6. Making an effort.
*Sharon*
World's best feeling is not having someone to wake you up from your beauty sleep, and the best of the best feelings is getting a chance to sleep until noon. I was having the best time of my life, but still, I feel so lonely here. How perfect it would have been if Swayam and I were in the same room, I thought. But No, Mr. Perfect is hell behind on making my life a hell. Muttering profanities under my breath, I walked out of my bathroom after having a hot shower. Water drops were dripping from my hair, wetting my back and the carpet; I ran my towel through it to drain them. After some time of changing and getting ready, something caught my attention, and the water formed in my mouth seeing the food on the table near the couch, all were my favorites; knowing that Swayam had done that, a smile formed on my lips, I grinned widely making my cheeks ache. I was hungry to eat an elephant, since reaching here in the morning this was the first time I saw food because I fell straight to the bed the moment I put my feet inside this room, now it might have become three in the noon.
So Swayam is making an effort.' I thought and throwing the hair dryer onto the bed, I ran towards my heaven to dig in. Now the world's awesome feeling is having mouth-watering foods to eat without caring about your weight. :p
I was in my own world, having my favorite foods when Swayam walked in, No, he practically barged in without even knocking. I would have kicked him if he had that any other time but now I don't care, as my mouth was full making my cheeks bulge like a football and some sauces were dripping through the corners of my mouth, I smiled at him sheepishly.
"Oh god Sharon, you eat like a pig." Muttered under his breath he walked towards me. After picking a tissue from the side table, he sat beside me on the couch. I thought he would give me that tissue to clean my mouth, but surprising me, he did that his own: he wiped the sauce off my lips. For a moment, I shivered with the slightest contact that made. However, without being affected he threw the tissue into the bin.
What he has made of?'
Doesn't he get affected by me?'
Silly confusions invaded my mind. Maybe you have never affected him, Sharon.'
No! That's not true, he is surely affected by me; he is just concealing it.'
A healthy conversation with your own mine is not dangerous, but when it starts to get unhealthy, you should stop it. Blocking my mind, I turned my attention towards Swayam, who was now reading a magazine.
"I have never affected you Swayam?"
Although I had asked him that, I did not want to make him uncomfortable. Silence prevailed in the room and he ignored me. "Have I ever affected you Swayam?" I asked again, this time clean and clear. I know I don't have a chance, at the same time I can't stop trying, when I keep on trying to get his attention, when I keep on trying to make an effort he just walk away, sometimes he turn his back towards me, clearly indicating that I don't have a chance. "Answer me."
"It's of no use now Sharon." He broke the long silence and continued his reading.
After that uninterested reply, I did not make an effort to talk to him for the next fifteen minutes. Finishing my meal, I cleaned my table and washed my hands when I walked back he was sitting in the position reading the same Magazine. I hope that he had turned the page; I rolled my eyes at him.
Determined to make him admit that I affect him, I sat near him facing his side.
"I have heard that."
Hearing me he did not look up, he just continued to read. Maybe he didn't hear.'
"Swayam," I called him again.
"Er, what did you say?" he asked without looking up from his damn magazine. "I missed it."
"Yeah, of course, you will miss it; I mean I heard that you called me a pig." Glaring at him, I throw a piece of apple into my mouth.
"So?" placing the book on the table, he turned to face me, now I am more interested in this talk.
"What do you mean by so? You just can't call me pig whenever you want." I stubbornly replied.
"Why?" he asked and took another magazine from the table and started to flip its pages carelessly.
'That magazine is more important.'
"You should respect me after all I am your sister in..."
I stopped there intentionally and smirked seeing his reaction, his hold on the magazine had gone tight, and his knuckles turned white, the paper crushed under his hold. I smiled, but as soon as he turned to look at me, my smile dropped, he looked so troubled, so broken. I regretted what I did, but now I know that I have always affected him, how many times he denies it the truth will never change.
"You are my sister in law, but that doesn't mean you are not my friend now. And I think I can insult my friend." Giving me a lopsided grin, he shifted his gaze and stood up. "There is a meeting in one hour, get ready... we have to attend that." Closing the door behind him, he walked away and I stood there staring at his back having no idea about his this behavior.

*Third persons's pov*
After coming back from Sharon's room Swayam called Rey. As soon as he felt that, someone picked the call, without checking who was on the other side he started to let out his frustration.
"No Rey I can't do this, this is so hard and she is making it harder."
"What are you saying Swayam?" the person from the other side asked totally confused about Swayam's outburst.
"Shivam?"
"Yeah, Rey is not here, he left his mobile with me."
Swayam's breath caught in his throat for a second, realizing that it was not Rey, who attended his call. Oh no, what I did. I hope he did not get what I was talking.'
"Swayam what were you saying and about whom? Who is she and making harder what?" Shivam intrigued.
Thank god, I did not say Sharon's name.'
"Nothing important, I was talking about one ... ha, one deal."
"Deal?"
Suspicion was evident in Shivam's tone, "Yeah..." Swayam gulped down his nervousness. "...And about one woman working here on our projects, she is one with a bad temper." he made up a story hoping that Shivam will believe him.
"Okay."
"Please inform Rey that I had called him." Without wasting much time, Swayam tried to hang up fearing that he would spill something unnecessary.
"I will and Swayam I wanted to talk to you."
I completely forgot about his message, what should I do now?'
"Yeah Shivam, I got your message, and I will talk to her. I am sorry I couldn't reply to you at that time." He hastily replied, anticipating more questions.
"You know?" he asked out of sudden.
"What?"
"You know that Sharon loves someone?"
"Shivam, woh actually..."
"Say yes or no."
"Yes."
"Thank you."
The call disconnected.
"Damn," Swayam shouted and threw the phone into the nearest wall breaking it into pieces.
"Why this is happening? Why it is happening with me, with us?" he shouted to nothing in particular.

After one hour, Swayam and I met near the parking lot and without even greeting each other we got into the car that was waiting for us to go to the meeting venue, after we both sat behind the driver drove off, to where we had no idea, at least I didn't have an idea, maybe Swayam have. Ignoring each other, we took their respecting files to study about their project. I wasn't surprised when he ignored me, that was much expected.
When I completed reading the file, I looked at Swayam who was now checking his emails on the laptop, what happened to his mobile?' I thought. That is when I remembered something; I have not informed any family member that we had reached, Why didn't Shivam call me?' I could not stop myself from thinking that and I checked my mobile to find that there were not any missed calls. I decided to ask whether Swayam got any call from him.
"Swayam, you got any call from Shivam?"
"No," he said bluntly without even looking up from his laptop screen.
"He didn't call me yet, and God knows why?" I muttered and went back to reading.
"Maybe because he knows," Swayam said and I looked up.
"He knows what? And what happened to your phone?" I raised my eyebrows.
"Shivam knows about your..."
"Mine what?"
"Rey told him everything."
"You mean now Shivam knows about us?" an unknown happiness formed inside me, some intuition that things may get better soon.
"Not about me, but about you."
"That doesn't make any sense."
"He knows about you loves someone, but he doesn't, about me being the one, in fact, he had asked me to find that one."
I give a blank look to Swayam and he nodded his head in approval.
"Now what? What are you going to do?" I expectedly looked at him,
"I don't know."
"Wow." I muttered and stared outside through the window to call him some great' words under my breath.
