First of all... if you havent seen the episode, please do not read this review.. š
Yet another episode centered on Cass-Winchester relation... what they mean to each other.. and how the thought of one dying invokes so much of emotion in both..
The Direction or the style of story-telling is an ode to Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs.. since i havent seen this paticular movie... i cannot exactly pinpoint what specifically reminds one of Quentin, but one scene, i feel is similar is the slow-mo walk of the trio with Mary and Wally. Maybe someone who watched the movie can tell me more.. what other scenes reminded them of QT's work.. would love to know..
Loved the dining scene at the beginning... Cass smelling the waitress cracked me up.. 𤣠Dean was more interested in Cass being set up with the waitress than the hunt š.. It was fast paced, and went back and forth with scenes interspersed with Cass getting stabbed and the Winchesters being attacked.. loved the backstory of Ramiel and Crowley... He has siblings... Amodeus and Dagon.. both of whom will make appearances in the future episodes, i believe.
Mary has not been shown in a good light at all and this continues in this episode as well... She doesnt disclose the possession of the Colt to her own sons and has no problem in allowing that slimy Mr. Ketch to take possession of the weapon.. 𤢠a big big big letdown.. even her behaviour throughout the entire episode was pissing... her quietly sneaking off while the others were busy guarding the house and waiting for the Prince of Hell to make his appearence... since when does a demon get trapped with a ring of Fire?!!! š
Crowley is his usual flamboyant stuff... whats with the dialogues... š Cass saying.. I love you to the Winchesters and Crowley admitting he was growing quite fond of the choir boy... š both an angel and King of hell.. anyway.. Crowley despite being in the bad books destroys the Lance and saves Cass... who didnt quite look healed enough.. he was still not at full strength.
Special mention... Mark Pelligrino is Back!!!!!!!!!!! š Although.. why and how when his vessel was disintegrating and wasnt strong enough to contain Lucifer... is just the tiny thing i didnt like in an otherwise marvellous episode... oh yeah.. and of course Mary's duplicity which may be the one thing that can get her killed.
Misha collins and Jensen Ackles... take a bow. š āļø
