How to Celebrate Chic Spy Day

This day is perfect for everyone who is a fan of the timeless style of James Bond and Bond-like gadgets. There are virtually an infinite number of ways that this day can be celebrated. The best one of all is probably to organize a 007-themed party. This does not mean that everyone has to dress up as James Bond, either. Miss Moneypenny, Q, the Bond Girls - there are many different options to choose from, so make sure your guests know this so that everyone doesn't show up looking identical. As far as drinks go, vodka martinis and champagne should suffice.

If buying champagne for a group of people somewhat exceeds the budget, feel free to substitute champagne with Spanish Cava or Italian Asti Spumante - the truth is that most people can't tell the difference anyway. If you have hired a drink mixologist, make sure they're also dressed up for the occasion, with a simple starched white shirt and smart black tie. As far as entertainment goes, music is an absolute must to help set the mood. From Tina Turner's dizzying vocals in "GoldenEye and Madonna's tantalizing "Die Another Day to Adele's soulful "Skyfall, there is definitely no shortage of songs to suit the occasion. Finally, here is the recipe for the Vesper Martini, James Bond's own signature drink that he is seen sipping in "Casino Royale:

Ingredients: (serves 1)

3 oz Gin

1 oz Vodka

0.5 oz Lillet Blanc

Some lemon peel for garnish

Directions:

Add all of the ingredients in a mixing glass and fill it with ice. Stir everything thoroughly and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Add a nicely sliced piece of lemon to the drink.

They're balloons! Balloons Around The World Day celebrates these marvels that we've all experienced, and that have been used in a million different ways for a million different purposes. History of Balloons Around the World Day

Balloons Around The World Day was created by Jeff Brown in 2000 to hold up these lighter than air contraptions. The first airborne flight in a hydrogen balloon took place in December of 1783 by Jacques Charles, who determined that it would be possible based on his study of Boyle's Law. The balloon was rather an amazing innovation of technologies, utilizing silk varnished in a mixture of turpentine and rubber to seal in the hydrogen. Though they faced some troubles filling the balloon (it turns out you should really cool the gas before putting it in the balloon, as like most things it contracts when it cools) they ultimately were able to get their balloon into the air and fly it 21 kilometers north. It is perhaps unfortunate that it was subsequently destroyed by peasants with pitchforks as a terrifying unnatural phenomena.

From there balloon technology just exploded, with every possible application coming in the years that followed. In 1824 Michael Faraday created the rubber balloon, and the rest was pretty much history. Balloons have been made out of rubber, latex, nylon, foil and many other substances and in any number of shapes, sizes, colors and more. Balloons Around The World Day celebrates these creations and the parts they play in our lives!

Each year on October 5, people across the nation observe National Do Something Nice Day.

National Do Something Nice Day is very similar to National Random Acts of Kindness Day, which is celebrated on February 17.

It would be ideal if everyone lived their lives doing kind things on a daily basis and without thinking about it. Today serves as a reminder to us all, as it is easy to get caught up with hectic schedules and fast paced lifestyles, to stop for a moment and do something nice.
