Chapter 13:

Darkness is being overcome by bonfire light.

Silence is broken by dulcet voice.

Nandini : So, Mr.Malhotra lost his memory. That is what you say .

Manik : who is Malhotra now ? It's me only ?

Nandini : (with smirk ) Yeah ! You are Manik Malhotra, the rich kid and most handsome guy in school and college.

Manik : (with a chuckle) Yeah ! then it could be me .

Nandu : With sudden hush, Wish things went same and all are together like that.

She reminiscences of wartime night.

( That is the last day of their college time. They are being graduated)

Gang of friends :

cabir : hey guys ! what will we do tonight ?

mukti : I'm on a date. I'm may not join you guys .

aliya: hm,, ooo aryaman haaa... (she sneers )

Nandini : (who joins hurriedly ) : what are you all speaking about? That too without me ?

dhruv : ( sulkily ) I joined new coaching classes, I can't attend.

Manik : ( who enters trudgly ) what is going on here, kisiko classes attend nai karni hai kya ? only last do teen din bache hai.

cabir: dekho sab bahut busy hai aaj. tumhe yaad hai aaj kya hai ?

Manik : ( with tentative look ) yaa, wooo, haaa... yaad agaya .

cabir : fir dekho yeha kisiko yaad bhi nai hai. chalo class attend

karenge. Will decide later then.

nandini : mujhe bhi yaad hai and im not going to miss.

mukti : Actually I also wana join you all,. I will fast up my meeting.

Aryaman ko milna hai , something important he said. And ha, i didnt

forget too.

manik :Okay done , lets all meet in cabir's home tonight.

dhruv : I will skip class today and (winks to cabir) not important than

all of "US".

Navya: (joining the conversation) so,Tonight set all PARTY plan. I will meet you there.

All will finish their day duties and get themselves involved in exotic attires.

It is MAY 17^th , 2012

All enjoying the party.

Missing few companions, yet all involved in some gossip, future

plans and promises to stay together forever.

Clatter everywhere and a sudden whoosh.

Mukti : manic, tune kyu kiya aisa ? (with an irk )

Manik: (with a blow on face) what are you speaking about ?

Mukti : tujhe nai pata ?

Manik : ( bewildered) pata hota tho , why will I ask you ?

Mukti : I don't wana drag. Aryaman ke baremey ?

Rest all totally demented about the situation.

Cabir: Did you involve manik ? I said you not to do that .

Tring tring tring... A phone keeps ringing in between.

Manik : yaar, tumhe pata hai ki I cant stay out of this. I don't care

what he thinks , I care only for mukti.

Again tring tring...

Mukti : ( annoyed and irritated) I said you stay out of this

manic. I know you are concerned for me but doesn't mean you

get too involved.

Cabir: you should have given some space to them. Let them

sort out.

Manik: You mean I did wrong. Galti meri hai. Theek hai.

Tring tring...

then finally nandini receives the call realizing it to be her phone.

She gets aside and speaks on phone.

Dhruv : Leave it all guys, hum enjoy karenge. You all know what is today ?

Navya : jo bhi baat hai, aaram se sort out karenge na.

Don't spoil the evening.

Cabir : yeah ! you are right.. Manik leave the topic. Ab job hi

mukti ko handle karne do theek hai.

Manic : sorry yaar, I cant.

Mukit in silence and holding her emotions.

Cabir : tu pagal tho nai hogaya, uss din bhi aise kiya tune. You

scared dhruv that night.

Dhruv : jo huwa so huwa, chod do purane baate.

Navya: he was not intentional. I do agree it was a risky plan

but still.

Cabir : ye kuch baate kabhi nai samjta hai. Isko koi samjhao.

( with a nark)

Navya : nandini kaha chali gayi hai ?

All suddenly starts looking for her.

Nandu,... Nandini... nandini...

...

..

.

Finally they can see her in kitchen lying down.

Manik rushes to her.

Manik : kya hogaya ? tum roo kyu rahi hai ?

Nandini sniffling, trying to explain, wo... wo... ummm...

Aaliya : (embracing her sideways) pani lo, ye lo.

Taking her on to the couch in hall, manik kneeling down, holding

her face.

Manik: shhh..., shhh... dekho is taraf dekho, shh. Chup hojao. Sunn mere baat suno, shaant hojao.

Nandini sniffling weeping and trying to control her tears.

Nandini : wo, papa, papa... (and wails) embracing him.

Manik : papa ko kya huwa ? haa, batao.. patting her gently.

Nandini : unki accident huyi hai.

Everyone shocked listening to it.

Dhruv : uncle , kaha pe hai ? ro maat, kuch nai hoga uncle ko.

Meanwhile, Cabir contacts neighbours and get to know the details.

They start for hospital and get to know its critical situation.

Time passes in trouble is the hardest one to LIVE with.

Eventually, the doctor comes out with a low face.

Doctor : I'm sorry.He is no more.

PRESENT:

Nandini : oh! No... ( she shrieks gaining her consciousness)

Manik : kya huwa ? kyu chilayi ? sab theek tho hai ?

Nandini : Tumhe kuch yaad nai hai , chalo ye bhi acha hai.

Manik : aisa kyu bol rahi hai tu ?

Nandini : sare gum bula sakte ho, firse khul ke hasne ki ek wajha bhi mil jati hai na.

Manik : mai tho abhi kush hu, babydoll ! Tujhe aise kyu laga ?

Nandini : acha huwa, memory loos bhi ek gift ( she silently smiles )

Manik : huwa kya batao.

Nandini : (lost in thoughts ) That night what all happened should not have happened. Though they happened you should not have taken such decision.

Manik : tumhe sach mey aisa lagta hai ? ( he turns little serious)

Nandini : kuch nai , Sab theek hai abhi bhi. ( she gives a plain look and pacifies him ).
