{Ch 15}

{Hurt}

"Khushi, ready?" He knocked the door of her room, sliding his hands in the pockets of his black tuxedo, tapping his foot impatiently. She was not able to get herself free from work early, so that decreased the time she got for getting ready for the party to mere thirty minutes.

"Yes," she said and he heard the clicking sound of the door opening.

He felt his heart beat go insane even before he saw her.

Arnav Singh Raizada, stop being a teenager. He mentally scolded himself, stepping back to give her space to get out.

She stepped out of her room, tucking the loose strand of her hair to the back of her ear. Her small silver drops dangled in the process, being put in contrast with the red of her sari.

His breath stuck in his throat.

Ethereal.

Her eyes lowered down self-consciously as she felt his gaze on her, warmth rising up her cheeks.

"You asked me yesterday about my favorite color?" He moved a step forward, and she involuntarily moved a step backward, not able to lift up her eyes to look at him. His hand went ahead and very gently grazed the skin of her cheek, feeling it burn under the skin the of his knuckles. Her eyes closed and she bit the inside of her lower lip to prevent herself from making any sound, when she heard him answer his question, "It's red, Khushi."

The huskiness in his voice made her shudder and she felt weak in her knees. She tried to take another step backwards when her back hit the wall, her tiny body caged by his huge masculine one.

"Your nose, Khushi," he shifted his hand from her cheeks to her nose and gave it a quick flick, "it's red!"

And with that, he stepped back and turned to move towards the front door, while her hand went to feel her nose. A smile crept up her lips, her cheeks emitting heat as she watched him walk ahead, swirling the keys around his finger.

She adjusted her sari, again tucked the lose hair behind her ear and followed him.

The party had started by the time they reached there. Arnav took Khushi's hand and interlaced his finger with hers. She glanced at him and relaxed after receiving a comforting smile from him.

"Khushi auntie!" Mish ran, picking up her pink-frilly gown slightly, a toothy grin making her all the more beautiful.

Khushi bent down and hugged her; her gaze shifting to a pair of golden heels that walked towards them and her hold over Mish loosened. She stood up and looked at Arnav and the lady hugging each other, followed by a man hugging him.

"Kya Arnav? You're the host and you yourself reach here this late!" She saw the lady speak and lightly hit Arnav on his arm, making him chuckle and bite his lower lip.

"Di, Jijaji, she's Khushi," he again held her hand and pulled her to his side.

"Happy wedding anniversary," Khushi smiled and extended the small bouquet towards them, while Anjali glanced her from top to bottom, throwing a fake smile at her.

"Thank you so much," Varun took the bouquet from her and flashed a genuine smile. Anjali wound her arm around his arm and excused themselves from Arnav and Khushi.

"See? It isn't that difficult!" Arnav gushed, though internally, he was just hoping that Anjali doesn't do anything that creates a scene. He knew it could prove to be a bad, bad decision of bringing Khushi to meet his family, but he thought it to be the perfect time. His sister would be busy during the party and Lavanya could be easily ignored. If, by any chance, something happens, he would manage it.

Mish pulled Khushi along with her to make her eat something, while Arnav went to the event managers to inquire if they needed anything.

"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, today we all are gathered here to congratulate the beautiful couple on eight lovely years of their marriage and wish them luck for the many many more years to come," Arnav spoke into the microphone and the hall echoed with people clapping and cheering, while he looked over Anjali who leaned her head on Varun's shoulder, blushing. "I would like to call the couple on to the stage, please."

Anjali and Varun stepped on the low-stage, facing the crowd.

"Can we have some music, please?" Arnav glanced over his side and a romantic song burst through the speakers.

Varun wrapped his arm around Anjali's waist and took her hand. He kissed it before placing it over his shoulder, starting to sway with the music. Arnav stepped down the stage and came to stand beside Khushi.

"They look so good together" Khushi commented and Arnav couldn't help but nod.

"You want to dance with me?" He asked, showing off his shallow dimples and she looked at him uncertainly. He pulled her with him on to the stage, followed by many other couples who found some place around Anjali and Varun.

"Arnav," Khushi lowered her eyes down, embarrassed by the unnecessary attention they were getting.

He lifted her one arm and intertwined his fingers with hers, taking the other one and placing it on his shoulder. His spare arm went under her arm to wrap around her lower back. Her lowered eyes lifted up, only to drown in Arnav's deep ones, as their bodies started to move with the soft music. It was not even a minute of their dance, when Arnav accidentally stepped on Khushi's foot and she yelped in pain.

"Oh no, are you okay?" Arnav asked, holding her by her shoulders. She bit her lower lip and nodded, breaking into a soft chuckle.

"What?"

"Why did you ask me to dance when you yourself don't know how to dance?" She laughed lightly, holding his coat for support.

[CENTER]Arnav's hands slipped from her shoulder down to her waist, pulling her close, "Khushi, you-"

"What?" She widened her eyes, a lopsided grin teasing him.

"Nothing," he rolled his eyes, his cheeks warming up with embarrassment.

Khushi smiled at him, lifting her hands from his coat to wind around his neck when she felt someone tugging her sari. She looked down to find Mish standing just beside them with a pouted face.

"I don't have a partner," she complained and Arnav lifted her up in her arms. She happily put her one hand in his hand and the other on his shoulder, just like she saw her mother do with her father. Khushi stepped down from the stage, watching Arnav and Mish from a distance. Arnav placed her down and swirled his finger, letting her take a round around him.

After getting done with the dinner, Khushi waited for Arnav as he saw the guests off. It hadn't been too bad of an evening after all. She was, in fact, happy after meeting his sister and brother in law.

"Excuse me, ma'am?" Khushi felt someone behind her, questioningly looking at the unfamiliar face, "Arnav sir is waiting for you in the backyard."

"Arnav?" She confusedly looked back at the front door to locate Arnav, but he wasn't there. "Alright, can you please show me the way to the backyard?"

She walked behind the man, who lead her to the backyard. He left her after reaching there and she looked around to find no trace of Arnav.

"Arnav?"

"Yeah, darling?" She heard a female voice call for her behind her back and she turned to look at a young lady dressed in a blue coloured gown with a thigh-high slit.

"Excuse me? Have you seen Arnav?" Khushi asked her politely.

"Of course," she smirked, "I see him all the time."

"What?" Khushi stepped back, a frown coming over her forehead. What does she mean?

"So tell me," she walked ahead of her, folding her arms close to her chest, "How much are you paid for doing this?"

"Excuse me?" Khushi asked, more confusion filling her veins.

"Aw come on, you don't need to act innocent with me," her smirk grew wider, "I know you know what I mean."

"I'm sorry but I don't quite understand-"

"For laying down on the road in front of a rich man's car; you must be getting paid a huge amount, right? And do you enjoy living such a luxurious life?" She again started walking around her, and Khushi's fingers curled into fists. She stopped suddenly, talking to herself aloud, "Lavanya? Is that even a question?"

Khushi's eyes closed tightly, her heart thudding against her chest.

"Arnav is such a fool. You see how much he cares for you? My poor baby, doesn't even know what a trap he is falling in!" She turned and grabbed Khushi tightly by her shoulders, "Why Khushi, why are you doing this to my Arnav? Don't you have even a bit of shame left in you?"

"Stop it!" Khushi screamed and pushed her away. It hurt so bad in her chest that she felt it difficult to breathe. Who is she to say her such things? Is she Arnav's wife? Or maybe his girlfriend?

"You stop it! Women like you should be executed! Trapping men for money, you bloody gold-digger-"

She couldn't complete what she was about to say when she felt a hot stinging pain over the left side of her face. She fell on the ground, her hands cupping her face painfully. Her blood boiled with anger as she looked up, only to find Arnav standing in front of her.

Calm down, everyone 😆 Lavanya is meant to be hated, so keep hating her -_-

I don't know why the response is decreasing with each update 🤔 Is something going too bad? Tell me, because I am not able to figure it out myself :/

I love how ArShi's comfort level increased! Arnav trying to get close to her and khushi not getting uncomfortable is a big step already!
So Arnav doesnt know how to dance but he asked her coz he wanted to be close to her?? Aww:)
Lavanya 😡 She deserved that slap! Glad Arnav was there!

oh god Arnav's biggest well wisher is here to give others lessons while she herself is doing the same.. trying to trap a rich man for his money.. Lavanya is so cheap however feels that she would have got all the answers as Arnav gave her a sounding reply it seems.. loved the update..

Their comfort level is the main thing changing right now! Even Khushi is opening up and letting Arnav in! :) He wanted to try it and Khushi didn't object as such, no matter how umcomfortable she was ;) Keep hating her 😆 Abhi next part aur bhi interesting hoga ;) So, stay tuned!
