The first impression i got of manish goenka yesterday made me think that karthik was right to not like him, but i thought it was too soon to judge considering it was a short scene. However, today's episode proved my first impression of him was right and he is a completely non-caring and emotionless person who only cares about saving his reputation and his power and money. He also visibly didn't care that his son is responsible for a person's death and was so rude and standoffish with naira too. The only time he showed any emotion was with karthik, and even that was subtle through his tough demeanour.

From that short phone call, it seems karthik's step-mother does care about him too, though K neither shares a good relationship with her like his father. Naira is still visibly concerned about karthik. In fact, surprisingly she doesn't seem mad at him and seems much more concerned about his health, although she is quite obviously disappointed in the fact that he didn't listen to her when she told him to go straight home. I also realise though that naira didn't even mention to karthik that he was drunk despite the realisation that he was, and rather just kept ordering him to go straight home. He didn't know he was drunk at all so she should have reprimanded him about it over the phone, then he may have realised.

All in all, this was a heartbreaking as well as interesting episode as it gave me quite the understanding about why karthik hates his dad. I thought his dad would be a nice person who karthik merely has a misunderstanding about, but looks like it is more than just a misunderstanding, but also his father's behaviour and attitude towards relations and life.
