Hey... i know i am late.. and i am not responding.. sorry guys.. i had gone for a family wedding and couldnt come to forum since then..

Part 33

Malik stared at Padmini as his heart started to ache. The lady constables came forward and handcuffed her. Seeing that Madhu hid her face in RK's chest while RK patted her head. Madhu tried her best not to cry but a few tears kept escaping her eyes.

As Padmini walked out of the witness box, she kept her gaze locked with Malik's who still stared at her with aching eyes. Tears started shining through their eyes.

Malik walked forward to her as they stood face to face. "You never listen to what I say.." he said blaming her.

"That's what I am guilty for the most.." Padmini said with trembling voice.

"Then you should have listened to me this time and stayed at home.. You know I can't afford to let anything come to you.." Malik was controlling his voice from breaking into sobs.

"This is what I deserve Malik.. and this is what Rishabh deserves.. " she said looking at RK. "He deserves justice for his parents.."

Malik closed his eyes in pain as he realized that she was right. He knew it but was trying to run away from it.

She walked to RK and stood infront of him as he stared at her with a slight frown. "I couldnt even gather the courage to stand in front of you.. but just one feeling made me stand here today. That you deserve what you had strived for. I know you would never have stood against me because you were never like me. but I will make that task easy for you..." she said wth a slight smile while RK looked away trying not to give in. "Take care of Madhu.." she raised her hand to touch her head in love but couldn't bring herself to touch her. She stopped midway and pulled her hand away.

"You are her mother.." RK said while still looking away, reminding her that she can show her love for Madhu. He knew Madhu needed that one hug before parting from her.

Padmini looked at RK expecting him to be looking at her with a little less hate but to her disappointment he wasnt even seeing her. She looked at Madhu and kept her hand on her head. Madhu closed her eyes savouring the feeling as her erratic breaths soothened. She looked up at RK to see his reaction seeking permission and found him looking at her lovingly. He pursed his lips and nodded his head slightly encouraging her.

Madhu turned back to her mother still sobbing. As soon as she saw her, fresh tears started flowing through her eyes. She threw herself on Padmini and cried while hugging her and Padmini patted her head but she didnt cry. She was feeling strong today doing the right thing after years together. Malik looked at the two with pain while RK smiled slightly feeling good that Madhu was getting that moment of peace which he missed

The two parted after some time as Madhu controlled her sobs. Padmini touched her cheek lovingly and then turned back to Malik.

"Malik I want to take a promise from you before going, that in the next life you would again be mine. And then I will love you even more than you have loved me. I will show you that it is possible, I promise you that.." she said with a confident smile.

Malik smiled through the tears in his eyes. "You wont be able to beat me.." they both burst into a slight laugh hearing that.

"Malik.." she said suddenly getting apprehensive. "May I ask you for something?"

"You never need to take permission.. whatever it is.." Malik said.

"Can we marry again..?" She said apprehensively looking at her.

Malik looked at her confused.

"This time I want to marry you with all my heart and soul.. just to be yours.." Padmini said guilty while Malik felt a thorn prick as he realized that their marriage was not real for padmini.

"We can't give you that much of time Mrs. Malik.." the constable interrupted.

"Please let me have a few more minutes.." she pleaded.

"Uncle.." RK called out. "You take her out for sometime.. I will take care of other things.."

Malik nodded his head and forwarded his hand to Padmini as she held it as if her life depended on it. Malik took her out of the court room while RK walked to the constables as he handed them a few notes quitely.

RK and Madhu came out and found Malik and Padmini standing infront of a big tree. Malik held her hand and walked around the tree while padmini walked behind him staring at him with love and admiration. Madhu looked at RK and saw a slight smile on his face. She hugged him as she saw her parents taking their oaths yet again but this time honestly.

RK and Madhu were now back to their home. RK was sitting in his arm chair in Radha and Mohan's room. Finally he felt peace around their memories. Finally, he could sit their and feel himself close to hem without having to be guilty. He stared at their picture ahead. A happily married couple as they were who loved each other so much that they lived together and died together. He so wanted his love to be the same. Pure and intense, so much that even death cant seperate them. He smiled as he thought of it. But how can that be?! A voice echoed in his mind suddenly. When the first step is wrong itself how can anything else go right. He tried remembering his marriage with Madhu and all he could remember was just blurry images of a protesting and pleading Madhu and fire blazing. What? He is so proud of his marriage and his love but he hardly remembers faint images of it. What he did might have qualified his reasoning then but now he knew it was wrong. What he had done to Madhu was not justifiable in any way. She might have forgiven him but he cant forgive himself. He was still lost in thoughts when his gaze fell on the burnt images on the side table. He picked up the picture and remembered how he had put those photos on fire and Madhu had saved them from burning. The picture had him doing sit-ups and asking for forgiveness from Madhu requesting her to marry him. A painful smile played on his lips.

Madhu was in their room as she stared at the sky. The darkness was heartbreaking but the shine of stars made it beautiful and gave hope. That nothing is perfect. If good things arent perfect so are the bad things. Even the black of the night is defected with the light of the stars. She tried to reason to herself that whatever happened was for good. As Padmini had rightly said that RK deserves to see his culprits behind bars. But then the question that plagued her was, Why? Why did any of this had to happen? Why couldn't their lives have been happy and peaceful like it had been 7 years back. The void that has been created would never be filled. It would be there and always prick their hearts.

She was still trying to get herself to terms with the new changes in her life when something came infront of her eyes suddenly. The same childhood photo of her and RK. A smile crept on her face seeing them. The innocent them who had no worries of the world. She looked up to see RK holding the picture with a smile. Madhu smiled at him and then looked at the picture again.

RK came to her side and stared at the picture too.
"I wish I could be like them again.." Madhu said with a painful smile.

"I wish too.." RK replied. "Madhu.." he said softly.

"Yes..?"

"Amm.. will.. I wanted to ask.. Will you marry me?" RK said nervously looking at her.

Madhu turned to him suddenly. "What?" She asked not believing.

"I am sorry Madhu for what i did to us.. I almost destroyed your life.. forced you into a relationship that you didnt want then. I destroyed one of the most beautiful event of your life.. and even mine.. I had waited for that day for a long time.. since these days.." he gestured to the picture. "When we were babies.. but I destroyed it in my blindness for revenge.. I know you have accepted us.. but I want to give our relationship that celebration which it deserves.. and also Madhu.. What is most important for you to know is that.. I love you.." he paused for a second and Madhu's eyes went wide hearing him.

"Rishu.." she said surprised.

"I have always loved you Madhu.. And the way you have stood by me always.. I dont think I can ever imagine myself standing alome.. Will you marry me?"

She had smile on her lips and tears rolling down her cheeks by now. She opened her mouth to say something but then stopped midway. "No.." she said acting stubborn..

"Why?" RK asked shocked.

"First you have to admit that you are stupid and do 20 sit-ups" she said acting angry.

RK smirked hearing her. "Ohh is that so?" He asked raising an eyebrow.

"Yes it is.." she said tying her hands at her chest.

"Lets see who will do what.." he said and grabbed Madhu by the waist and twirled around as she shrieked at the sudden onslaught but soon burst into laughter as he revolved her round in the air. The room echoed of laughter
