<Chapter 12>
In the morning, Gauri was the one to wake up first as he was sleeping peacefully. She was totally taken aback. She was in his arms, wrapped carefully and packed near his chest. While she held his shirt on one hand and his waist on other, he had clutched her waist and other hand in head. She did remember that she hugged him for consoling him and after that they slipped into slumber holding like that?
She saw his face for a brief 2 minutes. There was so much calm and peace in the sleeping face. She was admiring his sleeping state and when he moved a little, she tried to slither away from his hold without waking him up. But to her dismay, he immediately opened his eyes, when she took his hand away from her waist. He saw her wrapped in his arms and looking awkwardly uncomfortable. He immediately took his hands out realizing their state. Gauri got up from the bed and they both were looking in different directions to ease out the awkwardness.
"Main fresh hoke aati hoon" she ran away. Omkaara was lying in the bed, thinking. They slept in each others arms. Finally his crazy heart had its way?
He didn't feel anything awkward but did feel it a little strange. How can he end up sleeping, hugging her? He wasn't comfortable with any woman unless he is into her. It's very difficult for him to fall for a woman, on the first place. His girlfriend of 5 years Ridhima used to complain about his space issues and he was self proclaimed commitment phobic. But his entire dynamics changed when she was with him. He went touchy with her when it wasn't necessary and wants her reciprocity in the same. He feels comfortable whenever she is nearby and he wanted her to give him attention? What the hell happened to him?
She came back fresh as dew, his thoughts cleared away and all he could do is to look at her dressing herself up in the mirror. Infact gaze at her. She was aware he was looking at her and chose to ignore his looks. She never wears her mangalsutra since she wanted to avoid people asking about it during work. Today she wanted to wear it. Tu pagla gayi kya, Gauri? Kya hua tumhe? She asked herself.
He went to freshen up while she took the mangalsutra, wore it and hid it under the collar neckline and covered with dupatta. When he came out, he was looking at her in a weird sense. Why has she draped the veil like a table cloth, so tight around her neck?
He was pulling out his suits, while she was checking for her messages since she was out yesterday. She had night shift today as well and she had to cover an extra few hours. She took her pocket diary out of drawer and noted down few things and while keeping it inside, her veil got stuck to the drawer and she closed it without noticing. Her veil came down when she moved from the place, revealing the mangalsutra that she has been trying to hide. She was nervous to get it up while he noticed it in her neck. He was well aware she doesn't wear it, to hide that she is married, in her workplace. She noticed him lookin at her strangely enough and left with all hurriedness.
She went to meet Jhanvi. Omkaara was leaving late for an assignment in the morning. She had to take something in the room so she crossed the living room. Omkaara came out of the room and was sitting in the living room as well. She saw him, smiled and crossed over. When she came back, there was Svetlana was walking close to Omkaara. Gauri was shocked. Omkaara held a disgusting face and was about to walk inside when she blocked his way
"Svetlana.. how many times do I have to say you.. please leave me alone
"Omkaara chillax.. I am here to discuss with you about the deal that we had before the prenup.
"What deal"
"baby you promised me to give register a penthouse for me in the Worli area, right?"
"Yeah. We had mentioned it in the prenup. But now that's not valid so technically, I am not bound to give you that?" Omkaara raised his eyebrows.
"What if I get it from Tej. Will it be ok for you baby"
Omkaara face twitched in pain and angst. This woman is not going to let them live peacefully. Damn, his father..!!
"Svetlana" he raised his voice. Meanwhile Jhanvi was also there, so Omkaara wanted his already recovering mother shouldn't get affected by her.
"Mom" he tried to move near her.
"Om.. Baby. Itna bhi kya jaldi hain. I know you don't want me to take up Option T. Why don't you marry me. Mujhe kuch agreements nahi chahiye iss bar. Why don't you divorce this behenji and marry me? I will only be your wife and you don't have to worry about your mother's life anymore" Svetlana now wrapped both her arms around his neck and leaned towards him. Omkaara's disgust increased and he was literally holding her away from him. She caressed his neck and stubble. How she wished she could have this man, now? That poor bi**ch..
Omkaara wasn't able to bear and pushed her hands away. She wasn't heeding to any of his disgusting looks. She continued to feel his arms, biceps and rested her hands in his waist. Omkaara was now pushing her away as civil as he can, so that she gets away from him.
"Haath Hatao" He heard a voice so powerful, which he never knew, existed.
Everyone were shocked to hear such a commanding voice. Omkaara turned to see his little minion wife standing with a furious rebuking expression. He was taken aback.
She walked towards him and Svetlana with her eyes fixed on Svet.
Svetlana got furious. How dare this stray chick insults Svetlana?
"Maine bola Haath hatao"
"How dare you..tum hothe kaun ho mujhpar chillane wale?"
Gauri came near and literally removed her hands of him and stood between him and her. Omkaara was looking astonished at his little wife turned warrior today. "Yeh mera pati hain aur tumhe iss ghar se koi lena dena nahi hain. So apni limits mein raho"
Omkaara looked at her with a glint in his eyes Did she just say that he is her husband, that too with all rightful tone?
"Hey.. apni aukaad meh raho. Yeh mat bhoolo tumhe in logon ne issthamal kiye hain to escape from the prenup. Aise mat behave karo ki omkaara tumhe pyaar karke iss ghar mein laya hain
Omkaara looked startled wheras Gauri was composed. Jhanvi looked terrified too, that Gauri shouldn't mistake their intentions.
"Wo jo bhi hain humhaari beech ki mamla hain. Main iss ghar ki bahu hoo. Aur tumhe koi haq nahi banta tum yahan aakar mere pati pe dore daalo" Jhanvi looked at Omkaara and they both exchanged appreciative glances.
"Kaun pati. Tumhe kya lagtha hain mujhe kuch nahi pata ki tumlog pati patni ki naatak kar rahe ho par andar he is treating you like a stranger?" Svetlana had to settle scores with this little monster.
Gauri still was very composed while Omkaara again gave a jerky reaction at his mother.
"Wo humhaari private matter hain. Tumhe interfere karne ki zaroorat nahi. Tumhe sharam nahi aati doosron ki pati ki saath aise illegitimate rishtha banane mein. Pehle papa ke saath aur phir usiki bete ke saath banane aayi ho? Kehne mein bhi sharam aati hain mujhe par tumhe aise cheez ki naam or nishaan nahi patha"
"Shut up. Tum apni aukaat bhool rahe ho. Main chahthi hoon toh Omkaara ko badnaam kar sakthi hoon. He was engaged to me and he married you. Main media mein bahut badi issue kar sakthi hoon and I bet you don't even know who Svetlana is"
"Yeh sab dhamkiyan bahar walon se jaake do. Main tumhaari upar harassement case dal sakthi hoon, ki tum mere pati ho harass kar rahi ho. Wahan dekh rahi ho, CCTV, usme living room ki footage hain. Yeh sab bhi record ho chukka hoga" No one expected Gauri to bowl Svetlana out in this way.
For once Svetlana became silent and Omkaara looked at her with widened eyes. He is witnessing her bold avatar for the very first time.
"Jhanvi. Aise silently kyun kade ho. Tumhaari iss naukarani se kaho wo apni tameez bhool rahi hai. Tum jaanti ho na Svetlana kya kar sakthi hain"
She flicked her fingers before Svetlana's face. "Hey chant chirayya.. Ek aur bhaar maa ko dhamki diya na.. to mujhse bura koi nahi hoga. Main tumhe sirf 5 minute deh rahi hoon, yahan se jao. Warna security log tumhe bahar phek denge"
"You bloody b**ch.. tumhaari itni himmat? Mujhe abhi tej se milna hai. Tej.." she started shouting. Omkaara got furious and was about to shout while Gauri interefered.
"Shut up. Humhaari ghar pe aake aise chillana hum allow nahi kar sakthe. Yeh koi aam insaan ki ghar nahi hain. Agar papa ji se milna hain, uski appointment lo.. security ko inform karo aur agar Papaji tumhe milna chahthe hain, to mil lenge. Aise ghar mein aake chillao mat. Main 10 tak ghinoongi usski andar tumhe yahan se chale jaana chahiye. Agar nahi hua na. main Khannaji ko phone kar rahi hoon wo tumhe uthake phek denge"
"You poor brat.. tumhe pata nahi Svetlana kya kar sakthi hain. Tumhaari chapter hamesha ke liye finish nahi kiya na.. main Svetlana nahi hoon" She shouted at top of her voice and turned to leave.
"Yeh sab dhamkiyan kisi aur ko jaake do" She stood rock steady. Svetlana went off in a highly infuriated state. There was a heavy 2 minute silence while Jhanvi and Omkaara kept looking at Gauri with an unbelievable expression. Gauri went to Jhanvi.
"Maa.. aap botox kumari ki baat seriously mat lijiye. Wo kuch nahi kar sakthi hai. Aap relax kijiye" She held Jhanvi's hands.
Jhanvi came out of her shocked state. She held Gauri's hands "Gauri..Pehli baar tumhe aise baat karke dek rahi hoon. I must say you did a fabulous job in driving her out. Par wo bahut dangerous hain Gauri. Wo apni marzi ke liye kuch bhi kar sakthi hain. Mujhe darr iss baat ka hai, kahin wo tumhe yaa om ki life mein problems kade na kare"
"Maa. Please aap darna mat. Mujhe wo kuch nahi kar sakthi hain. Main iss se darne waali nahi hoon. Rahi baat Omkaaraji ki, agar usko badnaam karne ki koshish ki hum bhi humhaari taraf se kuch na kuch karke usse galat prove karenge. Aap fikar mat kijiye maa"
Jhanvi hugged Gauri "Gauri. Kya tumhe lagta hain ki humne tumhe isthamal kiya hai apni selfish iraade ke liye"
Gauri held her tight "Maa yeh aap kya keh rahe hain. Wo pagal chirraya aake kuch bhi bole, main maan loongi kya? Aap aise mat sochiye. Ab aapko wo anti-depressant tab leni hai. Aayiye main deti hoon" She whisked Jhanvi away into the room while omkaara was watching all this as a silent spectator.
In his heart, he stopped fighting something.
