A stressful day ended as soon as I jumped into my bed to get some peaceful sleep. Pulling the comforter over me, I covered my whole body with it. I found it so comfortable and safe to sleep under the warm sheet of cloth on such cold nights. It always hid me from the external unwanted intrusions like a wall around me and it protected me throughout the night from the bloodsucking vampires, if there is any.
The city was still wide-awake and the lights from the streets illuminated my room slightly. Smiling happily at those cute lights peeking through my window, I fell asleep. Though before I could even get a half an hour sleep, a loud noise blared inside my room from my mobile making me jump a few feet above the bed level. Groaning at the person's timing who decided to call me at the unusual time of the hour, I snuck out my hand to pull my phone from my bedside table. As soon as my eyes met with the caller's name, I frowned.
He never called me at this hour.
A sick feeling took over me and bile rose up in my throat. Controlling my heart beats, I calmed myself before accepting the call.
"Hey Shivam,"
His name rolled out of my tongue dryly and I smacked myself for that. I know he could easily pull out the uneasiness of my tone. I was currently sailing through a guilty boat, making things awkward. However, his reply surprised me.
"Hey baby," he slurred.
Is he drunk?
I grimaced at what he called me. Baby! Such a cheesy word.
"Are you drunk Shivam?"
"Yup, I am...No, I am not drunk, but I drank a little." He giggled and I rolled my eyes at his stupidity.
"Where are you?"
I stood up from my bed after removing the blanket, which was tangled in a mess around my body. I was out of my sleep, all tiredness went out of the window.
"I am at a barrr" he stretched the letter r'. This time I stopped myself from rolling my eyes at him.
"Cut the call Shivam, don't disturb her."
I heard a familiar faint voice from the background.
"Are you with Swayam?"
"Yup," he popped p'.
"Is he drunk too?"
"No, he isn't."
"He said you will pull his eyes out if he drinks." He said that with an emotion, which I could not really fathom, his tone was different. He dryly laughed along with it as if he was challenging me to correct him. "You have never told me that," he accused.
"Because, I've never told that to anyone, this Swayam," I muttered. He might have reasoned.
"Give the phone to Swayam."
"Why? Now you don't want to talk to me too."
"Shivam you are drunk, tell him to bring you to the hotel." I was frustrated by the time; he was simply testing my patience.
"I am at the hotel babyyy, but at the barrr in the basementtt." He stretched it how much he could, and I cringed at his Baby'.
"Shivam, bas now stop it...we will go back. You drank too much." I heard swayam talking.
"Hehe, I know that Swayam," Shivam said, and hearing them talk, through a phone made me feel a third party trying to eavesdrop.
"Let's go,"
"Shivam please go to your room, we will talk tomorrow." I interrupted them attracting their attention towards me; they rather forgot that I was there too, on the other end of the call.
"Yes, we will talk tomorrow."
"Yeah." Before I could cut the call I heard him.
"But I didn't ask her that," he sounded like a baby who wanted to talk to his dad after a long wait, but couldn't.
"What is it?"
"Sharon, you..."
"Me what Shivam?"
"You love him?"
My breath was stuck in my throat hearing him and nothing came out even a breath.
"Who?" I asked, shivering. The same nasty feeling came back to the pit of my stomach and I felt the urge to empty it.
"Swayam,"
Though he said it vaguely, I heard it. My mind searched for options and I came up with two. One, he said that to Swayam, who was trying to bring him into the room, and the second, the worst he knows that I love Swayam.
The call ended there and I started to pace across my room, biting my nails, one thing I usually do when I am apprehensive. I waited for a knock on my door, expecting either of them, but no one came to me, so I decided to go there. Changing my nightwear to something more presentable, I walked to Swayam's room, expecting a breakdown or something bad, but to my surprise, I was bestowed with a hilarious sight...
Swayam laying on the bed flat on his back and Shivam laying over him, I choked my own spit seeing them together like that. It was not usual where you get to see your fiance and your, I am still confused about what to label Swayam, romancing with each other on the same bed.
I saw Shivam running his fingers on Swayam's stubble and giggling to himself. After a few minutes of watching it, I burst out laughing completely forgetting about what happened a few minutes ago when I was in my room. "What the hell is this?" I exclaimed, trying to control my own giggling. Swayam's head snapped to my side when he heard me.
"Thank god, Sharon, tell him to get off me."
"Why would I?" I crossed my arms across my chest and stood where I was without moving, totally enjoying his plight.
"Because he weighs a ton," Swayam exclaimed and tried to push Shivam away.
I took baby steps towards them, making sure that I took world's whole time... Swayam glared at me realizing what I was doing.
"Sharon, come here now and help me to get rid of this idiot,"
Chuckling, I pulled Shivam's one arm, he indeed weighs a ton. Struggling for some time Swayam and I succeeded and we shifted his body to the empty space on the bed.
"Thank god, you came in the right time; otherwise he might have raped me," Swayam muttered under his breath.
I giggled.
"Enjoying my expense, aren't you?"
I smiled sheepishly.
"Swayam, where are you?" Shivam interrupted us and when we turned to look back, we saw him calling Swayam using his index figure.
"God, I swear, he is worse than you when he is drunk," Swayam mumbled at no one is specifically and walked towards the bed. I stood there awkwardly, a very good and sweet at the same time bitter memories return to my mind and I again jumped into the guilt trip.
"Swayam,"
"Yeah," he turned to look at me while removing Shivam's shoes.
"Why did he drink?" I asked while sitting on the couch, which was in the corner of the room.
"Hmm, actually... I ..."
I gave him a strange look seeing his stammer, he looked nervous.
"What happened?"
"I might have told him that I am in love with you."
"Come again. I think I heard it wrong."
"You didn't hear it wrong Sharon, I told him." Swayam walked up to me and joined me on the couch, I turned to see Shivam soundly asleep.
"Ohh," I was suddenly speechless.
"Just an Ohh," He rolled his eyes.
"What else I should say?"
"At least show some happiness." He smirked.
"Should I?"
"Yeah," he nodded. Looking at his sulking face a grin formed on my lips.
Startling me, he leaned slightly; his eyes traveled to my lips, letting me know his intentions. I was tempted to lean toward him too, but instead of encouraging him, I took a chance. I stopped him by placing my index finger on his lips and nodded my head left to right, indicating a No'.
"Why?"
"Not until we clear this mess," I said sternly, I wasn't in a mood to add something more into the guilt trip I was already sailing.
"Ok." He hung his head,
"So tell me, how did you manage to make him drunk?" It did not need a rocket science to know that Shivam drank because of what Swayam confessed, but I wanted to know what he said. The thought of hurting Shivam filled me with a little abhorrence.
