Badshah, even at B-school

Bengaluru: Bengaluru's premier B-school was a different setting for Bollywood's Badshah, but Shah Rukh Khan on Friday evening still did what he's best at -- charming IIM-Bangalore alumni with his wit and humour as he held the stage for over an hour, and left the audience begging for more.

Khan was speaking at the inauguration of IIM-Bangalore's alumni conclave and first leadership summit. From reminiscing about the days when he was a Fauji' on the small-screen to declaring his preference for "lady bosses," Khan swung on and off topics.

"I'm no guru in leadership," said Khan, adding that his success as an actor, although a result of extreme dedication and hard work, actually started as an accident, specifically a back injury that ended his dream to be a sportsman.

"But it's a much happier accident to be here, addressing this gathering, which wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for that previous accident," he said.

Khan said leaders should move beyond set goals, treating them only as milestones since "a quantifiable goal is an illusion." Encouraging creativity within leaders, he said, "Creativity is not a managerial concept, it has to be imaginerial."

Biocon boss Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, actor Kabir Bedi, former minister Shashi Tharoor, tennis ace Vijay Amritraj and Karnataka Chief Secretary Kaushik Mukherjee were among those that attended the session.

K..K..Kiran'

Apart from sharing stage with her when they both received Padma awards, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Khan said, is also someone he looked up to and thought was an extremely intriguing and exciting person.

Asked if he were to work for a company, who would be his role model, Khan said it would definitely be Kiran, adding with a witty touch that she was also the only Kiran he knew to whom he could say "I love you K..K..Kiran".
