Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to present Devdas at Cannes Film Festival once

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been making
us proud by being a regular at the Cannes
Film Festival since 2002, when she, along
with Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay
Leela Bhansali presented their film, Devdas.
After that she was part of the jury at the film
gala in 2003. And then she attended the film
festival as the brand ambassador of L'Oral
Paris. Well, 15 years later, Aishwarya is going
to present Devdas at Cannes once again. It is
the 70th anniversary of the Cannes Film
Festival and 20th anniversary of L'Oral
Paris' association with the festival. So, as
part of the celebrations, there will be an
Open Air Cinema gala that will feature films
of six of L'Oral Paris brand ambassadors,
one of them being Aishwarya.
L'Oral Paris Open Air Cinema event will be
held from May 17 to May 22. Aishwarya will
be walking the red carpet on May 19 and
will be reliving her 1st time at the Cannes
Film Festival by presenting Devdas on May
20.
We are sure that Aish is super excited about
reliving the iconic moments all over again. In
an official statement issued, Aishwarya
commented on the first time that she had
attended the film festival. It read, "We
attended the Festival not just as artists but
as proud representatives of Indian cinema,
showcasing a film that meant so much to us.
The kind of reception we got for the movie
was truly overwhelming and I will cherish it
all my life."
The first time Aishwarya presented Devdas
at Cannes in 2002, the movie had received
an overwhelming response. During a recent
media interaction she reminisced as to how
she was a little apprehensive about the
runtime of Devdas, as an audience. She also
remembered how they had received a grand
reception at the screening. "They made the
reception so wonderful by actually creating
this little ride up in a horse carriage...The
three (Aishwarya, Shah Rukh and Bhansali)
of us went up and we truly felt like we were
representing us. It just felt glorious from the
first step on the red carpet," she gushed. We
hope that the experience is the same for
Aishwarya this time too.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Devdas is one of the
many movies inspired by Sarat Chandra
Chattopadhyay's 1901 novel. Though it
remains the most popular adaptation. The
movie starred Shah Rukh Khan as Devdas,
Aishwarya as Paro and Madhuri Dixit as
Chandramukhi. The movie was known for its
cinematic magnificence, lavish sets, fabulous
costumes and riveting performances by all
the actors.
