Shah Rukh Khan- the name spells enigma, charm, romance, sensuality, love...! If you are as crazy about the King of Romance as we are, then relive the love for the man with these nine places in India every true-blue Shah Rukh Khan fan must visit! These places around the country have been touched by the King Khan himself, and a pilgrimage is long due, don't you think?

1. Mustard fields of Punjab, DDLJ

Think romance', and an endless yellow sweeps in front of your eyes, the sound of a mandolin playing a familiar tune...yes, trust SRK to show us that there is timeless romance in the mustard fields of Punjab. Experience it for yourself. Plan a trip to Amritsar, and stay at Punjabiyat, the homestay located in the middle of the yellow fields. Walk through the fields, stretch your hands out and click a photo together. Trust us, it doesn't get better than this! And to sprinkle some more love in your life, there's Butter Chicken, the pigeons, the thick Lassi, and the big-hearted smiles...wherever you go.

2. Madhuri Lake, Arunachal Pradesh, Koyla

The Sangetsar Lake, in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh became immensely popular as Madhuri' Lake, after Madhuri and SRK swooned to the love song Tanhayi tanhayi tanhayi...' on the banks of this picturesque lake. The lake remains snowed up for most of the year, but during the few months in which it remains open, the Sangetsar Lake is choc-a-bloc with tourists. The lake is full of tree trunks, adding to its rugged beauty. Even though it is popular by the name of Madhuri, Shah Rukh fans too shouldn't miss out on this offbeat location.

3. Wai, Maharashtra, Swades

Swades, which showcased the actor at his most sublime, was shot in the picturesque village of Wai, about 90 kilometres from Pune. Wai has a story steeped in history, it is the ancient kingdom of Virat Nagari, situated on the banks of the Krishna River. Now, stripped of its glamour, it is quiet and beautiful"just like the non-glamourous' avatar donned by Shah Rukh in Swades. In Wai, stroll through the villages, catch a sunset by the water tanks, keep your lenses ready to capture the women as they spread out colourful saris to dry on the stone steps, or watch the arati at one of the ancient temples. Time stops still at Wai, and it is truly where you fall in love with India anew.

Dhom Dam, an earthfill and gravity dam near the village of Wai, was where the unforgettable song sequence Yeh jo des hai tera...' was shot. The pristine azure waters and the surrounding Sahayadri hills make the Dhom Dam a must-visit. In winters, it's possible to pitch a tent on the banks of the reservoir and fall asleep to the sound of the gentle lapping of the waters, and watching the sky lit up by stars.

4. Bhedaghat Marble Rocks, Asoka

Asoka had King Khan slipping into the role of Emperor Asoka effortlessly as ever. One of the pivotal songs from the grand biopic, Raat ka nasha abhi...' was shot extensively amidst the Marble Rocks of Bhedaghat near Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. The Marble Rocks and their changing hues are best explored by a coracle or a boat ride through the Narmada River and the towering rocks on both sides. From November to May, the rocks look even more stunning from the waters, especially on full moon nights.

Don't forget to visit the Dhuandhar Waterfalls, too.

5. Assam, Dil Se

Dil Se, which begins with Shah Rukh as a radio reporter asked to cover the Assam insurgency, is set in the North-East but was shot largely in other locations. However, the movie did bring to the forefront some of the stunning locales of Assam. Lumding Station(which, incidentally, was recreated) and Haflong were shown beautifully in the film, especially in the scenes where Shah Rukh interacts with the bubbly Preity Zinta, and sees Manisha Koirala for the first time.

6. Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Ladakh in Kashmir, Jab Tak Hai Jaan

The feisty journalist Akira and the somber Army officer Samar meet in arguably the most beautiful place in the country, Pangong Lake in Leh. The scene where Shah Rukh, riding on the bike through the Indus Valley, and the camera pans to take in the breathtakingly beautiful mountains all around- makes you want to take another bike trip through the stunning terrain of Ladakh. Of course, who would match SRK'S lan in cruising through the road on a bike, his aviators firmly in place...and every bit of his regal attitude shining through!?

The legendary director Yash Chopra's love for Kashmir has wowed the audience through the ages, and with his last film, it was taken to new heights. Large portions of the film were shot in the verdant valleys of Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Yusmarg. The meadows of Gulmarg and Pahalgam, and the shikaras on Dal Lake come alive in the song Jiya Re...', while the views of the snow-capped mountains and coniferous forests abound in the scenes filmed at Yusmarg. Here's yet another reason to fall in love with Kashmir!

7. Meesapulimala, Kerala, Chennai Express

The blockbuster Chennai Express showcased the splendour of many offbeat locations around South India. The most stunning of these is Meesapulimala, one of the filming locations for the song Titli..'. Meesapulimala is the second highest peak in Kerala, after Anaimudi. The lush green hills in the backdrop of Shah Rukh romancing Deepika is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famed for its rich biodiversity. It is also one of the most scenic trekking routes in the state. Kolukkumalai, the world's highest tea estate, is at the summit of Meesapulimala. So, soak in the nature and romance of God's Own Country with yet another destination made famous by the nation's heartthrob.

Some of the other beautiful locations across Kerala where Chennai Express was filmed include the Devikulam Lake near Munnar. The lake is secluded by tall trees, which almost shelter the clear waters. It is the perfect place to hold hands and whisper sweet nothings into each others' ears, or simply enjoy the solitude.

8. Dudhsagar Falls, Goa, Chennai Express

The Chennai Express' Falls, as it is now called by the thousands flocking to see the Dudhsagar Falls, this spectacular waterfalls lies on the Konkan Railway route from Mumbai to Goa. Especially beautiful after the monsoons, the beautiful Dudhsagar Falls is famous for its unparalleled beauty, as the milky white waters rush down from the cliffs, its stepped structure adding to its show. The mists that envelope the hills, and the sheer greenery surrounding the falls is a true treat to the eye.

9. Darjeeling, Kurseong, Main Hoon Na

Bollywood's love affair with the Queen of the Hills is well known, and the King Khan is no exception to this rule. Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman, the first blockbuster hit in Shah Rukh's career, was partially shot in the quaint hill station. Shah Rukh returned once again, this time to shoot Main Hoon Na, in Kurseong's famous St. Paul's School. Kurseong, a tiny hill station, exudes an old-world charm, even though it is now a bustling city. Kurseong offers beautiful views of snow-capped mountains, and the romance of the tea gardens is hard to ignore. Walk to Eagle's Crag, and regale in the breathtaking view of the Teesta Valley below, or, for a truly romantic afternoon, walk to St. Mary's Hill, with its isolated churches and misty pine forests..that set the perfect backdrop for some love. Also go to the Ghoom Railway Station, a quaint little station where the Toy Train Stops, it is bound to remind you of SRK getting down from the train, a cloud of smoke marking his entry.

Whether it's the Wagah Border where Veer Zaara was shot, or the bylanes of Amritsar recreated for Rab Ne Bana di Jodi, these places around India are certainly more beautiful when you imagine the ultimate hero shooting in the locales. If you do know of more places in India we should visit to prove our loyalty for Shah Rukh, do mention them on the comments, and we'll take up the challenge!
