Brief Story

• Surgiv and Vali fight. Ram shoots an arrow at Vali by hiding behind a tree. Vali dies.
• Ravan tells Sita that she has only two months to decide whether she wants opulent life of Lanka or hellish death.
• Sugriv introduces his army to Ram and says that they will find out the whereabouts of Sita. The army starts the mission.

Detailed Story

Sugriv once again challenges Vali. They fight. Vali is easily winning. He may kill Sugriv any moment but Ram saves Sugriv. Ram is hiding behind a tree. He shoots an arrow at Vali. Vali writhes in pain and drops down. Sugriv comes to him.

Vali – You are a cheater.

Sugriv – No brother, I did not cheat you. I did not do any injustice to you. The great soul Sri Ram shot at you. You will become immortal on being killed by such a great soul.

Ram and Laxman come near.

Vali – You are a great soul? (Laughs)No. (Shouts)You are not a great soul. You are the son a of a great king Dashrath. Still you did the cowardly act of attacking me from hiding. You did not follow righteousness. Tell me what harm I did to you that you became my enemy?

Ram – Whatever I did was as per righteousness. Because of the boon that you have, I had no other option. Therefore, I shot at you from hiding. I have no personal enmity with you. But fighting injustice is the tradition in the lineage of Ikshvaku.

Vali – Let me know what crime I did.

Ram – You tortured your younger brother and married his wife. This is an unforgivable cime.

Vali – Crime? When elder brother is alive, then younger brother announces him (elder brother) as dead takes his place as king; is this right? If I took revenge upon him, then what is crime in it? If you wanted to take revenge upon Ravan, then you should have told me. You know well that I was alone sufficient for Ravan. You would not need anybody else. You will have to bear the burden of my death whole of your life.(Yes, it is true that Vali could have easily defeated Ravan.)

Vali calms down and talks to Sugriv.

Vali – Sugriv, out of anger I did bad to you. Please forgive me. (To Ram)Give me salvation, Sri Ram.

Vali dies. Sugriv cries. Ram and Laxman console him.

In Ashok Vatika

Trijata is trying to console Sita.

Trijata – Do not be afraid, Sita because righteousness wins over unrighteousness. This is eternal truth.

(Really? Now-a-days I often find unrighteousness prevailing.)

Ravan comes there with lots of gifts. Sita does not look at him.

Ravan – Look up without any fear. Your well wisher Ravan is standing in front of you.

(Well wisher? You are continuously making her cry. And you call yourself as her well-wisher? If you are really her well wisher, then set her free immediately.) What are you thinking? What is your decision? You are intelligent. Therefore, I know that you must have chosen opulence of Lanka. I will win all the kingdoms and give those to your father Janak. There is nobody to defeat Ravan. All are Ravan's slaves. Therefore, forget Ram and accept the opulence of three worlds.

Sita looks at Ravan but after putting some grass in front of her eyes.

(In those days, it was assumed that if a woman was not interested in a man and she still had to talk to him, then she put some object in front of her eyes. This indicated that she was not interested in him.)

Sita – I, Janak's daughter, daughter-in-law of Raghu dynasty, wife of Raghukul Nandan(Ram), who is worshipped all over the world, say it in the name of Urva, the symbol of dharma and trust that if there is power in my being Sita and if you touch me, then this touch will become the cause of your death. You will be burnt to death here.

Ravan – Shut up. You spoke too much. That is because you are still respectable in Ravan's eyes. (To Trijata)Tell her that she has only two months. (To Sita) Decide whether you want pleasurable life or hellish death. Only this much for now; the rest after your decision.

Somebody was hiding and he heard the talk between Ravan and Sita. It is not shown till the end of the episode who that person is.

Ravan goes. Trijata tries to console Sita, who is crying.

Trijata – Forgive him, Sita. You are great and forgiveness shows greatness.

(But many people consider forgiveness as cowardliness.😒)

In Surgiv's kingdom

Sugriv comes to Ram and Laxman with his Vanar Sena.

Sugriv – Forgive me. There was delay because of kingly duties.

Laxman – There was delay because of kingly duties? Why don't you say that you forgot everything after getting the kingdom? What is the use of such friends?

Ram – Calm down, Laxman. I trust Sugriv.

Sugirv – Sri Ram, I will honour this trust even at the cost of my life. I have made full arrangement to find the whereabouts of Janak's daughter. Here is my very mighty Vanar Sena. Angad, the commander of the army, will tell the plan.

Angad – I, the son of Vali, promise that within ten days, we will do the work of Sri Ram. If I am not successful, then the king of Kiskindha Surgriv has the right to kill me.

Hanuman – I Hanuman, the son of Anjani and Pavan, promise that I will help to the greatest extent in fulfilling the promise given by Angad. I will come back only after finishing the work. Jai Sri Ram.

Sugriv – Sri Ram, the most experienced warrior and a great leader in my army is Jambvan.

Jambvan – I am nothing compared to these brave warriors. But I promise to you that I will keep on enhancing their morale.

Angad – Grant us permission to start the work.

Sugriv grants the permission. The Vanar Sena goes in search of Sita.

Needless to say, Sita was great and very courageous. She remained true to her husband even in such dire situation.👏
