Chapter-3

Maan got busy in his new job.. and next year Geet too finished her MBA.. she wanted to do job .. she got a nice campus placement too as she was a brilliant girl.. but as soon as his exams finished her parents got a nice proposal...

The name of boy was Dev..

He was settled in New Jersey. He was only son of his parents and was handling a big business there.. He wanted to marry an Indian Girl..He was quite smart and good looking too.. Geet tried to say no as she wanted to take her job for some time..She was not denying marriage but did not want it happen so soon but her parents convinced her saying that such proposals don't come every second day and that too without any dowry demand. They were from middle class so they were happy for their daughter who was going to get a husband who was heir of a big business abroad..And for her job they told her that she could work after her marriage.

In fact she was going to be owner of such a big business so she could join that only..Geet protested saying that she did not want to go abroad..She wanted to live in her own country near to her parents.. But her parents convinced her saying that she could come to meet them whenever she wanted..Geet's protest could not work and she said Yes for the marriage..

Maan heard the news of her marriage and he was so happy to hear that he was going to get rid of that blackmailing devil..Finally he was going to have a life free from her torture

He went to Geet's house and met Geet..

Maan-Congrats geet.. I have heard that you are going to marry dome big NRI businessman... I hope you will now get rid of your habit of blackmailing me..

Maan noticed that She did not react ..and it was very strange She was not looking happy.. Maan asked-Kya hua Geet? Why are you sad?

Geet-Nothing .. I m fine..

Maan-I know you are sad because you will miss me.. I will not be there ..Whom you will blackmail there?..Right?

And he gave a hearty laugh- I will pray for your husband Geet.. God save him from you.. and he again laughed..

and Geet smiled followed by a pout hearing him..Maan was surprised that she did not retort at him .. she only gave a smile..

Geet-I know you are very happy as you are not going to miss me It's only me who will miss you all..

Maan sensed her seriousness and asked-Geet Is everything fine?

Geet-Hmm.. everything is fine..

Maan- Are you not happy with this marriage?

Geet-It's not like that but Maan I wanted to do a job for some time after my studies..and second thing -I don't want to leave India.. I want to live here only..dusre desh me wo maza kahaan jo apne desh me hai..

Maan- You are right Geet.. I too love to live in India only..but you can come here any time you want.. I m sure your would be husband won't stop you. I must say..I m going to enjoy my free life.. where I won't have any eye keeper on me... I will be free now,.. I can do what I want..After all devil is going from my life..and he laughed..

And Geet this time genuinely smiled at his taunt-Maan I will really miss everyone..

And Maan thought in his mind -But I won't miss you at all but he did not say this to her

He said-I will try to miss you ...and both of them smiled..

Maan reached his home and seeing him grinning, his mother asked-What happened Maan..You look very happy today?

Maan-Obviously mom..I m going to be free from that devil Geet. Finally I will be in peace for ever

Supriya-Maan..Don't say like this..I love her..

Maan-Haan why not? After all you are going to miss your jasoos ..She was the one who brought all my complaints to you..and most of them were false and you believed her..

Supriya- Maan Nothing was like that.. I just listened to her to know what was going in your life and she always made me smile with her antics ..if you truly ask..I wanted to make her my DIL..

Maan's eyes got wider-Mooommm...Don't even think to think like that .Today I m 100% sure that you don't love me..If you have loved me then you wouldn't have said that,,you know na how much I dislike her.. you know it well that we are not even good friends.. If you and dad were not friend with her parents then I m sure we would have seen each other as our enemies not neighbours..

Supriya-Haan I know..That's why I m silent.. But Maan she doesn't want to go leaving country..She is really sad

Maan-I know mom. But after marriage everything will be fine..she is going to marry a very big business man she will adjust there..

Supriya-Me too hope so..

The D day came and Maan danced like insane as if it was the last day of his problems and today he was going to enjoy his independence..He met Dev and liked him as both were looking perfect with each other..

Dev was very smart but he found him little bit arrogant.. He thought that he was very rich so may be riches bring arrogance with them

Wedding was over without any hurdle

Finally Geet said bye to all but her eyes were not showing any emotion while taking the leave from all.. She knew that she would not be able to see them soon..but she wasn't crying and she did not know why she was feeling like that

Few days later Geet flew to New Jersey with her husband..

At beginning she used to talk her parents regularly.. sometimes she talked to Maan's parents and Maan too whenever he was at home while she called..Maan never called her from his side.. After being regular for few months her phone calls started to reduce and she talked to her patents after long intervals..

Maan used to visit her parents ..and he knew that Geet was not calling them very frequently. so he was frequently visiting them as he was concerned for them.. In fact he was taking care of them. He always used to go to them and asked if Rano needed anything from market?

Whenever Rano and Subodh asked Geet to come India ..she said that Dev was not having time and she did not want to come alone for the first time after their marriage..

Maan always consoled her parents specially Rano-Aunty why you are feeling sad?.. if she is not talking or coming..You can go there..

Rano-Maan that is not the point.. Geet never asked us to come to New Jersey even once.. after all we are the parents of a daughter.. How can we go to her house without any invitation?..we don't even know if Dev would like it or not.. He is always very formal with us.he talks very rarely to us.. We can't go there without their invitation..I want my daughter to live peacefully there and don't want to create any tussle between those two...

And Maan could understand the situation of Geet's parents..

And one day Geet called them and gave them a good news.. she was sounding very happy while telling her parents that she was going to be a mother.. Her parents could feel the happiness in her voice..and feeling her happiness they too felt contended. That day their every doubt about Geet.. This good news made them assured that their daughter was fine and was happy in her life.. All the feelings of fear and tension vanished after hearing that good news

Rano asked her to come India for her delivery but Geet said that she could not come as she is not feeling too healthy to fly.. so her mother instructed her so many thing to be taken care of..Geet listened to them quietly and assured her mother to be care full..

Maan's parents too used to call Geet sometimes as they were very fond of her.. and she always talked to them nicely..and Maan was getting every information related to Geet thru his parents.. He too felt happy to hear the news of Geet's pregnancy as now they were far away from each other so the irritation and rivalry for Geet had reduced in his mind and he talked nicely every time with her on phone...After getting the good news of her becoming a mother made him happy too..

He for the first time called her from his side and congratulated her.. and Geet gladly accepted his wishes..

Geet-Thanks Maan...I m really happy that you called.. Is this the beginning of our friendship?

Maan-Yes... until unless you don't start to blackmail me again..

Geet laughed-How will I blackmail you on phone?

Maan-Kyun..yahaan kabhi aaogi nahin kya?

Geet became silent for a moment and then said-I don't know Maan when I will be able to come there..

Maan asked Geet-Geet is everything fine there?

Geet-Off course Maan.. everything is fine

Maan-Hmm..I hope you are well settled there.. I mean you did not want to go at first leaving India but seems you like New Jersey a lot now..That's why you don't want to come here

Geet- Maan it wasn't easy for me to get settled here.. but I m very happy now as I m going to get someone to make me most happy.. so don't worry.. I m fine..and feeling very good at my heart

Maan asked Geet about Dev and she said that he was a big man there and was very busy with his business..

Maan-geet I want to say something to you? I hope you won't mind..

Geet-Off course Maan.. say whatevery you want..

Maan-I want to say that..Ummm

Geet-Maan Say what you want..

Maan-Geet.. I want to say that.. please don't make you daughter (If it is a baby girl) like you..

Geet-What do you mean Maan?

Maan-I mean don't make your daughter a blackmailer like you..Please give her some nice sanskaar..

And geet was so shocked to hear that and she shouted on phone-Maaannn..

And Maan laughed loud hearing her shout

Maan-Geet see ..now you are shouting..My girl friend will be angry on you for shouting on her boy friend

Geet got confused-Girl friend? Boy friend? Maan why are you talking in riddles?

Maan-Uff Geet..I think you have become dumb after going there..Girl friend..I mean the baby whom you are going to bring in the world soon.. Geet understood-ohh that way..

Maan-Yesss.. I will make her my GF and we will be ateam and I will seek revenge from you for what every you have done with poor me

Geet-Maan ..Sorry if I tortured you..

And Maan sensed her seriousness-Come on Geet..I was just joking.. and I think this Geet sounds very old type and I m not able to relate this Geet to the one whom I knew before marriage

Geet-Maan time forces us to change..

Maan-Hmmm.. achhha listen Geet.. take care of my GF.

And Geet remembered with the word Girlfriend-Maan.. have you chosen any girl for you? I mean what about your marriage?

Maan-marriage? What are you talking Geet?.. Just few months ago I got rid of a black mailer..Now you want me again to fall in the trap of other black mailer..No way..I m enjoying my liberty and independence..so for now marriage is a big no..

Geet-Maaannn..i was not a blackmailer.. It happens between friends na..and it's not necessary that all girls are same

Maan-Friends? Were we? And what if that girl proves herself like you,,No way..I m still enjoying my freedom.. and not ready to give it up soon..

Geet-Maan how lucky you are,, You are man and can decide your life but why we girl can't do that? Why we have to leave our parents forever?

Maan felt her sounding low again..

Maan-Geet... and before he could say anything Geet said-Maan I m little bit tired.. want to take some rest.. Can we talk later please?

Maan-Ok fine Geet..Bye and take care of you and my girlfriend

And he again heard Geet's laugh from other side-Ok Maan..I will... Bye

And their call ended

And the word marriage made Maan remembered his mother who was insisting him to get married but he was not ready..and the reason was Geet only..Whenever he thought about marriage Geet's face danced in front of his eyes.. and he was forced to think-If the girl is like Geet? Dominating and over smart? And he always was scared of the name of marriage and made whatever excuse before his mother..He did not want to lose his independence at least not for now ...
