Part 13
Remorse
Two months later,
Maan and Geet were living their new life blissfully . Geet was now worried as she could not conceive even after the consummation . Maan tried to console her saying they are young and have the whole life ahead of them but Geet's worry made him sad too . "Maan, what if we will never be parents", She sobbed. "Geet, don't worry dear everything will be fine, please don't cry, we are young we have a whole life ahead of us", He hugged her consoling her. Geet stopped after a while but her mind was filled with negative thoughts, more than herself she was worried for Maan as she knew he loved children an they have been trying but still no results made her worried. "Geet please don't think so much , everything will work out", He said wiping her tears.
"And look now you are again looking like a rabbit with that red nose, the children will laugh at you", He tried to get her out of her negative thoughts. "Haww, you called me a rabbit. Then fine the rabbit is angry", She pouted forgetting about her fears. Maan was happy seeing that and he hugged her from back, "Looks like the angry rabbit won't have the golgappas which I was going to bring in the evening".
"Well the angry rabbit will think about it, now go for work", She pouted. "Geet, I like you happy and smiling, when you cry it hurts me more. I don't care about when we will have children as long as I have you, I don't need anyone", He smiled. "But Maan...", She tried. "No Geet, please just smile for me. Nothing is more important", He said. She nodded smiling. He wore his turban like he has been in the past few months so people don't recognize them. Geet wore a wig and contacts to hide her identity when she went to kindergarten to teach. Maan was working in a local bookstore and sometimes as a chauffeur. They called each other with different names in public so it was easy for them to work and hide. Geet knew she got her periods regularly and both of them were healthy but still she was not getting why they wouldn't have a child. Maan knew his wife was worried and looking at her sad face worried him, but he was happy she was smiling now.
On the other hand he was surprised to see Yash managing his company so effortlessly in his absence it has made huge profits recently . He was impressed with his caliber. He was having a video conference with Yash . "You have changed a lot , you look just like me arrogant and shrewd , you don't have to change yourself this much . You look different from what I saw you last. Thank you for making my company progress , you are quiet efficient ". Yash smiled ,"I am just doing whatever I can do ". Maan said after a moment,"I am sorry for pulling you into this and using your feelings to blackmail you into this .""You have done nothing wrong ...nothing can undo whatever I have done to her ,"He was still guilty. "But you did save her from Alisha in a way ", Maan said. "Yeah sure only to have taken advantage of her situation ", he was still on a guilt trip . He always wanted to ask Maan about Geet how is doing is she well has she forgiven me, but never had the guts to ask him but Maan read his thoughts and answered. "Listen don't punish yourself anymore , Geet has forgiven you long back and as for me , I see you as a reliable friend , its time you move on with your life too .And you did not take any advantage of her so stop thinking that".Yash had something other than that he wanted to ask so thinking something he decided to put forth the question ."Umm if you don't mind can I ask you a personal question , has Geet been able to conceive yet ", he asked hoping him to not confirm his doubts . Maan sighed , "No Geet is worried for that though I reassure her that we have our whole life , but why are you asking me this ? ". Yash did not answer that but instead asked,"Can you send me her blood samples ". Maan knew there is something the younger man is worried about so he nodded ",Okay I will do that ".
Sara was looking at the woman in front of her , like always she was in a club . She just got out with a new guy and went to her apartment .Sara followed her there , and waited for the right moment . As soon as she saw her sleeping she got into the apartment like a cat , and took out the syringe she has been carrying , since she knew she was a drug user so it was easy to kill her like this. She injected it into her skin it had a drug which would kill her and never be found in the blood . Alisha slept peacefully to her death .
Sara returned and found Yash depressed . "What is wrong ?"."She was my sister ,"he said in a weak voice . Sara got the meaning ,"Okay , then why did you let me kill her if it depressed you so much "."Because she was wrong in what she did ",He spoke in rage. "Then why do you lament over death .Have you forgotten what she did with you ... You were lucky to be saved by your mom", She said. "I remember, I do", He said. "Ayesha was my mother ," She revealed shocking him. He looked up surprised at her ",Do you hate me for killing her ", he asked meekly, he did want her to hate him ."Do you hate me for killing Alisha "."No , but I hate myself , I'm worst than her I took advantage of someone I claimed to love ...and now I'm nothing but a killing weapon , no one can be worst than me ", He broke down. "I understand how it feels ", She tried to console him."No you can never ", He spoke crying . Now that hit her in the wrong way and she grabbed his face and made him look at her ,"You know what you are too selfish sometimes, you think you are the only one huh. Mr Singhania you have no idea what it means to sacrifice yourself for the one you love. You think I enjoy killing , you know why I am like this ", She was enraged now .Yash nodded in negative, "You never told me"."I will tell you I loved a boy I knew he loved a girl he met at a party but I still loved him but my mother's lust for him made him go through various misfortunes and all I could do was watch until I took the matters in my own hands , I sold myself to save him and now I am happy as he's safe with the one he loves ", She said. "You loved Maan .." he asked shocked . "Yes I did and I won't rest until he's out of danger ", She spoke with determination. "Why do we kill and hate, I never wanted such a life ", He spoke crying now. "It is because we love , we have to protect the ones we love ", She spoke consoling him. He respected this woman but he has grown to love her for what she is , a strong willed woman who has sacrificed herself and now he will do that too . They decided to leave their pasts behind and move on to a bright future ahead of them, moving on deciding to bring the light to one another.
Maan sent Geet's samples to Yash . Now having tested that he found there were still mild traces of that drug in her blood which affected her fertility . He was about to call Maan when received a call from Sara ,"I just found out who was the woman who tried to force Maan when he was sold "."Who is it ",He asked. "Its Lyla , Ria's mom ", She told. "What but how ?", He asked. "His family was close to Geet's family and also to Ria's family . Lyla loved Geet's dad so she thought to kill Geet's mother as she wanted her dad , Maan saw her mixing something in her daily drink , but everyone thought hes a kid so must have seen the health drink and demanding to have it . Lyla vowed to destroy both the families so once her mom died she created misunderstandings between the two families . It was then after his parents death she conspired with my mother and got Maan sold to her so she could teach him a lesson but he escaped .She always wanted Geet never Ria to be her daughter due to Geet's resemblance to her father and her obsession to get him ."
Yash called Maan about the reports. "Maan do you remember who was the lady who tried to force you "."No I don't I still shiver thinking about it ", Maan said. "It was Ria's mom", Yash informed. "What but why ", He asked shocked. "I m sending you the details please check yourself. We might need a little more time to get solid proofs regarding her ", He said.Maan was shocked to read the reports now knowing why Geet could not conceive. Maan decided to make his wife happy not caring about whether they had a child or not, for him only Geet mattered, if she is there he needs nothing. If she will want they always had the option to adopt.
6 months later
Geet started taking treatment for her infertility from the last six months and soon she knew she will be able to conceive, not for herself but for Maan too .She visited her doctor who welcomed her with a smile, "Doctor, what do you think, will I able to conceive". "Yes, and it seems there was some drug which interfered with your fertility. Your tests are normal now and you will be a mother soon, but I'm sorry to say, you will only be able to conceive once", Her doctor informed. "Its okay doctor, I just need a baby so we can be happy", Geet smiled at the prospect of being a mom soon. She wanted to rush home and give this news to Maan. She could see his joy around kids he loved them and longed for one . She remembered how happy he was hearing about Ria's baby who is in her 7th month now and now Sara was also expecting too in her fourth month . "Maan, where are you", She chirped. She saw the study door open so thought he might be there. She went to find Maan but was shocked to see the documents in front of her . It was her reports sent to Maan by Yash . She snooped through other papers and got to know it all. Now she decided something . She quietly went back to the kitchen.
Maan came in with the groceries and looked for Geet .She had came out already."Geet where are you, I'm hungry", He said rubbing his tummy like a small child. Maan witnessed her depressed face and tried to cheer her up , "Geet why do you need children , we already have you ". She looked up and pouted ,"You are making fun of me , I will tell it to my brother .I knew he gave you a hard time when I went missing ". Maan recalled how impossible Gaurav became when Geet went missing . "Okay , okay I give up not your darling brother again", He smiled looking at her. "Here are the things you needed for our diner today , soon everything will be fine ", He said.
Geet hugged him suddenly and then said calmly, "Yes soon everything will be fine , I will make sure of that ".
