"How could I say No Manik" Nandini murmured to herself " you made me fall for you completely in a matter of a few days.Aur fir...fir tum mujhe chhod kar kyu chale gaye...kyu Manik?"She starting sobbing again.
"Main yahin hoon Nandini,tumhare paas ..tumhare saath" Nandini heard his voice and turned around to see Manik standing behind her.
"Aa gye tum" she stepped towards him and clinged to his chest " Mujhe laga tum nahi aaoge"
"Aata kaise nahin..." manik rubbed her back while speaking " tumse promise jo kiya tha...Achha come with me , I have to show you something.
"What?" nandini asked as Manik dragged her outside " Batao to sahi"
"See it yourself "
He said and opened the bedroom door.As soon as they entered the living area , nandini's eyes widened in surprise.The whole living area looked different.It seemed like they were on the sky.Clouds were floating near their feet.
"Wo dekho , that's the moon" Manik pointed towards the crescent shaped white couch that had been placed in the corner of the room "And these are the stars"
"And that one star is where I live!" Manik pointed towards the brightest star.
Nandini was excited to see the view of the sky.
" You liked it?"
"Manik I loved it!" She replied.
Manik smiled and picked her up in his arms.
"I love you Nandini...I love you so much"He spoke intently looking into her eyes.
"Jhooth bolte ho tum" nandini pouted her lips " Had you been in love with me , you would have never left me alone like this" she crossed her arms on her chest.
"Par main to yahin tha Nandini , har pal tumhare paas tumhare saath!" He replied placing her down to stand on her feet.
Main khoya toh dhoondne na aaiyo

Manik leaned forward and kissed her forehead.He moved his face little lower and kissed both her eyes one by one. Nandini smiled as manik nudged up her chin with his finger.Nandini clinged to him shyly.

Manik made her look up and gently fused her lips with his in a soul searing kiss.

He scooped her in his arms and led her towards the corner of the room , placing her on the couch gently.He laid beside her as she snuggled closer.Manik buried his face in the crook of her neck and placed a few warm kisses there.
Nandini pulled apart and looked at him.His eyes were full of love.He leaned once again to claim her lips but nandini placed her fingers between their lips.
"Kya hua?" he whispered and kissed her fingers.
"Ab tum mujhe chhod kar to nahi jaoge naa Manik?" she asked softly.
"Its very late Nandini , I think you should sleep"He slid his hand vertically over her face to close her eyelids.
Nandini dutifully obeyed him and drifted to sleep.

Nandini woke up the next morning and without opening her eyes she flapped her hands in the air.
" Good morning manik" She smiled calling out his name " Manik where are you?"
She lazily opened her eyes and sat up with a jerk.She was still sleeping on the couch in the living area but he wasn't there.Infact everything had changed since last night.There was no moon , no stars , no clouds and NO MANIK."
"Manik" Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked around for him.There was no hope and still there was.
"Manik " She called his name again and again as she looked for him in every corner of the house.She moved her hands frantically to look for him behind the curtains , behind the doors , under the table.
Tears were meandering down her cheeks as she was moving around the house like a maniac calling out his name.Eventually she lost to herself and knelt down on the floor yelling his name painfully.
Navya who was sleeping in the adjoining room heard her cry and came out running.she knelt down beside Nandini and held her tightly.
"Nandini ..nandini..Kya hua tumhe.Why are you crying?"She asked pulling apart and wiping off her tears "Kya tumne phir se ...Manik..ko dekha?" She spoke reluctantly.
Nandini gathered herself and nodded her head in affirmation.
"Nandini , now I seriously think you need a psychiatrist" Navya's tone was firm " You have been hallucinating a dead man over 6 years now...High time you sought medical help Nandini"
"He is not dead " nandini yelled as tears formed in her eyes again "Suna tumne mera Manik zinda hai aur wo aata hai mujhse milne. I did not hallucinate god dammit.I saw him. I felt him.He was here only"
Navya let out a deep breath and stood up on her feet .
"Achha maan liya ki aata hai wo tumse milne ..par fir aur kisi ko kyu nahi dikhta?" Navya was tired of explaining this to her friend .
"Nandini" Navya held her shoulders and made her stand up " Nandini you cannot spend your whole life like this. Manik died in the blast ..its been 6 years.You will have to accept this " Her voice was soft " You have to move on..apne liye nahin to Manan ke liye.Aryamann is ready to accept you both.Even you know how well Manan gets along with him.He'll be a perfect father to him and a perfect husband to you"
Aryamann ,a common friend of theirs , had proposed nandini a few days back.Navya had been trying to convince Nandini for accepting him but nandini showed no interest.
Before nandini could reply , she heard Manan crying and both of them rushed towards her room.
"What happened baby?"Nandini asked as she took her sleeping baby in her arms
"Mumma aap kahan gaye the mumma?" He was wailing " Mujhe nini me darr lag raha tha.Mujhe laga aap bhi papa ki tarah mujhe chhod kar chale gaye"
"Nahi beta , mumma yahin hai. Apne raja beta ke paas" She wiped off his tears and kissed his forehead " Mumma to kitchen me aapka lunch pack kar rahi thi." She lied conveniently
"Good morning Navya massi" manan looked at Navya.
"Good morning my baby bear"Navya leaned forward and pecked his cheek.
"School ka time ho gya mumma?"He asked
"Yes beta.Now get up and go into the washroom.Main aapki tayari karti hu"
"ok mumma" He hopped down from the bed and kissed Nandini's cheek " I am so excited for the school today mumma.You know Navya massi aaj school me Father's day celebration hai aur sab bachho ke papa aayenge.Shayad wahan mere papa bhi aa jayeein" He announced and happily and ran towards the washroom.
Navya was completely taken aback.
"Nandini ye tum theek nahi kar rahi hu..I am telling you " Navya spoke sternly " Why the hell are you hiding the truth from the little one.Tum khud be darkness me jee rahi ho aur usse bhi apne saath drag kar rahi ho.Cant you tell him that his father has gone to place from where no one comes back!"
"Navya please stop this.I cant bear it anymore" nandini pleaded with teary eyes.
"nandini , a truth is a truth.The sooner you accept the better it is.Tumne manan ko to assure kar diya ki tum usse chhod kar nahi jaogi but how can you be so sure.Life is so unpredictable.Hamare baad manan ka kya hoga..He doesn't have a father , brother , sister...no one to call his.Just think about it dammit.He needs a family ...a father to help him grow up.And no one can make a better father than Aryamann.Dont punish the little soul Nandini.Just give him a father's love.He deserves it." Navya spoke her heart out and turned around to leave " Think about what I just said nandini...think about it!!"
She left the room leaving the shattered nandini behind.Her words had hit her soul.manan was suffering unnecessarily.But how could she marry Aryamann.Her heart was shouting every moment that Manik would come back someday!
