Chapter-18
JAANE KYUN...The drive home was filled with Ishita's silent sobs. Raman was wondering why is she crying. He really didn't know the worth of a woman's virginity and dignity. He didn't know what the society will mark her if there will be any unexpected bad impact from this pre-marital affair. He had been with a lot of women who were also unmarried. But their lifestyle was poles apart from that off Ishita. Even then, he couldn't stomach her cries. He felt she is acting silly.
He was unable to understand her feelings and worries. She was getting on his nerves by crying nonstop. He turned to her after putting a sudden break. He was about to lash out at her but her innocent moistened face calmed him down.
"Kya hai Laxmi...?"
(What happened Laxmi?)
She turned to him while her sobs increased. Fidgeting with the neckline of her kurti she said weakily, "I'm scared...Hamare shaadi toh honge nah...?"
(Will our marriage happen?)
He caressed her cheek and replied, "Teri yeh tension keliye mere paas ek dava hai."
(I've a medicine for your tension)
She furrowed her eyebrows while he continued, "Kal denge. Ab just relax"
(Will give you tomorrow. Now just relax)
He stopped the engine in front of her house. It was past 11 and the whole colony was asleep after turning off the lights. He opened the car door for her and walked to open the gate. When he was about to unlock the gate he saw her struggling to get out of the car.
ISHITA'S POVI couldn't help crying thinking about it. The images of us doing it time and again came in front of my eyes. I felt I had done a great sin. The huge mistake of my life. When it was not that I could still feel his hands and lips over me.
Ayyo Murugan...yeh maine kya kiya...!(What had I done!)
He drove casually home ignorant of the pain I was undergoing. Insensitive man! He got angry when he heard me crying. I couldn't control the sob because of both mental and physical ache.
Yeh toh mujhse gussa hoga hi...joh milna hai voh toh mil hi gaya hai nah...!(He'll get angry because he got what he exactly wanted)
But then, something melted him. He instantly changed his expression to loving and concerned one. I was more than happy when he caressed my cheek to pacify me. I voiced my worry over our wedding. He doesn't know what I'm tensed about. But still he promised me of some dava/medicine that will cure my tension.
Kya hosakta hai? Voh toh bas bolke chup baita...!(What'll be that? He just sat silent after that)
I felt him ignoring me from when it was all over between us. I felt I'm thrown out. But I has had a tint of trust in him that he won't back off from his promises.
When we reached home he opened the car door for me to get out and walked to open the gate. I tried to get out of the car but the soreness in between my limps made me shrink in pain. He must have noticed, so he came rushed to me.

Raman stood next to her a little leaning over and asked if she is OK. She was a embarrassed to share it to him. Then what is in it. He obviously know what she is going through. Even though she just looked away; her eyes again getting wet thinking about it. His presence felt torturous for her.
"Voh...bahut...dard ho raha hai kya?"
(That...pains a lot?)
His voice so soft and caring. She looked at him the moment she heard his loving interrogation. He forwarded his hands and she threw her in his arms in no time. She felt safe in his chest. He slowly without letting her know pulled her out from the seat all the way not breaking the hug. When the door was closed she was completely in his arms, her hands wounded around his neck and head hidden in its crook.
He pressed the calling bell and stood there looking at her who was trying hard to stay awake. But her tiredness and pain made her slip to a deep slumber in his hands. Mhika and Amma opened the door and got worried seeing Ishita laying unconscious in Raman's arms. They tried to shower him with questions but he shushed them saying that she slipped in the park and haves pain in her leg. So he picked her up. Amma found it so romantic but Mihika smelled something fishy.
He took her to her room and carefully made her lay in the bed. When he was about to go out she grabbed him by his wrist. He turned his smiling face to behold his sleeping one whilst she mumbled, "Iss dard...khushi bhari dard hai...lekin mujhe...voh dard mujhe mat do Raman...joh ap sare ladkiyon ko dete aye hai...mujhe mat chodo Raman..."
(This pain is filled with happiness. But please don't give me the pain which you used to give every girls. Don't leave me)
He leaned over her and kissed her forehead. "Never...chahe kuch bhi hojaye...main tujhe nahin chodunga...Raman Bhalla kabhi promise nahin todta."
(Whatever may happen...I won't leave you. RKB never breaks his promises)
She caressed hi face in her sleep making him close his eyes feeling peace.
"Apne aisa kyun kiya mere saath?" she asked softly stroking his hair while he kept his head on her heart.
(Why did you do this to me?)
"Because I...Maybe because I love you..."
She patted his back while he hugged her closer. "I'm sorry...main ne apse kuch chupaya..." (I hid something from you) she said while he listened to her erratic heartbeats in such a relaxed state. It was not owing to his proximity but something else. It is because of her secrecy. Before he could probe her to answer, she fell asleep. He left there after raining some soft assuring kisses on her cheeks. He asked both Mihika and amma to come home for there is something special the next day..
MIHIKA ON CALL"Hello Mani..."
"Haan bolo Mihika...kya hua?"
(Say...what happened?)
"Voh...mujhe Raman Bhalla ke bare mein kuch kehna hai..."
(I want to talk about RKB)
"Kuch gadbad hua hai kya?"
(Any problem?)
"Haan...something is fishy. Usne akka ko late night ghar chodkar gaya...And...she is not able to walk...sprain or something."
(Yes. He dropped akka home late night___)
"Raman Ishuke saath kuch...?"
(Did Raman do something with Ishu?)
"I hope not...Ab mujhe apke help chahiye."

"Kya karna hai...?"
(what?)
"I want you to help me stop this marriage."
"Main kya kar sakta hun?"

"Ap akka se shaadi kar sakta hai kya?"

"That doesn't matter. I want my akka to be in safe hands."

"Thank you Mani. Kal Raman Bhalla ke ghar aana. He is planning something. We need to stop him."

MORNING AT RAMAN'S HOMEThe Iyers came there in time as per Raman's instruction and Toshi welcomed them happily. Ishita stood nervously beside amma while Raman smiled looking at her. She didn't smile back. His deed made her nump, expressionless and what not. He wanted to see her smile again. So it is time to do something to bring it back.
He walked to his mummiji and whispered something. She gladly walked out and brought someone inside. The entire Iyers looked on bemused not knowing what is going on. As if clearing their doubts the middle aged man talked, "Toh ladka-ladki kaun hai? Main toda jaldi mein hun toh marriage registration jaldse karna hai."
(Who're the bride-groom? I'm in a hurry so the marriage registration should be done quickly)
Ishita was on cloud nine hearing the same while Mihika was astonished at his plannings. Mani is yet to come. Amma being so happy with the deal, the registration is impossible to stop. Toshi was the one who made the papers and arranged the registrar for the event. Raman was waiting impatiently to sign the papers and make her his in all sense.
Mihika tried to intervene many times but finally the marriage registration has been done. Raman smirked looking at Mihika when he signed the papers. So he didn't noticed the names in it. Ishita was shivering so much thinking that the truth is going to come out soon.
It was Toshi who chirply walked to her bahu/daughter in law and took her in an embrace saying, "Ab ban gayi nah madrasan teri beti mere bete ka patni...punjaban...Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla."
(See madrasan now your daughter is a punjaban my son's wife, Ishita Raman Kumar Bhalla)
Blood stopped circulating in her vains and her entire being panicked to see his countenance changing to rage. Gritting his teeth he pulled her forcefully by her arm making the entire crowd flabberghasted. She pleaded with her eyes not to create any drama at least in front of the family. But she failed to control him this time.
"You played with Raman Kumar Bhalla. You're gonna pay for this." He shouted dangerously making everyone shell shocked while Ishita quivered in his arms.
