Khushi's eyes widened as she felt his breath on her nape. The next instant, Arnav backed away and stood up. He then held his hand to Khushi, offering her his help. Khushi held the arms of the chair and got back onto her feet. Arnav clenched his jaw when she refused his help. That means she didn't trust him or there was something more. He cocked his brow, amused at her acting skills.

Khushi crossed her arms around her chest. Arnav had been to her bedroom and she needed to know why.

"Khushi, you can proceed," Arnav said as he walked round his table and then stopped right behind his chair and quipped," Or, if you have any questions?"

"Yes, I actually do have a question," she said as she squinted her eyes. He shrugged and signaled her to carry on.

"Why were you in my room last night?" she blurted out, making Arnav nearly choke.

"Adi, she knows," Arnav groaned as he threw his head backward in frustration.

"Who knows what?" Adi asked, knitting his brows.

"That Khushi, she knows I'm up to something. Well, I can't be sure but she's got reflexes, she could even make out that I'd gone to her room the previous night.." he muttered, hitting a leather chair in annoyance.

"You've been to her room?" Adi queried, feeling amused. Arnav shot him a dirty look," Don't grin like a Cheshire cat Adi, I'd been there to rummage through her documents and I've fished out the excuse that one of my folders were in her room but she did not look convinced,".

"We'll have to think of something else, I'll get going now," Adi said as he pulled the door to Arnav's office.

The glass window of Arnav's cabin enabled him to view the sky which was leaden grey, dotted with orange hues. It was nearly evening. Khushi had already left the premises and Arnav was annoyed. He strolled over to the window and stared outside.

His mental screen was animated with memories, cheerful winds of the past. Arnav recalled running in the gardens with Raj years ago. He cursed the day when Raj went abroad to studies and there, the latter's life took a U-turn after colliding with someone who ruined his life, someone who Arnav could easily exact his revenge now.

He clearly reminisced the day when Raj had called him, saying that he was in love and Arnav had warned him to be careful in these matters. He had sensed something was wrong and he wished he could turn back time to pull Raj out of the vortex of problems he got entangled into.

Arnav sighed and threaded his hands through his hair. He knew the exact way how to make people like that pay.

-Hours later-

"I'm back!" Arnav enthused as he pushed open the main door to his house. Lavanya smiled and rushed over to him and threw herself in his arms. Arnav took her in his embrace. At the same time, Khushi came down the stairs and Arnav scornfully looked at her.

Later that night, Arnav, Lavanya and Khushi were in the backyard. Khushi had been embarrassed for asking Arnav why he had been to her room. Arnav had smoothly lied that he had a folder left in a drawer in that room and Khushi had believed him. Khushi sipped onto her coffee as she stared at the stars-cladded sky.

"I need to go to my dad's place for this week. He's not keeping well," Lavanya muttered to Arnav and Khushi.

"I hope he gets better soon," Khushi said, concerned. Lavanya nodded and Arnav squeezed Lavanya's hand, "Everything will be fine soon," he said spitting the last word out, his eyes widening as he thought of something.

Khushi found it strange when Arnav's gaze landed on her. His eyes were full of...something unknown to her. He reminded her of someone but she couldn't make out who...
