New Delhi: Prashant Tamang from Darjeeling has won the Indian Idol-3, Indian media has reported.
At the three-hour final show of the Sony Entertainment Television's popular programme in the Indian capital,New Delhi, actor John Abraham declared the 24-year-old policeman from eastern India the winner.
Amit Paul, who hails from Shillong, also in eastern India, was declared the runner-up after a whopping 70 million viewers sent in their votes.
Both contestants won a Maruti Suzuki car, while Prashant bagged a Rs 10 million-contract with Sony Entertainment as well.
Prashant's win was greeted with bursting crackers in Darjeeling as thousands celebrated the local boy's triumph through the chilly mountain night
