Man, students are so annoying!! I mean I am a student also. But these students, arghh. I wish they would just do everything online so it will be less filing for me. I was ranting about my really slow and boring morning to my best friends: Fatima and Liv. I was out on my break for 15 mins and now I was walking back. On the way back, I bought myself a mocha shake from the Student's Cafe. It tasted amazing in this hot summer day.
I cannot live without talking to my friends. Just like any other Americans, we are always on our phones. I was busy texting them as I was walking back with my headphones plugged in as I sway just a little on the beats of Crush by David Archuleta. I raise my gaze up for second just to check that I was walking right and notice that I was almost by the door.
I look away instantly hearing the ding of Fatima's message. I was about to type my reply when I snap my gaze up. I couldn't believe what I saw. Guys!!!! I think REYANSH SINGHANIA is here!!!!!!!! I texted urgently to both of them with extra 7 exclamation marks to emphasize my point. I got a immediate reply from them saying that they didn't believe me.
I try to tell them that I wasn't lying and this guy walking towards me well, not exactly me probably to the other direction was definitely him. I was tempted to take a pic of him just to prove it to them but I didn't have the guts. Just as I was about to think that he just looked like the actor, I heard somebody say, "Excuse me."
I look up from my phone to see the same guy. Oh God, please, please! He couldn't have heard my thoughts or seen me look at him as he was busy on his I-phone 6 when I looked up at him. I did a quick prayer as I walk to him. "Yes, can I help you?" I ask politely trying not to act like I might know him as I pull my headphones away for courtesy though I could still hear him. I didn't want to make it obvious. Even if he is a "The Rey", it doesn't matter to me. I think to myself.
He looked nice wearing all casual clothes. He was wearing a white shirt whose sleeve was folded till his arms with blue denims and black and grey converse. He also wearing a baseball cap which made me wonder if he was really who I think he was and he was just donning this look to hide his identity.
"Hey," he said giving me his killer smile while I just give him a genuine smile. "Ummm... I am new here and I am looking for the enrollment department. Can possibily show me where that is?" he asked politely. "Sure, " I said smiling. "Actually, I am just heading that way so I can surely show you," I say smiling as softly as I turn my gaze away as I point to the door, "this way."
We both walk together quietly. I told Fatima and Liv that I was going back to work and put the phone away but I was still listening to songs as I can at work. I didn't tell him my name nor tried to get know his. I just didn't want to initiate into a conversation.
I had learned my lesson by the New York incident. I wasn't going to repeat my mistake. He was cute and all but it didn't matter. I remembered the promise I did to myself and my sister. Just than we got to the the enrollment department. "Here, we are..." I was about to tell him that when another Indian guy come up to him.
"Dude, where were you? I was looking for you. Let's go! Our turn is here," he says urgently to him. Finding him busy, I walk away without saying anything to him. I walk around from the other side. I looked for people in the other front counters as the doors were always locked and I need a key or somebody to open the door from inside to open.
But probably everybody was out for break or lunch as Eric was only up in the front handling the students. As he(Reyansh) and his friend walk up to the counter, I walk up to that counter also from the other way. I gave him a sideglace but I didn't smile or anything. Keeping to myself to not give any hint of my interest.
"Hey, Eric! Can I borrow your keys please?" I ask sweetly with a big smile. "Sure, Kriya but you need to set COMPASS (it's a placement test to see what class you place into) for me," he said smiling as he got the keys free from his jeans and hand it to me. I walk to the door without looking at him(Rey).
I get in and come around and stand behind Eric after handing the keys back with a thanks as he does all the processing of the two guys' paper work. Suddenly, I realize something and that brought a smile on my face. His name will be on the paper! I think to myself. Sure, I didn't want to do anything with him but I still would love to find if he is who I think he is. Muahahahaha.
I look up smiling and found him looking at me and that moment I don't why but I knew that he knew what I was thinking. Though he wasn't smiling, his eye were glistening with amusment.
I look away immediately hoping beyong hope that I just imagined that as I grab the sheets from Eric's hand and walk into the COMPASS room. The first thing I did when I close the door behind me was to look at the sheet. I look down at the sheet and read: Aditya Malik.
My smile slip as I realize that I thought wrong. I couldn't believe it. I slam the sheet on the desk and sit down to put the information. Setting it all up, I got up fixing the the sheet when I suddenly notice there was another sheet below the first one. I remember that there were two people taking COMPASS him and his friend.
Without even realizing that I'm holding my breath, I remove the first sheet. Last Name: Singhania, First Name: Reyansh. I read the name on the top of the second sheet. A big smile came on my face as I couldn't believe it. I quickly jump on another computer and set his test up for him. Than I walk to the door.
I grab the handle as I close my eyes and take deep breaths to calm myself. I am fine. I have totally no idea that he is a big celebrity. As soon as I open my eyes that stupid grin was still there on my face. Shaking my head, I open the door.
"Reyansh? Aditya?" I say faking a unsure look as I look the guys standing in front of the door. They both nodded while Reyansh(Who i knew was reyansh for sure) give me that amused look more openly. I was tempted to roll my eyes at him but I control the temptation.
I move aside and let them pass in front of me. I noted unlike Aditya Reyansh smells really nice as they pass by me."Okay, so I don't know who is who so let me just tell you this sseat is Reyansh's and that is Aditya's," I say continuing my pretence of not knowing that he is Reyansh the other will be Aditya with the simple process of elimnation.
"I'm Aditya," Aditya said smiling at me as he takes his seat. "I'm Reyansh," he says smiling smugly at me as he takes his seat. "Okay, cool. Take your time. You don't need the scrap sheet of paper as you are not taking math section. When you are done, print it and than go back to the front," I say looking at him and they both nodded.
"All the best," I say smiling at them both. Reyansh caught my eyes when he nodded smiling back. TRYING not to think much about him or his smiling, I go out the door and try to focus on my work.
