Chapter 3
Davayi ka dabba
"I have gone through the numbers I think we should stick to them. I am never comfortable with last minute changes. The entire design and plan for the car would be presented by Om and the marketing plan by Rudra. I want everything to be presented in an organized manner and without glitches. Where is Rudra?
"Sir RSO is with the marketing team right now.
"Cool Shivaya Singh Oberoi dismissed his company secretary once he was at the door of his room. He entered his sanctuary to relax for a few minutes before going for the big meeting. His head was pounding at a speed of million smashes a minute. He collapsed onto the couch and closed his eyes hoping that the ache would go away. He rubbed his temple vigorously trying to get some relief but then got up with a jerk and rushed to the armoire in the room and literally brought eighty percent of the armoire down.
"Where has that bloody thing disappeared? He cursed and brought the remaining contents of the armoire down. Suddenly a mahogany colored boxed caught his eyes.
"There it is. He rushed to that box and opened it with such urgency as if his very life depended on it. He pulled out seven different pills, gulped them all together and then plopped down on the couch again. He closed his eyes and waited for the meds to kick in.
For past fifteen minutes she had been staring at this creature now lying in front of her totally exhausted and drained. She turned her head to see the chaos lying on the floor and on the bed. She swallowed her saliva as softly as she could for the fear of waking him up again and seeing yet another of his episodes. She was sure that what she had seen was panic attack that too one that could bring disaster. She scrutinized the person infront of her once again and then took his wrist carefully in her grip. Once convinced that for now this person was Ok she breathed out realizing she had been holding her breath for quite some time now.
Shivay felt warm feather like sensation on his fingers for a split second and then it was back to the dry coolness that the air condition brought in this entire office. He felt better the thumping pain in his head had now subsided into a minor ache which he could handle. So he brought himself to open his eyes abruptly though the medicines were now causing him some drowsiness but that was nothing he could not handle. He got up fumbling a little, he jerked his head trying to get rid of this fuzzy feeling.
"Yeh aise sar ko jhatka dene se kuch nahi hoga. Yeh jo kilo ke hisab se davayein andar daali hain aapne yeh aapke hosh to bahar nikaleinge hi. She said in a tone laced with mockery.
"What? He looked up at the source of the noise. It took him some time to blink his eyes. The person, no the girl, no the woman in front was like an apparition in white, she struck him like a bolt of lightening and he was left soaking wet .
"Are you mad? he literally roared and tried to rise from that sticky couch but could not stand for more than a minute.
"Who are you? He thought he had roared but he was barely audible and his voice was also fading into oblivion.
"You need to eat Mr. Oberoi. Anika rushed to his side with the box of drugs in her hand.
"Tell me which ones did you eat Mr. Oberoi. She waited for him to respond but he was slipping away. She immediately splashed his face once again with water. "Shh...Show me, Show me the strips and don't you sleep. You need to stay awake. She rinsed the end of her duppata and placed it on his fore head.
"Omkara your brother has consumed too many medicines? she called Omkara. She disconnected and turned towards Shivay once again. " Common, common you Kanji aankh look at me . She was now kneeling down in front of him holding both of his hands. She wiped them with her wet dupatta and opened top few buttons of his shirt. He tried to grab her wrist but he was too weak to do any thing. She opened his buttons further and rushed to the washroom for towels and a bucket of warm water. She dipped the towels in water and sponged his chest and washed his face yet again. He was feeling refreshed and once again was trying to stop Anika but she was like an insistent pest, now trying to take of his shoes and socks. He looked at his watch, time was running real fast he just had 45 minutes before they went for the collaborators meeting. Just then Omkara and Rudra barged in. Shivay felt relief wash over him atleast he was not in some strange place where this blabbering bundle of white was literally stripping him of his clothes with perfect ease and he was unable to do anything about it.
"Omkara what took you so long? He took so many medications and is unable to tell me what all he took.
"He is on prescription drugs alprazolam, brufen, antihistamines, and blood pressure reducers.
"I think he took all of them together he is having an attack of vestibular ataxia. You keep sponging him. She rushed to get her bag and pulled out her stethoscope and placed it on his chest. Shivay once again tried to free himself from her but she was yet again insistent. His heart was beating alright just a little slow but alright.
"Do we have a BP Machine here in the office by any chance? Rudra jumped into action who uptill now was trying to figure out who she was and how she was here and her familiarity with Omkara. Anika grabed the machine from his hands "You can gawk at me later for now call your general physician. She checked his blood pressure which was low but not critically low. "He needs fluids, water with salt and sugar. She once again barked the orders. The doors opened suddenly and in came a full blown makeup counter.
"Shivay baby. someone cooed in his ears and he grimaced at the tone. He was still unable to raise his head without this nagging feeling of the entire world spinning.
"Here drink this? She ordered taking the glass of sugar salt solution from the person who brought it in.
"Common Mr. Oberoi sit up straight. Seedhe hoke baithiye. Anika pulled him up and placed her palm right under his neck. "Look at me, what you are feeling is a mild case of ataxia, or overdose. Aapka blood pressure kam hai isko peene se theek lagega. He looked into her eyes full of genuine concern and no overdose of sugary love. "You are alright, itna kuch nahi hua hai aapko. Breathe deeply. Saans lijiye gehri. Aapko accha lagega. She coaxed him to drink the glass of fluid. It tasted weird and insipid he tried to push it away with the back of his hand. "No drink the whole thing. Her tone was laced with a measured amount of strictness, it worked every time. She was used to handling the most difficult of patients. Working at AIIMS New Delhi came with boat load of perks. The first one the doctors learn how to deal with high end patients and also how to nip their tantrums. She had dealt with more than her fair share of business men, industrialists, and above all politicians. She handled them all with a bring it on attitude, the wackier the better. Anika held the glass till he swallowed the last drop.
"Lick it. she brought her palm close to his face which had a pinch of salt on it and Omkara and Rudra looked at each others face. Once again Shivaya tried pushing her hand away but failed though Anika felt more strength in his push, "are you feeling better? Instead of responding her he tried getting up but sat down back as his head was not yet ready to give up that roller coaster ride it was on.
"Yeh baar baar oot ke jaise kyoun khade hone lagtey hain aap. It will take time. Padey rahiye is couch par whale ki tarah.
"Anika tum yahan? She looked up at the source of this sound and passed the brightest smile to the person standing on the door.
"Wo main ... Omkara leke yahan aa gaye mujhey station se.
"Oh! how are you feeling Shivay? This is not a time to fall sick
"I am better bade papa. Shivay managed to speak. Tej looked at Anika.
"Over dose of prescription drugs.
"I am good now. Shivay glared at her.
"Shivay baby you have such an important meeting in next 20 minutes. Try getting up baby. I don't think your brothers can manage without you baby.
Anika was now standing close to Omkara and Rudra
"How funny adults won't be able to manage a project without a baby. And Rudy was bowled over by her guts.
"I think Omkara and Rudra you should make a move for the meeting Shivay will join you once he feels better. Tej said in a tone that challenged them to dare argue with him. "Anika can you stay with him for a while more till he is good enough to go to the meeting.
"I would not advice him walking around today. He needs to rest.
"Who ...has... given you this capa...city to advis...e me? His speech still slurred.
"Khade ho jao ! Nahi ek baar iss samay khade hoke dikhao. She challenged him. He tried getting up but his head was just being a pain in his butt. He slumped back into the couch.
"Bloody hell! He cursed
"Bloody hell Mr Oberoi. Wholesale mein dava khane se yahi ..yahi hell hota hai.
"Shivay Baby did you eat some Indian medicines instead of the ones I brought for you from Sydney.
"Yeh internet wali amma hain she whispered to Omkara and he stared at her as if she had grown a horn. "Bhool gaye FYI type internet wali gudiya yeh baby' wali amma hain. Omkara was finding it extremely difficult to contain his laughter so he coughed instead.
"Yeah Lady baba hain. Main Rudra. Rudra extended his hand to her with a wink.
"Main Anika. She took his hand and gave him her full voltage smile.
"Get going guys and this was highly irresponsible of you Shivay. He said in a cold tone.
"Shivay try coming as soon as you can. Omkara gave him a hug and left with Rudy.
"When are you meeting Samar?
"Arround four, uncle that is if he does not have any emergency.
"I will leave a message at reception you will have a car and a chauffeur with you.
"I Am good uncle. I will take a cab, I don't need a car. She said fidgeting with her wet dupatta as Tej was trying to fix her with his ever present frown. When he saw that was not going to work as it did on his own children he said, "I am not asking you I am telling you. Once again a final order and she chose to remain quite.

Chapter 4
Shivay is a baby.
Shivay was now getting that headache back and he held his head in his hands tightly.
"Bahubali!
"Hain??
"Nahi jaise aap apna sar daba kar chur chur karna chah rahey hain ussey lag raha hai mujhey aap khud ko Bahubali samajhtey hain.
"O! Shut up! He screamed "Are you mad? Na jaan na pehchan main tera mehman. Ho kaun tum?
"I am not mad Mr Oberoi you are and agar aap aisai dawaiyan churan jaise khatey rahey you would be a gone case for sure. Abhi aap shut up karke baithiye chup chap aankh band karke.
"I am going for that meeting.
"Main kya aapko Nirupa Roy ki aulad dikh rahi hoon jo aapka haat pakad ke boloongi O! betey! Mat ja bhagwaan ke liye ruk ja. Jao bilkul jao pair ke bal nahi jaa saktey sar ke bal jao.
"My God kya ...! He scrambled for words to say what he wanted to. He truly had never met a person like her.
"You are so loud!! He finally was able to say something and tried getting up this time he was able to stand up but still that odd feeling of the world spinning around was still there. Just then a man in his early fifties entered.
"Sir
"Doctor, I have never been so glad to see you in my life. I need to attend this meeting and I think I took a little too many meds. He said boring his blue eyes into her face. Some thing was very striking about her face , a genuine smile may be or her twinkling eyes, or her freshness, she actually was like fresh breeze near the sea beach that too early in the morning.
"Something is wrong with me. This room is suffocating he said looking straight at her as if to tell her that she was suffocating him. Anika was no idiot she understood the insinuation but Tej had asked her to stay back with him so she just gritted her teeth to put up with this brat. She promised herself that she would teach him a lesson.
"Hallo doctor how is he now? baby once again entered cooing and wooing all at the same time but achieving nothing. Just that she was not alone this time she had a man tagging along with her who looked more like a puppy.
"He is not too good, he did take a lot of medicines.
"I don't want to hear this, bull shit doctor. I need to go for this meeting so give me damn something.
The utter disdain with which he spoke to the elderly doctor hit Anika straight in her gut. She felt like giving him piece of mind but then some good sense prevailed and she refrained instead she just stood there numb probably from the Insult or perhaps because of his petty attitude. Whatever it was Anika found her self suddenly facing a mirror. Something cracked within and she pulled herself together and walked away to the window.
"Intra nasal flumazenil again, though we had just given it to you two days back The medicine's name alerted Anika. It was not some ordinary antidote. This was one medicine which could cause seizures and it was not to be administered this easily. More over it was not an overdose of sleeping pill. She wanted to speak something but then decided against it. She was in no mood to get insulted again. She took quite an audible deep breath and Shivay looked in the direction of the source.
"Maine socha tha main kuch boloongi nahi par it would be against my work ethics and responsibility. Please bear with me I will try to be short and simple. Flumazenil is meant for Benzodiazepine over dose or sleeping pill overdose which is not your problem. If you just drink more fluids may be some thing with mild caffeine and hydrate your self more you will be alright in a few hours. Aur issey pehle ki aap apni badtemeezi ka behetareen namoona mujhey dubara dikhayein I will take your leave. Mera kaam tha aapko sach batana wo maine kar diya manana ya na manana aapki marzi. Anika could not take all this mess any more and she started to walk out.
"Ruko, the way you took care of me and the way you talked about medicines I think you are the nurse that bade papa was about to hire for Dadi. Dushyant can you please see that she is sent home safely.
"Ek baat bataiye Mr. Oberoi are you always aisa intelligent ya aaj hi asmaan se dimaag gir para aapke sar par to soch rahey istamaal kar loon jitna kar sakta hoon. Waise I think you are good to go for that meeting. She stomped out.
"Yeh pagal hai kya, kya bolti hai, na fulstop na coma. Koi isko ... He was literally wanting to pull his hair now.
"Shivay baby you relax. Janey do usko wo nurse hai dadi ki unke paas le jaongi main. Doctor please give him that medicine that you were saying atleast he would be able to go for the meeting. Already more than half an hour is wasted.
"Tia please I am alright and I don't need any medicine. He snapped at her and freed himself from her proximity as if he wanted to be rid of a disease. He never felt this repulsed from Tia his fianc. She Had been a pest these past few months all the time talking only about this collaboration as if it was all that had some meaning. He felt that he as a person meant nothing to her. He gathered himself up and walked away from the room.
"Shivay... She was abruptly paused by his index finger and he left.
"Thankyou Doctor Dushyant tried to make the situation light.
