The silence of the night was pierced by a gasp. Khushi woke up in a puddle of sweat as flashbacks of her dream flooded into her mind. What was wrong with her? How could she even dare to dream of Arnav and her in an intimate posture?

She tossed the quilt aside as she intook a sharp breath. She felt beads of perspiration welling up over the skin of her forehead. The AC had stopped and the humid air made her feel heavy. As she inhaled, she could make out the smell of mint, seawater, oak moss and sandalwood hovering in the air. In simple words, she smelled a male perfume. Had someone been in her room?

"Arnav, is there anything wrong? You seem perturbed recently?" Lavanya quizzed as she held Arnav's hand. "Does it have anything to do with Khushi's sudden arrival?" she quipped and he bit his lip.

"Absolutely not. It's just that there are business issues. Adi has informed me that the local currency has depreciated against the euro and since we export most our raw materials from France, this will be a problem as the firm is not in a good financial condition already..." he muttered as he got up from his sitting position. He hated lying, especially to Lavanya. But now, because of that wretched woman, he had to resort to lies.

"Alright then, I was only concerned." Lavanya said as she smiled. Arnav walked towards her and took her in his embrace. It was early morning, around 5:30. He had not been able to sleep and thus, waking up was not an arduous task. Lavanya had noticed his uneasiness and she decided to talk to him about it.

"Oh, and by the way, tell Khushi that she ought to reach Raizada enterprises at around 10." Arnav calmly stated as he led Lavanya outside in their backyard garden.

Khushi's feet wobbled as she reached the staircases. Today was her first day at work and she felt a flash of anxiety laced with nervousness. Not only was it her first day, she would also be in Arnav's presence since she was his assistant. Lavanya had conveyed Arnav's message to her and she was ready an hour before 10. Arnav had already left and the driver would be taking Khushi to the company.

Khushi politely thanked the driver as the four-wheeler stopped in front of a building. She then maneuvered her way through the flight of stairs in front of the huge building and pushed the entrance door open.

"Ms. Khushi?" quizzed a man with a crisp white shirt and looked in his early thirties. Khushi nodded in approval. The man smiled and signalled her to follow him.

"I'm Aditya Malhotra, the manager of Raizada Enterprises, "Aditya said as a smirk formed on his lips. Arnav had requested him to personally receive Khushi.

"To be honest, my subordinates should have done this task but Mr.Raizada asked me to show you around, apparently, you're acquainted to him," Aditya slyly said, leaving Khushi in a confused state. Why would Arnav provide her with any favours? He had made it clear that she obtained the job because of her CV. His behaviour was hard to decipher. She was introduced to the office environment by Aditya who also seized the opportunity to get friendly with her as instructed by Arnav.

Khushi felt less nervous. Aditya seemed nice and he made her feel at ease.

"You'll be working over here," Aditya instructed Khushi as he showed her a small cabin which was adjoined to Arnav's. She gulped. Well, she was his assistant but she felt rather uncomfortable being that close to him.

Arnav was watching his orders being processed through the CCTV cameras. Great, Aditya was doing his job. He cleared his throat as Aditya stood beside Khushi outside his office. Aditya left Khushi and winked at Arnav while going. This was just the beginning. Khushi had no idea of the aftermath of accepting the job at Raizada Enterprises.

Arnav forced a smile as he asked her to sit down. She continuously knotted her shivering fingers together. The uneasy feeling was back. She cursed herself for being so helpless in front of him. It was all most as if he exerted control over her, which in a way, was true.

Arnav cocked his eyebrow as he saw how she avoided looking at him in the eye. She must have some doubts regarding whether he is related to him. However, he didn't know why but she seemed to be innocent. He reprimanded himself and chanted that a person cannot be judge solely by his or her appearance like a mantra, hoping that he would cease to think that she had no hand in whatever happened to Raj. He had the same thoughts when he went to her bedroom the previous day at night for unknown reasons. The door was slightly open and he remembered entering the room and watching her scornfully as she slept.

"Khushi, you'll be working in the cabin adjoined next to mine and your tasks have already been forwarded to you through email. Any queries?" he stated with a firm which masked his hate and disgust for her.He so wanted to insult and humiliate her but he knew that he had to control his anger and continue with the facade. Khushi nodded and was about to get up when Arnav told her to stay where she was with a hand gesture as he got up from his chair.

Khushi's heartbeats relentlessly increased as he walked up to her pulled the chair on which she was sitting for her to get up. As he leaned closer to her, something clicked in her mind. His perfume seemed familiar. Mint, seawater, oak moss and sandalwood...that's it! He had been into her room last night. Khushi swiftly turned around to face him. She was bloody shocked. What was Arnav doing in her room? The sudden motion was not anticipated and they both collided against each other. Arnav's arms encircled her waist as they both fell on the chair. Khushi felt as if she was about to melt as Arnav inched closer to her...
