Story of episode 50 -16 Nov US

Sorry for late update. Actually, I got the video link for this episode today itself.

Ravan snatches Kuber's kingdom and his Pushpak chariot.
On being provoked by Narad, they go to Yamlok and Ravan snatches Yamraj's throne. Before being defeated, Yamraj wants to kill Ravan using his(Yamraj's) rod of death, which he had got from Brahma. But Brahma stops Ravan from using that weapon on Ravan because as per Brahma's boon to Ravan, Yamraj could not kill Ravan.
Narad suggests Ravan to win over Shiv by pleasing him. Ravan does very severe penance. He even cuts half of his head and makes Veena out of the cut portion. As boon, he asks Lord Shiv to reside in Lanka. Shiv gives him a shivling and says that this shivling will protect Ravan. He warns Ravan that he must not put it on the ground before reaching Lanka. On the way, Narad meets Ravan. Ravan does not recognize Narad because he is disguised. Ravan gives him the shivling to hold till he (Ravan) answers nature's call. When Ravan goes from there, then Narad intentionally puts the shivling on ground. When Ravan comes back, then he tries all his might to lift the shivling but he is unsuccessful to do so.

Ravan and his uncles go to Alkapuri where Kuber was ruling. They defeat Kuber. Actually Kuber and his army accept defeat without even putting up a fight.
Ravan - Lokpal Kuber. He is not lokpal. He is gods' sychophant. If Ravan kills him at this moment, then even gods' blessings will not help him. It is surprising that the truth which even gods know is not known by my brother Kuber. He sends a message of knowledge to Ravan. He tries to guide him. He teaches the one who has the capacity to control the whole Earth. How dare you do this?
Ravan pushes Kuber from Kuber's throne.
Ravan - If king of Lanka Ravan wishes, then he can destroy Kuber together with the whole Alkapuri. But I spare my brother's life.
One uncle is shocked on hearing this.
Ravan - Sparing life means only sparing life. Ravan has the right over whole of Alkapuri's wealth.
Prahast laughs - And what will happen to his Pushpak?
Ravan - I will return to Lanka on Pushpak.
(Huh! If Ravan is taking the flying Pushpak chariot now, then what was the flying chariot that Ravan was using so far?😕)

Ravan and his uncles are happy over Kuber's defeat.
Narad (sage among gods) meets Ravan and his uncles. Ravan greets him.
Narad - I could not stop myself when I heard about your power and fame. I am happy to see you. Hail to you.
Ravan - Ravan has taken birth to conquer the whole world.
Prahast - And he has been successful so far. (What about defeats by Sahastrarjun and Vali? Forgot those incidents?😉)
Ravan - Just now I defeated Lokpal Kuber. My expedition does not stop here.
Narad - You are so strong than even gods cannot harm you. But I do not understand one thing. You are so strong. Still, you fight with weak kings? It does not suit you. It is against your self-respect. You have the capacity to conquer the whole universe. You can even defeat the god of death Yamraj.
Ravan - You spoke what was in my mind. My next expedition will be Yamlok. I will rule over even Pataal and Rasaatal (both are netherworlds). Uncles, we will go to Yamlok now.

Ravan and his uncles go to Yamlok. Yamraj and his men are laughing. Or, rather say roaring with laughter.
(I did not like this scene of showing them laughing without reason. It shows as if Yamraj is a comedian and not a god.)
Ravan - Now this Yamlok is mine.
Prahast - Today onwards, the king of Lanka will rule over the Yamlok. If anybody opposes it, then he will be killed.
By now Narad reaches there and watches what is going on.
Yamraj - You are forgetting about the truth of life. The biggest truth of life is death. And I am the god of death.
Ravan - Shut up. You are forgetting that Ravan can also become the god of death.
Yamraj and his men laugh.
(This time, there was a reason to laugh even though Yamraj and his men may be mistaken.)
Ravan - Arrest Yamraj.
Yamraj orders his men to attack. They fight. Ravan's uncles kill Yamraj's men.
(Why does Ravan take only his uncles in all wars? What about his army?😕)

Yamraj takes out his rod of death.
Yamraj - Ravan, you want death. Then I will give you the punishment of death.
Lord Brahma stops Yamraj.
Brahma - Wait Yamraj. Ravan cannot be killed. If you attack him with the rod of death, then my boon will prove to be a lie.
Yamraj - But you yourself gave me this rod of death, Lord Brahma.
Brahma - That is why neither of you can be killed. If Ravan is killed, then my boon to him will prove to be a lie. If he is not killed by your rod of death, then the rod of death that I gave to you is worthless. Either way, I will be proved a liar. That is why, calm down and control your anger.
Yamraj thinks - When this demon cannot be killed, then why fight?
He drops his rod of death and bows to Ravan. He leaves his throne and Ravan occupies it.
Ravan - Now I will conquer the abode of gods too.
Narad thinks - Is this the indication of some disaster? Yamraj, do you suspect me? Please forgive me. I did not know he was so powerful that he would challenge even you. I did not know that Ravan can defeat even death. Now his destruction is a must. Otherwise, he will not spare anybody.
Yamraj is going somewhere. Clouds are shown around him. Narad comes to him. Yamraj greets Narad.
Yamraj - I could not defeat Ravan. This is the first time that I have been so humiliated and insulted. Did you not know that he had a boon from Lord Brahma?
Narad - I knew. Why only me? Even you knew this. You are the god of death. I thought that somehow you could give him death and still keep Brahma's boon.
Yamraj - But when Brahma himself protects somebody, then who can kill him?
Narad - Do not worry. When he has taken birth, then he will die. He will be responsible for his own death. This is necessary not only for you and me but for the whole living world.

Narad meets Ravan.
Narad - Hail to Ravan. King of Lanka Ravan. Conquerer of world Ravan. Conquerer of cosmos Ravan. Do you really think that you have conqured the whole cosmos?
Ravan's uncles - What is left now? Ravan has defeated even Yamraj. The gods Marut and Varun have also accepted defeat. Ravan has defeated all the powerful ones.
Narad - Yamraj is the god of death. If you think that by defeating him, you have conquered the whole cosmos, then it is your illusion. Yamraj kills only human beings.(What about other living beings?😕) Only Shiv can destroy the whole cosmos. He is the most powerful. If you win over him, then only you can be called as the conquerer of the cosmos.
Ravan - I worship Shiv. Do you want that I should wage a war against him?
Narad - What are you saying? Whereever this sage goes, he spreads peace. I fear war.
Ravan - What do you want to say?
Narad - The title "conquerer of the cosmos" is proper if you win over Lord Shiv. And you can win over him even by pleasing him.
(This is the best way of winning over somebody.)
Ravan - Sage, I said that I worship Lord Shiv. He is always pleased with me.
Narad - I was coming to this point. What you are saying is not true. He is very displeased with you. I would even say that he is angry with you.
Ravan's uncles say that it is not possible.
Narad-If he is so pleased with you, then why don't you take him to Lanka with you? Either by fighting with him or by pleasing him. Now, let me go.

Ravan (to his uncles) - Shiv is my God. He is the ideal of demon-culture. I cannot even dream of combating with him. But I will win over him - not by war but by making him happy. Uncles, you go to Lanka. I will come there after a few days.

Ravan prays to Lord Shiv by singing Shiv Tandav Stotram. (It was shown in an earlier episode also.) When he finds that Shiv has still not come to him, then he decides to do severe penance. He chants "Om Namah Shivay" and cuts half his head. (Very good photography here.) Using his magical powers, he converts the cut part into a Veena. He plays the Veena and continues chanting "Om Namah Shivay".

Nandi comes running to Shiv.
Nandi - Mahadev, Ravan is immersed in severe penance. I am afraid that after pleasing you, he may ask for something,which will be disastrous for the universe.
Shiv - I am aware of it. You do not worry. Ravan's atrocities are increasing. His victories have made him arrogant. By pleasing me, he wants to control the whole universe because this time, he wants to attain me as a boon.
Parvati - I am afraid that his obstinacy and severe penance may fulfill his wish.
Shiv - Devi, you do not worry. I know what his wishes are and I know that he gets what he wants. But this time he will not be successful.
Nandi - Mahadev, he has made him penance stricter. He must be stopped.
Parvati - You are right because Mahadev gets pleased very fast.
Shiv - Do not worry. Nandi, for devi Parvati's happiness, go and tell Ravan that he should not do such severe penance unnecessarily. His penance will have no effect on me.

Nandi goes to Ravan.
Nandi - Be calm Dashanan, be calm.
Ravan - Nandi, it is not good to interrupt anyone's penance. Whatever you have to say, say it fast and clearly. My penance is moving to its second step. After that if anybody interrupts me, then it will be disastrous.
Nandi - You give up this stubbornness of pleasing Shiv. This time Shiv is not going to be pleased.
Ravan - May be Shiv does not know himself as well as I know him. To make him happy is the goal of my penance. I will go to any extent to please him even if I have to behead myself and accept death.
Nandi - I have done my duty as a servant of Mahadev. If you want to accept death, then even Mahadev cannot stop you.
Ravan - Nandi, I will do more severe and stricter penance. I have cut half of my head. If Mahadev is not pleased with this, then I will cut whole of my head and offer it at his feet. Tell Mahadev that the entire universe will tremble on hearing the sound of my Veena. Even Mahadev will be shaken. He has to be pleased. Go. King of Lanka is unshakable in his decision.
Ravan continues to chant "Om Namah Shivay".

Nandi comes to shiv and Parvati. He is looking sad.😕
Parvati - Nandi, what happened? Why are you quiet?
Nandi - Mother, he has become even more strict in his penance. He has cut half his head and made a Veena of it.
Parvati - But, what does he wish?
Nandi - As of now, he only wants to please Mahadev. God only knows what he will ask for after pleasing Mahadev. Now, I am really scared.
Parvati - Nandi, your Lord is easily pleased. He is simple. He is Bholenath. If Ravan has made a Veena out of his head and is doing such strict penance, then he will not stop till he pleases Mahadev.

Shiv hears Ravan's prayers - Mahadev, be pleased. Be pleased. Grant me a boon.
Shiv opens his eyes and says to Parvati - Devi, now I have to go because nobody in the universe does such severe penance. If he continues like this, then it will be difficult to stop him and will be a must to grant him whatever boon he asks for. He is doing his duty. I also must do my duty.
Parvati - But remember that Ravan is stubborn and egoistic. It should not happen that after pleasing you, he creates some problem for the entire universe.
Shiv - Do not worry. Sometimes excessive ambition leads to disaster. This is what is going to happen with Ravan.

Shiv and Parvati go to Ravan. Ravan does not see them because his eyes are closed and he is chanting "Om Namah Shivay".
Shiv and Parvati make his head complete. Ravan opens his eyes. Ravan is thrilled to see them.
Ravan - Accept my regards.
Shiv - Why are you so stubborn, Ravan? What do you want to prove by such severe penance? What wish do you want to fulfill?
Ravan - You are becoming stubborn. Just to see you, I had to cut my head. Is this the fruit of my devotion? Why do you want to be away from your devotee? Why do you want to humiliate Ravan's feelings?
Shiv - I respect your penance. That is why I came here. Otherwise, there was no need for me to come here. There was no need to come here considering your ruthlessness.
Ravan - What ruthlessness are you talking about, Mahadev? With your blessings, I defeated gods and wages a war against their evil ways. Even then you got angry? If you are really displeaded with me, then I have no right to live. I will lay down my life on your feet.
Ravan picks up his weapon to behead himself.
Parvati - Stop Ravan, stop. (To Shiv)My Lord, stop him. Otherwise, some disaster may happen.
Shiv - Stop.
Ravan - No Mahadev, if you are angry with me, then my life is worthless.
Shiv - What do you want?
Ravan - What every devotee wants. Your blessings and your protection.
Shiv - My blessings are always with you. I promise you. Keep the weapon aside.
Ravan - God, I cannot see you angry. If you are really happy with me, then come to Lanka with me and reside there.
Shiv - How is this possible? I have the responsibility of protecting all the worlds. For that, there is no better place than Kailash. But I will not disappoint you. I am giving my shivling as a memento to you. You will find me in this.
Shiv gives a shivling to Ravan.
Shiv - But remember. Do not separate it from you. And before reaching Lanka, do not put it on the ground. Otherwise, it will get established there.
Ravan - I will adhere to your instructions.
Shiv and Parvati give him blessings and disappear.
Ravan is very happy to get the shivling.

Parvati - Lord, it is your nature that you become angry easily and become happy easily. Why did you give your symbol to him? How did you believe that he will use it in the right way?
Shiv - I did not grant his wish by believing this. I know that he will not follow the right path because arrogance has become his biggest obstacle.
Parvati - You know everything. Still, you make some mistake. Whether you accept it or not, you have made a mistake. By giving your symbol, you have made Ravan uncontrollable. Now, he will destroy the gods completely. And you will be held responsible.
Shiv - Whatever I did was after careful consideration. Perhaps, you did not pay attention to what I said. Now, I just want to say that do not doubt my decision. See what happens further.

Ravan is walking and chanting Shiv's names. He is thrilled.
Narad thinks - You are great, Mahadev. You did your work and left the rest on me. Now bless me that I be successful.
Narad changes his appearance and goes to Ravan.
Narad - Hail to king Lankesh.
Ravan - Sage, who are you?
Narad - I am Vaidyanath, your admirer. I live nearby.
Ravan - Where are you going?
Narad - I was wandering around. I do not have any fixed destination. By the way, if there is any work for me, then let me know. I will be very happy.
Ravan - There is no such work. (After some thought) But can you do one work for me? This is Shiv's symbol. Keep this with you. I will go and answer nature's call.
Narad - I will be blessed by serving Mahadev.
Ravan - But remember, do not keep it on the ground. Otherwise, you will have to face my and Shiv's anger.
Narad - Do not worry. Go without tension.
When Ravan goes, then Narad cleans a part of the ground and puts Shivling there.
Narad - Now, you will know what you lost and what you gained by being stubborn with Mahadev. Hail to Mahadev.
Narad secretly leaves that place.
Ravan comes back. He calls the sage (Narad) many times. Narad is hiding behind bushes and does not answer. Then Ravan notices the Shivling on the ground. He applies all his might to lift the shivling but is unsuccessful. Narad is amused.(Perfect game by Lord Shiv.)
Ravan - I have been cheated, Mahadev. Do not do this injustice to me. Cruel sage. Fraud sage. I will not let you be alive. Mahadev, there has been injustice done to me. A great power has been challenged. Lankesh Ravan challenges you that you will have to come to Lanka.

Episode ends with the chanting of "Om Namah Shivay".

I liked the acting of Naren Jha (who does the role of Ravan) and also the acting of the person doing the role of Lord Shiv(do not know his name).
I liked the photography of Ravan with half of his head.

One thing I really disliked is that not much attention was given on the wars. In such serials, it is important to focus on wars. But the serial is just glancing over wars.
