Interesting concept. Just read your teaser.
It's going to be fun to see how you twist this story.
I don't think I have read anything like this before.
Looking forward to the next update!
Keep up the great work!

"WHAT? How is it the solution of any problem? It is a problem in itself!" she exclaimed, her eyes training her intense and furious gaze on him as it made shivers of fright run across his spine.

"I don't know, Khushi. Their doctor told them. We cannot question a doctor's knowledge now, can we?" he questioned, trying to sound as convincing as possible. He knew that what he was demanding of her was wrong and was trying to present it in the most polished way possible.

"Tell them that I will not do this! I will never agree to something like this, Bhaiyya. Return their contract money and cancel this contract. NOW!" she hissed, her eyes shooting daggers at him for making such a degrading suggestion to her.

"It is not possible, Khushi," he said calmly while the intensity of the glare just heightened.

"What do you mean? Why can't you call it off? Don't tell me that you thought I would agree for this," she mocked at him. Her resolve of standing strong in front of him was flickering. Her trust on humanity was being eaten away by every passing second. Her insides were being churned with feelings like disgust as bile rose up through her alimentary canal. She felt nausea-tic and sick; sick of people's thoughts and actions.

"I didn't think that you would accept it but it seems you have to. The money cannot be returned. It has been used to pay off the home loan. We were supposed to pay it off almost two years back. The money-lender was threatening to throw us out and I had to use the money. Now if we call of the contract and don't pay the advance amount, we will have face a legal suite. You HAVE to do it, Khushi," he requested. Although his words were demanding, his tone continued to plead her.

Her head almost spinned with the information she received. It felt like the destiny was closing up on her, leaving her no escape but to lose herself in the catastrophic tunnel which she thought was fortunate to evade.

"You know, Bhaiyya, it is almost like you are selling me off to pay off the loan of this house," she spat, her eyes fiery red with fury.

"Khushi, you think I saw this coming? We have no way but to comply. I already used the advance amount for the loan and if the contract is called off, we should pay the advance amount back, which we cannot. I certainly did not want you to do THIS. Trust me, I am not so cheap," he pleaded, but it only seemed to fuel Khushi's anger.

"Trust you? I would trust any person on the earth but a brother who wants his sister to sleep with someone because he was not cautious enough to wait till the pregnancy is confirmed. And trust that person who would emotionally blackmail his sister into surrogacy, destroying every dream of hers? I would rather trust a serial killer than a killer of love. You made me lose belief in love, and now you have no right to expect me to believe in love," she admonished, sarcasm dancing on her lips like never before.

"Fine, don't do it. Let Amma come to know about it. She will be heartbroken to know that the one whom she raised as her own daughter pushed her family into a legal suite. She might even disown me for suggesting this for you. I should have known. You want to break the house which sheltered you," he said, using his final and most deadliest weapon, against which he knew Khushi had no immunity - emotional blakmail.

Khushi stumbled back with her foster brother's words. Deep inside, she knew that he was right. If they face a legal suite, her darling Amma would receive the news of her son's deeds and would disown him, hurting him and her and that would not be the end of problems. She would break the house, literally.

Ocean of tears and pain streamed in the pools of her eyes, but she cared less to wipe them. She could wipe the tears away but no balm in the world would soothe her wounds.

"Consider this as the final favor from Khushi Gupta, Shyam Gupta. After this, you'll never ever be able to exploit me to your advantage. You might gain monetary profits but you have lost Khushi Gupta forever. The only reason I would stay in this house is for Amma and the only reason I am doing this is for Amma. I hate you with every fiber of my existence. Let no sister ever get a brother like you because it is better to not have a brother than to have one like you," she sobbed, walking out through the gate for some time alone.

She did not want to look at that face which threatened the most prized procession of hers. She had tied him the thread of protection seeking protection from him when in actuality he is the one from whom she needs protection.

On the other hand, tears formed in Shyam's eyes. He had never wanted to do something like he had just did but he consoled himself by telling that he was forced to do that.

After all, there were no principles in life, only circumstances.

--------------------------------------------------
Shantivan,

"She agreed for it," Anjali's statement almost made Arnav drop the glass from which he was drinking water. He had finally come out of his room to walk to stretch himself and drink some water when he faced the biggest shock of the day.

How could a person with so much of self-respect just accept his sister's proposition?

Maybe, just as you did..

A small voice in his brain answered the question rising from his heart and he knew that it was true. That moment he realized that he was not the only victim of expectations in that mess, after all, she was a bigger victim than him.

The gears in his mind moved faster than ever as he never turned to face his sister.

"Tell her to come here by eight," he commanded, his voice refusing to show any emotion.

"Tonight? But.." she said in surprise. She had certainly not expected that response.

He turned around to face her as he placed the glass on the table. "It's either tonight or never. I will send a car to pick her up.The choice is yours," he said as he staged a walk out, while Anjali took no time to decide.

That night was the sacred night.

"Hello Shyam! She should be here by 8 ' O clock. Chotte will send a car for her," she told to the receiver of the phone while Shyam Gupta received a shock for the second time that day.

He just prayed that the day ends soon and leaves without more shocks surfacing.

But when did destiny ever listen to anyone?

------

So next update it is!
