why she couldn't regret the decision of agreeing to marry him. But know she knew, it was all leading to this.

She looked out of the window watching the morning rays kiss the tops of the golden leafed trees whilst being driven back to Delhi. Her phone began to ring. She didn't have to check the caller I.D to know who it was.

"Good morning." She said, her soft voice full of love and warmth.
"Morning." Arnav rubbed his eyes, still in bed. He was hardly getting any sleep since he got back from Lucknow and with the new season coming up he felt exhausted. It was becoming a habit in the mornings of switching his alarm off on his phone and speed dialling Khushi's number.
"Rough night? You sound so tiered." Khushi wished he just take some time off work to rest if nothing else.
"I will be fine, how are you? How is everyone at home?" He tried his best to sound as least tiered as possible.
"They are fine, they wished you had stayed longer."
"I will call uncle and aunty today... Nani and Di are missing you loads." 'And so do I.' He thought.
"And you?" She asked.
"When are you coming back home?" He asked with a sigh. She could hear his impatience of seeing her and it felt better than any 'I miss you' in the world.
"Hmm I am thinking about spending a couple of more days here." She teased.
"Don't make me come up back up there Gupta...I swear I will...and it won't be a pretty sight." He sat up in bed now fully awake with the idea of Khushi being away from him longer than he expected.
"When someone is as handsome as you, any situation can become beautiful."
"Gupta." He warned her.
"Raizada...Anyways maybe if you had left my bike I would have been back sooner...surely cuts down on the travel time." She noted.
"I am not letting you back on that death trap."He told her.
"It's not a death trap if you drive it safely...Urgh whatever I don't want to argue with you. But I swear if there is a single scratch on my bike I will be back up there quicker than you can say 'what the' to kick your butt." She warned.
"Maybe I did see a small scratch..." Arnav smiled at finally getting a chance to tease her back.
"Arnav..."She said his name in a tone which inclined 'you better not.'
"I am willing to risk my butt...If it means you get here sooner." He stated.
"I am not." She blushed on the other side of the phone. "Let's get one thing straight, you are now mine you are, in no ways, allowed to risk any part of yourself...Even when you think it's for me...Even your cute behind."
"What the- Khushi Kumari Gupta did you just call my butt cute?" Arnav asked incredulously as he shot out of bed.
"Yes I thi-." Khushi was about to give in an in depth explanation about just how cute his behind actually is, but her cut her off.
"No, don't think at all! I will have you know I have a very manly butt...Not cute." A very irked Arnav clarified. Khushi was desperately trying to control her laughter on the other side of the phone. 'So the mighty Arnav Singh Raizada seems to be conscience about his derriere.' "This is not funny Gupta." He said hearing the muffled laughter.
"Ok ok I am sorry...I know we will make a deal...You don't call me baby and I won't call your butt cute...deal?"
"But baby is a term of endearment?" He asked confused with her objection with the use of the term
"I don't like it...never have...If you wish to call me anything I can settle for the 'The queen of my heart' or 'my destiny' or even - " But she was cut off again
"Yeah...Let's not...Going back to the original plan, no baby, no cuteness. And you have yourself a deal Gupta." He said, quiet happy with the arrangement they had just come to. He was not to keen on endearments himself. He never understood why women would use the word "baby" for grown men and likewise. Khushi heard the knock on the door on the other side of the phone line.
"Di?" She asked already knowing the answer.
"Yeah I gotta go." He said reluctantly.
"Ok."She said unable to hide the sadness in her voice.
"I'll speak to you soon though." Arnav reassured her. "I'll text you when I get into work."
"I'll be waiting." She sang with a smile. The chime in her voice made him smile too.
"Ok, take care of yourself Miss Gupta cause we need to get one thing straight, you are now mine so don't you even think about causing any harm to any part of yourself...not even for me...not even your sexy behind." He smirked as he heard her gasp on the other side. Khushi was blushing uncontrollably on the other side.
"Badmash." She said knowing to well he was grinning on the other side.
"Yours truly...Ok I really have to go before Di knocks the door down, bye."
"Ok, I love you."
"Come home soon."

***

It was almost lunch time as Khushi reached Delhi. Everything had gone exactly to plan he hadn't suspected a single thing. She asked the driver to wait outside her building as she quickly went to freshen up after the long drive back and change her clothes. She was glad she had packed some of the dresses Payal had bought for her from her trip back from the states earlier in the year. It saved her maxing out on her credit card. She changed into an off white mini dress and tied her hair back into a sleek pony. If she was going to marry an owner of a leading fashion house then she would look the part. If no one else then for him. She quickly applied some mascara and red lipstick and to finish the look off she slipped into a pair of blue Manolo Blahniks. "Ok Khushi, now walk carefully you can't afford to scuff these shoes." She told herself as she left for the AR HQ.

**

Pam's eyes almost popped out of their sockets as she watched a glowing Khushi confidently stride up to the reception desk.
"Tum?!" She asked in shock "You've changed."
"Of course...it was a long drive home." Khushi stated puzzled by Pam's reaction.
"Nahi pehle tum...you use to look like an out of work rock band member and now..." Pam said staring at Khushi from head to toe.
"Ok Pam...Is Arnav in his cabin?" Khushi said edging away from the front desk, slightly disturbed by the way Pam was looking at her. Pam merely nodded. Her mouth still open in amazement. Khushi turned and made her away across the office floor to Arnav's cabin.
"Wait Paathi Jeans Sir has twelve o'clock." Pam called after her but it was too late.

***

Arnav was sat in having just finished a conference call with his London offices and was thinking about calling Khushi when his office phone rang.
"Yeah."
"Sir, you have a client here for your twelve o'clock meeting."
"What? Today?Who booked that?"
"Sir, Akash sir did I confirmed it with you yesterday."
"Who is it?"
"A representative from KKG and Partners."
"Find send him up." He said annoyed with having to deal with another client instead of being on the phone to Khushi. "Who the hell is KKG anyway?" He asked himself. He was just about to Google the company when he heard a light tapping on the door. "Come in Mr-." Arnav got from his chair and turned to greet the client.

He stood there in shock and amazement with the sight before him. He wanted to believe he was not going mad. That she was standing there in front of him.
"Khushi...?"
"Mr Arnav Singh Raizada, may I come in?" She beamed before hurrying into his arms. He had to steady them but once he felt her against him he knew this was not a dream. It was better. He tightly wrapped his arms around her. Breathing in her scent, feeling the softness of her skin. His heart ecstatically jumped in his chest with her in his arms.

"I missed you." He whispered against her shoulder. His hot breath against her skin left Khushi breathless.
"I couldn't stay away for long even if I wanted to." She pulled away wanting to look at his beautiful face.
"Lady, three days was too long." He pointed out. Khushi began to bite her lip. "What did I tell you about biting your lips Miss Gupta." He said in husky tone, her plump red lips beckoning him. She closed her eyes and gave in as she felt his sweet breath on her lips. Just then the phone began to ring. Khushi heard him growl, which made her smile, as he tore himself away from her.

"What is it Aaman?" He almost seethed. Khushi took a little walk around the cabin as Arnav continued his phone conversation. She used to fear stepping into this office as an intern. She often used to refer to the office as a jungle with its employees as chimps and ASR the ferocious lion and this office his den. She guessed that she would now be the lioness.

Arnav watched as she reminisced about her time there. He noticed her confidence. Something she lacked in when she had been in his office before. She looked gorgeous in the simple dress which complimented her curves. As formal as she looked he still saw parts of his Khushi with the choice of bright coloured pumps and lipstick.
"Done?" She asked as he put the phone the down.
"Done." He confirmed
"That Aaman sure knows how to call at the wrong times." She said walking slowly towards him. He began to walk towards her as well. She placed her hands on the lapels of his jacket and looked up at him through her eyelashes.
"Ready?" She asked. Arnav was confused, 'what kind of kiss is this going to be that I would to prepare myself for?' He thought. But nodded slightly none the less. "Good lets go I am starving!" She said clapping her hands together and leaving the office."What? Where are you going?""We. We are going for lunch. Come on jaldi karo." She said waving at him to follow her."But I thought..." Arnav thought out aloud."You thought what Mr Raizada? That this was going to be one of those meetings?" She teased as she winked at him. He began to take long purposeful steps towards her. Khushi recognised the look the in his eyes and found it hard to catch her breath. She took a step back to find the cold hard glass wall and in front of her was the hot blooded Arnav.

"Miss Gupta, not here, but one day I will get you back for all your teasing." He said in a husky voice whispered into her ear before placing a light kiss under her jaw. The simple touch sent bolts of lightning through Khushi's body.
"I look forward to it Mr Raizada." She said looking into his eyes with desire. "But for now," she continued as she gathered her thoughts, "can we get something to eat?"

***

Lunch was a success. Khushi was overjoyed with how the day had turned out so far. How Arnav was the first to meet her when she got back. 'Arnav.' She thought. She was still wrapped up in his thoughts as she reached her apartment. She opened the door and braced herself for the telling off she would get from her aunt.

"Kannan?" She asked in disbelief. A tall and dark young man stood in near the entrance with a bouquet of flowers. His bright, warm smile lit up the whole space. "Oh my, it actually is you!" She exclaimed.
"Hey hey Mike. How's my beautiful girl doing?" He said opening up his arms as Khushi ran into them. He spun around as Khushi squealed with joy. "Whoa one second one second...is that ...are you wearing heals?" He asked in amazement.
"Where the hell have you been bholu?!" She asked pushing him away from her. "E-mails, texts, phonecalls, messages, letters! I have wrote letters to you dammit! Where have you been?"
"You got the bike right?" He asked excitedly.
"Kannan I am this close to killing you...I swear." Her eyes were filling up with tears as she remembered all the times she had needed him and he was not there. She remembered the loneliness.
"Hey hey come here Mike." He wrapped her arms around but she kept fighting him off.
"Go away you stupid idiot!" She shouted at him but he continued to try and comfort her. Eventually she gave in. "I needed you Kannan." She sobbed.
"I know sweetheart. I am sorry."

Khushi was on the sofa whilst Kannan was making his famous coffee for her in the kitchen. She still found it hard to believe that he was here.
"How come you were in Lucknow for three days...Madhumathi flipped out when she read your note in the morning."
"You were here."
"Babe, I got here three days ago been waiting for your ass to get back home." He poured the creamy liquid into two large mugs and brought them over to the sofa. "I am sorry, I am very very sorry...But I was mad at you and you knew it." He reminded her.
"It's not like I had a choice." She tried to explain.
"You always have the choice Khushi. And you made the wrong one." He argued.
"You should have stopped me then." Though she was glad he didn't.
"You shouldn't have asked me to leave." She could see the heartbreak her words had caused him. "It felt like you threw away all our years, just like that, without a second glance for that man. A man who you don't love, who doesn't even deserve it."
"And you do?" She retorted.
"I didn't mean it like that..Look I was just waiting for you to tell me that you had called this farce of an engagement off. That you were done playing this silly game. But you never did."
"Kannan I can't-"
"You can and you will. I will. It's the only reason I am here. I've come to save you from that monster. I promise Arnav Singh Raizada will not be a part of your life for too long. I'll set you free."
