CHAPTER TWENTY

The kids were up and Ishita had already given them breakfast and was hoping and praying that Neelu showed up soon because she was going to be doomed. She wasn't a very good cook and Neelu was an intricate part in hiding that. Neelu was supposed to come back that morning and Ishita was banking on her to prepare the Day's meals but she was taking longer than expected to show up and Ishita needed reinforcements

As she began pacing, up and down wondering whether she should call Priya for help, someone rang the door bell.

'My God who could that be...'' Said Ishita panicking

When she walked to the door, it went open and in walked Neelu with a bag and Mihika just behind her

'Ishita, someone is here to see you...'' Said Neelu

'Neelu... Yes...'' Said Ishita as she walked over to where Neelu was hugging her

'Oh... Happy to see you too ...'' Said Neelu was she hugged her back

'Mimi... Ohh... My birthday gift came early... You are helping as well... Here...'' Said Ishita taking her apron off and handing it to Mihika

'Oh hello to you too...'' Said Mihika shaking her head

'I have always told you...'' Mihika added

'Learn how to prepare some meals, I know... I am working on it...'' Said Ishita who seriously looked nervous

'Hello, Am Mihika...'' She said

'Neelu... Nice to meet you...'' Said Neelu chuckling

'Where do I start...'' Said Mihika

'There are some vegetables in the fridge... Just ...'' Neelu said

'I got it...'' Said Mihika

'I can do that...'' Said Ishita

'NO...'' Said Neelu and Mihika at the same time as Neelu put down her bag

'Okay fine, here I will take your bags to your room. You need to start cooking, like now...'' Said Ishita as she took Neelu's bag

'And here I was thinking you were just happy to see me because you missed me...'' Said Neelu as she went to the kitchen

'I did miss you... But ... You know... I can't...'' Said Ishita

'You can't cook, I know... I should have been here earlier, now both of us might get fired...'' Said Neelu

'Why... What did you hear...'' Said Ishita

'Nothing, I didn't hear a thing. I just said that because Mrs. Bhalla, Raman's mother is coming here today...She is very...'' Said Neelu putting on the apron as she looked at Ishita

'Oh God what did you do...'' She added

'Nothing...'' Said Ishita innocently and Aditya came into the kitchen saying

'She beat Rinky Didi's guests with a bat last night...'' As he sat down at the counter with Ruhi not so far behind

'Good morning Neelu...'' Said Ruhi

'Morning hon...'' Said Neelu

'Good Morning Madam...'' They found themselves talking at the same time

'Please call me Mimi and Good Morning to you too...'' Said Mihika

'Ohh your Mimi, Ishita talks about you a lot...'' Said Ruhi

'Does she...'' Said Mihika looking at Ishita

'Hold on a minute, she did what...'' Said Neelu

'Oh she chased them around the pool before she came back to the living room still screaming with a bat. She looked scary and funny at the same time...'' Said Ruhi with a weird expression that Mihika found herself smiling

'Then she ordered her to take a shower and Rinky went to her room crying...'' Said Aditya

'Oh My God you did what...'' Said Neelu

'Ishu...'' Said a shocked Mihika

'What... I politely asked them to leave and they refused... It really is not my fault...'' Said Ishita innocently

'Oh God Ishu... You are screwed, actually makes sense why her mother is coming here...'' Said Neelu

'Is this because your birthday is coming up that is why you're doing this...'' Said Mihika

'No... Of course not... Seriously, she came back here drunk out of her mind with...'' Said Ishita

'Yeah, she does that every time her brother is out... It is none of our business so we don't mind it'' Said Neelu

'Well am sorry but those kids needed to rest she was disrupting that. It was in the middle of the night... ' Said Ishita

'When is your birthday Ishita...'' Said Ruhi looking at her

'Three weeks from now... Why...'' Said Ishita

'Nothing, just curious...'' Said Ruhi

''What do you normally do to celebrate...'' Said Aditya

'Oh I don't celebrate my birthday...'' Said Ishita trying everything to drop that topic and Mihika could see it

'Why not...'' Asked Ruhi

'I just don't and you ask a lot of questions...'' Said Ishita

'I too want to know why not...'' Said Aditya who wouldn't drop it

'Adi... ' Said Neelu who could see she was uncomfortable

'It is fine...'' Said Ishita taking a deep breath as she said

'My mother died on that day... So I just don't celebrate that...'' but before she could say anything, Aditya got off his seat and walked to where she was putting his tiny arms around her

Ishita a bit taken back looked down to see what the matter was but he just kept on holding on tight that she did not know what to do except reciprocate. She knelt down causing Aditya to rest his head in her shoulder and she too put her arms around her.

Ruhi got down from her seat and did the same and they stayed there for a couple of seconds before Aditya let go and went back taking his seat. Ruhi looked at Ishita and touched her cheek before she placed a soft comforting kiss on her cheek and she too went ad sat back down. Neelu looked at them and began to tear up. No one said anything but that was something so powerful and yet so simple, something that all of them needed.

'Hey Nanny...'' Said Aditya

'Uhh Yeah...'' Said Ishita clearing her throat

'Tell anyone I did that, I will deny it...'' Said Aditya and Ishita smiled

'Wait, you still call her nanny...'' Said Mihika changing topics

'Yeah...'' Said Aditya

'Why...'' Said Mihika

'Apparently he doesn't like me and therefore refuses to call me by my name...'' Said Ishita

'She is not my friend...'' Said Aditya and Ruhi giggled

'You're a terrible liar...'' She said

'Plus he ain't my friend as well, Grumpy...'' Said Ishita smiling and Aditya just smiled back

'What are you cooking today...'' Said Ruhi but before Neelu could say anything, the door went open and they could heart heir father calling

'Ru... Adi ...'' He said and they jumped of their seats and ran to the living room

Ishita for whatever reason felt her heart sink to her chest and for the first time she was genuinely worried about what had happened the night before.

'Crap...''She said holding her chest

'What...'' Said Neelu

'She is beginning to freak out...'' Said Mihika

'Good... You should be...'' Said Neelu

'Papa... Welcome back... Oh God I missed you so much...'' Said Ruhi

'I missed you too love...'' Said Raman as he held his daughter

'Welcome back dad...'' Said Aditya hugging him as well

'Thank you... I missed you...'' Said Raman

'I missed you too... I thought you might not make it back in time...'' Said Aditya

'Are you kidding me, and miss Mr. Sachin's greatness...'' Said Raman and Aditya threw his hand on his head

'Sachin retired dad... ' He said

'So he doesn't play anymore...'' Said Raman

'No... ' Said Aditya tapping his father's hand as he added

'Baby steps, you will get their...'' And Romi chuckled

'Hey rock star...'' Romi said

'Hey ... Did you get it...'' Said Aditya

'No... ' Said Romi

'Oh come on...'' Said Aditya

'But your dad is having it delivered here first thing tomorrow...'' Said Romi and Aditya turned to Raman saying

'Did I say I love you dad... You know I do right...''

'Yeah right...'' Said Raman chuckling

'Flattery will get you places...'' Said Romi

'Ishita says that a lot...'' Said Ruhi

'Smart woman...''Said Romi as he lifted Ruhi

'Where is Simmi Auntie...'' Said Ruhi

'Am right here... Your grandmother just won't shut it... I had to run away from her...'' Said Simmi

'Well... Talking about your marriage isn't me smothering, it is me being a caring mother...'' Said Santosh who was just behind Simmi

'Grand ma...'' Said the kids as they ran to her

'Hey my grandbabies, oh God how I miss you...'' Said Santosh as she hugged them

'We miss you too... Papa is always promising to bring us but he never gets the time...'' Said Aditya

'Is that so...'' Said Raman who knew they were lying because they never really liked it there

'Yeah... Of course ...'' Said Aditya looking at his father as he winked and was failing miserably that Raman and Romi began laughing

'Where is Rinky? I heard she wasn't doing well is she alright'' Asked Santosh and Ruhi and Aditya looked at each other

'Hey mom...'' She said as she joined them in the living room

'Oh God what the hell happened to you...'' Shouted Santosh

'Raman's nanny... She beat me and my friends last night... I had just come to study but she went all crazy and began chasing us around with a bat and began hitting us...'' Said Rinky

'Wait, what...'' Said Raman because it sounded a bit bizarre even for Rinky

'She did this to your face...'' Said Santosh as she touched her daughter's face but Rinky just winced and walked away

'Don't it hurts...'' Said Rinky

'Hold on... Ishita... Sweet childish Ishita did this...'' Said Simmi

'Why would she lie, can't you see her face...'' Said Santosh agitated

'What did you do?'' Said Raman

'Doesn't matter what she did? Look at your sister...'' Yelled Santosh

'Why would she beat you up like that...? Is she crazy? This isn't funny anymore...'' Said Romi looking at Rinky who was now in tears

'Where are they?'' Said Santosh as she sat up telling Mihir

'Go tell all of them to come here...'' And Mihir who had just walked in with her bags followed suit

He got to the kitchen where Ishita was laughing about something with Neelu and Mihika and he nervously said

'Did you come up with a defense...''

'What...'' Said Ishita looking at him

'Mihir...'' Shouted Romi and Mihir told them

'You all are needed in the living room...'' Before he turned and walked out

Neelu turned off the gas and walked to the living room behind and Ishita and Mihika as they all walked into the living room

'So... Which of you two is the nanny...'' Santosh said

Mihika looked at her and didn't say a word and so did Ishita who wanted to assess the situation before she said anything. She looked at Rinky who had a rather bruised face much to her surprise as to how that happened.
