'What the hell are you planning on doing...'' But Ishita just smiled naughtily

'Ishuuu...'' Said Mihika shocked at how she was acting

'You worry too much, I am not going to do anything stupid...'' Said Ishita chuckling

'Please... Do not...'' Said Mihika and Ishita laughed

'You were here for something? What was it? I believe I never asked you...'' Said Ishita changing topics

'Yeah a lot happened I didn't even get time... It is not important, we will talk about it later...You need to stay away from Mr. RKB...'' Said Mihika but Ishita just changed topics

'Why... I have time now... We can talk about why you are here...'' Said Ishita

'Thank God... I was beginning to worry that I had to begin getting used to a new nanny... That would have sucked...'' Said Aditya

'Please... ' Said Aditya scoffing but Ishita just laughed pulling him in as she said

'I would have missed you too grumpy...'' She said

'Let go... Crazy person ...'' Said Aditya getting away from her hold

'Why... I am allowed to hug you because whether or not you agree, we are friends...'' Said Ishita pulling him in again causing Ruhi to giggle and Mihika to smile

'Okay fine... Just this once ...'' Said Aditya as he put his arms around her

'On a serious not though... Thank you for standing up for me ...'' Said Ishita

'There is nothing to be thanking me for. I just did the right thing, you are always telling us to do that...'' Said Aditya

'No... I just did it because I didn't want you to go...'' Said Ruhi innocently

'Adi... Ruhi... Your father is calling you both up stairs...'' Said Neelu who had come to pick them

'Okay... Bye Mihika'' Said Ruhi

'Dad and I are going to watch cricket... He is unusually excited about it...'' Said Aditya as he got up

'I will...'' Said Aditya as he walked out following Ruhi

'Temp work... She is going to work as an assistant to some lawyer person...'' Said Mihika

'Fair enough... At least tell her to be careful... And tell her I am proud of her...'' Said Ishita

'I will... Take care, and clean your room... It looks like a market place... And don't do anything stupid'' Said Mihika throwing a t-shirt at Ishita before she walked out

Ishita came down from her room like she always did every morning and she was supposed to go prepare breakfast for Aditya and Ruhi before waking them up. And like most weekends, they would map out what the plan of the day was. There were always rehearsals or they had guests over or they would spend most of their day playing video games. She usually left for her day off right after she gave Neelu the plans for the day but it was a bit different this time.

The kids were all seated on the dining table already having breakfast and Simmi had already arrived. Ever since Ishita began working there Simmi didn't come around too often because she knew the kids were taken care of. Ishita walked in and she could see Raman was also seated as usual with a newspaper in his hand having his morning coffee. She looked up at the wall clock to make sure that she actually didn't over sleep and the truth was she didn't. So she knew something was off

'Good Morning Nanny...'' Said Aditya

'Morning...'' Said Ishita

'Morning Ishita...'' Said Ruhi

'Morning Hon...'' Said Ishita turning to Simmi as she said

'Morning Madam...'' But Simmi just looked up at her

'Morning boss...'' Ishita ignoring her greeted Raman

'Morning...'' Said Raman his eyes still in his newspaper

'Simmi... My name is Simmi and good morning...'' Simmi finally said but Ishita just smirked

'Hey about yesterday... I would like to...'' Simmi began

'Oh water under the bridge... Sorry it just escalated that far...'' Said Ishita

'Right... I was going to say, in case you ever have a problem with my sister you talk to me or Raman. You do not go around chasing her with a bat or her friends... 'Said Simmi

'Oh... Yes Madam...'' Said Ishita

'Call me Simmi...'' Said Simmi

'Am sorry Madam but being formal with you isn't a good idea...'' Said Ishita muffing her words under her breath

'What...'' Said Simmi who was not understanding

'Nothing... ' Said Ishita

'As I was saying...'' Said Simmi and Ishita interrupted

'Next time she comes here in the middle of the night drunk with strangers whose names she doesn't remember, which strangers may or may not be drug dealers, I should leave her alone and call you... Got it...'' Said Ishita

'Drug what...'' Said Simmi

'Yeah I wanna know that as well...'' Said Raman sitting up

'Madam, Boss... Experience has taught me something considered more worthless than bottom shoe gum; its opinion is never relevant... So ... That question is for your sweet little innocent sister...'' Said Ishita

'Hold on are you being sarcastic with me'' Said Simmi

'What... Of course not... You're the boss...'' Said Ishita humbly causing Neelu to shake her head grumbling

'Oh ho Ishu...'' She said

'Listen I was not telling you not to do anything, all I am saying is to avoid these issues you should...'' Simmi said

'Mind my business and do my work... I know... Neelu is always telling me but am not very good at listening sometimes. I am working on it. My job description is clear, Aditya and Ruhi Kumar Bhalla are why am here... I know... And that incident won't happen again...'' Said Ishita as she walked into the kitchen leaving a dumb founded Simmi behind

'What is with her, is she always like this...'' Said Simmi

'You will get used to it...'' Said Raman less concerned

'She only hears what she wants... ' Said Simmi

'She heard you plenty, she is just still angry and you can't blame her...'' Said Raman causing Simmi to just shake her head

'Ishita...'' Simmi called her again

'Yes Madam...'' Said Ishita walking back inside

'Get their bags ready, we leave in 10 minutes...'' Said Simmi

'Where are they going...'' Said Ishita confused

'Mumbai... Is that a problem?'' Said Simmi

'No... I just wanted to know what to pack exactly...'' Said Ishita and she walked away

'Simmi... Come on...'' Said Raman

'What...'' Said Simmi

'Just back off a little and cut her some slack... It could have been worse...Plus we need her not just for this nanny business but also'' Said Raman

'I know... I know...'' Said Simmi

'Dad for how long shall we be gone...'' Said Ruhi

'Just the weekend ...'' Said Raman

'Hold on... I thought we were going for just a day and we will be back by tomorrow...'' Said Aditya

'No...We are coming back Monday afternoon...'' Said Simmi

'What... No... I ... No ...'' Said Aditya refusing

'Adi... What is it'' Said Simmi

'I am not going away for the whole weekend... No... How about we go next weekend... Am sure they won't mind...'' Said Aditya

'This is the only time I have to do this. Adi... What is the problem...'' Said Simmi who could see he was beginning to get agitated

'Adi... Hold on...'' Said Raman but his son wasn't barging

'No... I am not going...'' He said banging the table before he stood up and walked out

'Ruhi, I put Mr. teddy bear on the side in your bag... Here you go...''Said Ishita who had just walked back in

'Where is Adi...'' She added

'He doesn't want to come with us to Mumbai...'' Said Ruhi sadly

'Why... What happened...'' Said Ishita

'I don't know... That is what I want to find out...'' Said Raman as he stood up and followed his son

'What exactly did he say...'' Said Ishita

'He doesn't want to go to Mumbai...'' Said Simmi

'Why would he change his mind just like that... Something changed'' Said Ishita

'Nothing... I told him we will be spending the entire weekend and he flipped out...'' Said Simmi as she stood up and walked out to where Raman and Aditya were and Ishita followed suit with Ruhi not so far behind

'Adi... Talk to me what is it?'' Raman said

'I am not going to Mumbai... Tell grandma we shall go their next time...'' Said Aditya

'Why... Why not this one...'' Said Raman

'Because...'' He said looking at his father his voice breaking

'I do not want to go this weekend...'' He added tears filling his eyes

'Grumpy...'' Ishita called him and he turned to look at her

'What is wrong...'' Ishita added

'I do not want to go... You tell dad he won't listen...'' Said Aditya wiping the streaming tears with the back of his hand

'Okay... Come on...'' Said Ishita walking passed Raman as she took his hand and they walked back up stairs

'Where... Where are you going'' Asked Simmi

'Give me five minutes; I will sort this out... It is my job to deal with the tantrums...'' Said Ishita as she continued with a crying Aditya up stairs to his room leaving a slightly worried Raman behind

'Ru... Do you know what this is all about'' He asked

'No...'' Ruhi lied

Once Ishita and Aditya got to his room, he walked sitting on his bed as Ishita locked the door. She walked to one of his drawer removing a handkerchief that she gave to him as she sat next to him

'Am not going...'' He insisted as he took the handkerchief she was handing him

'Why not...'' Said Ishita

'Because... I just can't...'' Said Aditya

'Come on grumpy, you need to give me something to convince your auntie and father to allow you stay here. You were excited about seeing grandpa... Don't you want to do that anymore...'' Said Ishita

'No I do...'' Said Aditya

'Then... What is it...'' Said Ishita and he just turned looking at her before he broke down and began crying

'Adi... My God what is it'' Said Ishita as she pulled him in hugging him

'Come on talk to me...'' She added but he just continued

'You know they call me super nanny; no problem is too big for me. I can solve it just like that...'' Said Ishita snapping her fingers as she pulled out

'So tell me and let me solve it...'' she added

'Nanny... No one calls you that...'' He said sniffing

'Well they should... Because I am the best at what I do ...'' Said Ishita rolling her head and he chuckled

'I swear sometimes you act like you're my age...'' Said Aditya wiping his tears away

'So... Talk to me... One non-friend to another ...'' Said Ishita

'It is...Dad... I mean...'' He said and began tearing up again

'Take your time...'' Said Ishita

'My mom... It is... Tomorrow ... ' He said taking a deep breath as he added

'Tomorrow makes it 6 years since she passed...'' His voice breaking again

'Oh Adi...'' Said Ishita feeling bad for the kid

'Papa never deals well with that date and I know right now he can't remember but tomorrow it will be different.'' Said Aditya

'How do you mean'' Said Ishita

'Every year on this day, he is not okay and so I have to be the man and make sure that he is okay...If am not here who will take care of him...'' Said Aditya

'I still don't... Why do you think your father needs you to take care of him...'' Said Ishita

'He gets very sad and he drinks a lot and ... He locks himself in the study and he just talks to himself and cries a lot. It started when grandma came here after the first year she had passed. She wanted us to hold some kind of prayer for mom but dad... He was so broken and ...'' Said Aditya crying

'We held the vigil for her but dad didn't show... I was annoyed because I thought he didn't care but when we came back from the temple, he was in the study drinking and crying while he spoke to himself... ' He added

'Aditya this is...'' Said Ishita but he interrupted

'So I am the one who picks up the pieces when morning comes, I have been doing it since I was 5 years old and it is only I who knows what to do... So I can't just leave you understand...'' Said Aditya

'Adi... It is not your job to take care of your father. He is more than capable of doing that himself...'' Said Ishita

'I know that but I also know one day out of the year, he can't...I try not to but I can't just let him be. I tried everything, I even prayed everyday that God give him some piece on this day but'' Said Aditya and Ishita just sat back sighing feeling bad for how this whole thing was

'I know... I know it sound ridiculous but I always prayed that God just grant him 5 minutes with her to just say goodbye, and then maybe he wouldn't be so sad and miserable you know... ' He added his voice breaking and Ishita knew he just needed an outlet that she would gladly give him.

So she sat back and did the only thing she knew, she listened. They never really talked about her, so if he was here sharing, this meant a lot to him and he was in need of an out

'When Mom died he could sometimes come back late at night, when he did most of the time he was drunk. I could go to his door just to check if he was alright and I could hear him crying for her and yet there was nothing I could do to help or make him feel less pain. So I did whatever I could and helped take care of Ruhi. After a while he stopped drinking and he was the father we knew. Ruhi was so young that it didn't really affect her like it did me so I wanted to make sure that it didn't... She had to at least be the happy one in this house... Dad worked a lot but it helped keep his mind off of her. I missed him but I understood and things were good except on this date... You understand I need to keep him happy, make sure he is okay...''said Aditya with tears in his eyes

'Aditya it is not your job to keep your father happy...'' Said Ishita

'You didn't see him...'' he cried

'You didn't see him, so you don't understand. If you did, then you will know why I can't just be sad and moan mom... I need to be strong for Ruhi. Someone has to be and dad being in that state doesn't help...'' He added his voice breaking

'Why not just talk to your father?'' Said Ishita

'We do not talk about mom in this house...'' Said Aditya wiping his tears

'Why not...'' Said Ishita

'I do not know, we just don't...'' Said Aditya

'So... What now... Because you are going to have to explain to him why you don't want to go otherwise he will force you to go...'' Said Ishita

'I can't...I won't go'' Said Aditya

'Okay how about we compromise...'' Said Ishita

'How...'' Said Aditya looking at her

'Today is my day off and given you were away this weekend, I was going to get the weekend off, so how about, I stay ... I will be at his beck and call 24/7 and I am going to ensure that he is alright...'' Said Ishita

'Really... You can do that...''He said

'Of course... This will be me saying thank you for yesterday. It is the least I can do...'' Said Ishita

'You have to make sure that he...'' Aditya began

'Boss... I swear on Ben 10, I am going to stick on him like glue...'' Said Ishita looking at him but he was still hesitant

'Come on Grumpy... Don't you trust me...'' Said Ishita

'I do...'' He said

'Then trust me when I tell you, I will take care of him. He will be my priority the entire weekend. I will even eat his broccoli if he wants me to...'' Said Ishita

'Eeewww... Okay... Even I can't do that...'' Said Aditya

'So do I have the job...'' Said Ishita

'Okay, shake on it...'' Said Aditya extending his hand and Ishita took it

'Say...What do you, always do on that day...'' She asked

'Ruhi and I wait up at night for the star; the brightest one is her... We tell her everything that happened in the year...'' Said Aditya

'Hmmm... Good to know...'' Said Ishita

'You have to promise me...'' Said a worried Aditya

'I promise...'' Said Ishita and he finally calmed down

'Okay and we now go... Your father is going to start freaking out'' Said Ishita and Aditya accepted

She walked to the door opening it and Raman, Simmi and Ruhi where standing by the door waiting for them to come out

'Adi...'' Raman called him but Aditya interrupted

'It is okay... I am sorry for all that... ' He said

'So everything is fine now...'' Said Raman looking at Ishita

'Yeah... Simmi Auntie let us go, we are getting late...'' Said Aditya as he walked passed them going back down stairs

'What the hell did you say to him'' Asked Simmi

'Nanny Code...'' Said Ishita putting her finger on her lips

'Why was he refusing...'' Asked Raman

'Boss... Trust that you hired someone who is an expert at tantrum throwing... It is no biggie...'' Said Ishita looking at him then at Ruhi and smiling

'Okay... If he is fine now, then I guess we shall be on our way'' Said Simmi and she took Ruhi's hand walking back. Raman still a bit confused turned to follow them only for Ishita to take his hand in hers and pull him back.

She felt her heart sink to her feet when she felt how soft his hands were that she found herself looking down at his hand instead of talking

'Ishita... What...'' He said bringing her back from her stance

'Wow your hands are really soft...'' She said

'What...'' He said

'Nothing... ' She said realizing she had said it out loud

'Right... Uhhh I was going to tell you that once he leaves I will tell you all about it but only after tomorrow...'' She added

'Why after tomorrow...'' Said Raman

'Because then it means I would have kept my word to him and also done my job towards you... I mean you hired me to look after them, so in case of anything, I tell you...Right...'' She said

'Yeah...'' He said

'Then I will tell you only, after tomorrow...'' She said and he looked at her frowning

'What is so big about tomorrow anyway'' He said but Ishita just kept quiet still standing in the door way of Aditya's room

Raman looked at Ishita shaking his head because he knew she wasn't going to barge at what she was doing. He looked at her turned to leave and in the corner of his eye he saw Shagun's portrait that rested above Aditya's bed and a light bulb went out in his head

'Hold on what is the date tomorrow...'' He said and Ishita in a soft voice said

'12^th March...'' And just like that, his demeanor changed completely

It wasn't like he was angry or worried or distraught. He just had this look of emptiness in his eyes and for the first time Ishita could understand what Aditya could have been talking about. Raman put on a brave face as he walked back down stairs and said his goodbyes to his children. He hugged them both kissing their cheeks as he asked them to have fun and Simmi left.

'I know this is supposed to be your weekend off but Romi and I have some work for you so you can't leave...'' Said Raman

'Well I ...'' Ishita began but Raman interrupted

'It is not a debate... Go back inside and wait for Romi to come... Until then, I will be in my study and I do not want anyone to disturb me...'' He said coldly before he walked out going upstairs

'And the Bhalla room temperature goes to extremely cold... ' Said Ishita mumbling as she walked to the kitchen where Neelu was
