episode 74

ever since he has dared to throw kkg out of his car a zany game of revenge is on. we are in day two and new players join the fun.

the thief of lucknow aka snake as in shyam manohar jha enters the fray with a dramatic nifty necklace plan to throw khushi's life in disarray by getting her accused of being a thief.

well he is a purloiner himself, why would he not wish his paramour to be the same one might think. but here is the thing... she is not his lover. he is completely in la la land about that of course and sets up his trusting missus while filching the necklace himself.

this is just a love game mind you, all because he adores khushi ji. to understand this gobbledegook rationale one must be as twisted as the creepy smiler. in the meantime, the necklace does its own twist and slips away... just as anjali turns to look at shyam... a hint of ajeeb here, something says this isn't going to be a day like other days.

of course, anjali doesn't guess a thing. standing before the mirror, all she sees is what she longs to see, after all the thief has stolen her heart.

in lakshmi nagar, a ringing sound and a sleepy hand. someone is finding it hard to wake up. it's 9 am. not an early riser this hard working girl. but then she leaps out of bed and squeaks, "nau baj gaye!" it's nine already. sanaya looks terribly cute and i feel for kkg having to wake up early.. what was lovely was that she always slept till a little late and woke up after him... unlike the achhi bahus who sprint out of bed at the crack of dawn and wear their saree and layers of jewellery rushing off to be saviour of parivaar and parampara. this super girl sleeps late, dawdles while getting ready and talks nonsense, she also grumbles about silly things and loiters about with a toothbrush in mouth, brushing her teeth. how can one not lau her.

the ebullient tone of the episode has reached the super dramatic bua niece household. today even payal is playing a game. happy ji is her informant about her rajkumar. spurning the steed, he drives an automobile which needs to be serviced of course here in lakshmi nagar.

khushi appears, toothbrush in mouth. payal pretends to be busy with drying clothes not doing anything else out here really.

happy ji's smiling face pops up, " payal ji, akash ji shayad do din mein ayenge." akash will come by in a couple of days.

ooops.

lovely moment between two sisters. one is instantly alert, the other embarrassed. she is the calm sedate one, and she is now in the trap of love.

huh! frowns toothbrush rani aka jalebi bai as in miss khushi kumari gupta. wasn't there a better mechanic in the whole of delhi... why here? she is not very bright this morning, is she. payal hyperventilates. happy ji pouts at the subtext of khushi ji's sentence. the lady with the toothbrush ponders the issue, not minding her sis's advice to stick to the bathroom during ablutions.

"khushi! kitni baar kaha hai, brush bathroom mein kiya jata hai... aur tum ho ki poore ghar mein ghoom ghoom ke brush chabati rahti ho!" how many times have i told you brushing is done in the bathroom, and you are forever strolling around the house chewing on the brush!" (thanks, kizh, for saying you like the dialogue, had to add it.)

then khushi wolfs down breakfast standing, payal is restless and runs to the window to peak... is he here? bua ji bustles. a light slightly crazy air. all along a sense of something on the way.

enter the thief of lucknow. he lies and cheats and the necklace is in the bag...

"jaa rahe nahin... aate hain!" says payal to khushi. don't say i am going, say, i'll be back. almost as an amulet this little au revoir, it perhaps protects her younger sister. today she needs protection... there's enemy action against her.

and not  from the one she regards as enemy.

"achha baba aate hain..." oh all right, i'll be back.

in shantivan a tycoon buttons waistcoat, an air of slight disturbance. what ails him?

his combination has me in a flap... there's no one else i can think of who can carry off that mishmash of colours. but of course, gadbad tycoon couldn't care less, he just knows how to look fabulous. bas.

he is thinking of her. or to be precise, her assault on him. her jalebi bai and joooice and mishri tactics irk and madden.

slight movement of fiery brown irises. the buttoning continues but the mind is on one thing only.

suddenly overcome by an uncanny feeling, he stops and checks his pockets, pats them... she has him where she wants him i am chuckling. he is shaken if not stirred.

"jai prakash! ek baar mere shoes ko ulta karke check karo... kuch... hai toh nahin..." oh that divine pause after "kuch".

check my shoes, jai prakash, see if there's anything in them.

jp is instructed to keep an eye on who comes into the room while the tycoon is away. he is wary of her. i am delighted, she is not only on his mind, he senses her presence in the room. the fact that she was here when he wasn't around, doing things... sort of unsettles him. he is not yelling about it, he is not quite sure what he feels about this it seems to me. his room, his den, and this intruder slips in and out when he has no idea... isn't there something sexy in the very thought? something intimate?

"sach sach batao, tum nani ki jasoos ho na?" tell me the truth, la asks lakshmi, you're nani's spy, aren't you? in this season of play, even la of la la land is talking to a goat.

in a hilarious goofy scene, mami ji tries to get la to say stuff that would go down well with nani. la bungles, calls mami by her namewa instead of lakshmi. nani frowns. mami is frazzled. at this rate, when will her hopes of seeing her bitwa married materialise.

a gorgeous tycoon smoothly walks in. cut to shot from back and what's this? a bald patch?

in the mood of the episode, a little trick. it's the double. the fake asr... much like the fake lakshmi. those who love him know instantly, nahiiin that one is not the boy, no matter what the colour of his suit. an uncanny resemblance to the lakshmi mix up about to roll out.

he's in a rush and on his way out. door opens.

have you heard of the door gift?

well, she is standing there, eyes closed. praying and muttering to dm.

"itni kripa karna ki woh laad governor na mile..." be so merciful that i don't meet that laad governor.

he watches her stonily. something in his eyes, a surge in the music. that sense of topsy turvy, she has no idea he stands before her, looking at her with irritation, ire and a note of what is it? longing?

her hair does fly a bit though. some part of her always knows.

he side steps her and walks out.

when she opens her eyes, she senses something. a pause as she puzzles over the feeling. he turns and looks at her, does he want her to know? or is it because he can't help himself, he must take a look?

the tinkling notes of rabba ve come in. gentle, magical, tender. she does sense him, she turns, but he is gone.

a beautifully crafted serene moment in the middle of light froth much action. a place where the heart and gut talk and no one interrupts. you pause because you must, you can't just walk away. it's lovely to see how this feeling penetrates beyond even sanka devi's sanak, how it makes her stop and feel like a woman, for a while all other things about her set aside.

channe daal, moong daal, urad ki daal... la is learning about daal... mami is fretting about her lack of comprehension. i am wondering why this fairly empty sequence, unless there was some deep significance to all the mah ki daal papa ki daal and arnav ki daal stuff. well it went over my head. but again, i liked the silliness of it all. nothing was normal in this episode.

the thief insists his raanisahiba wear her haar. would she? the first time i saw this i had no idea where that trick would lead.

but lakshmi of shantivan is about to turn the whole game. she is that unknown factor perhaps in every game. she is lakshmi after all, the goddess of wealth, the real wealth of our hearts.

khushi calls her "lakshmi!!!" no ji. she has no idea what unutterably fabulous wealth lakshmi has planned for her and she will stop at nothing to make sure khushi wins this round, gets that wealth.

khushi is in the lion's den, talking to herself, a laptop in her hands. telling herself not to fear, that laad gov is not here, "chaude hokar chal."

as she sets down the laptop, something strange... the laptop is broken. and even as she gawks at it, a pair of shoes right by her that were not supposed to be there.

why had he returned, i wondered. could it be because that restless uncanny feeling pulled him? he said to himself he'd go and see if she was ruining his happiness with some plan again, but really maybe one part of him just wanted to see her. i don't know, but really why did he come back?

not a normal day at all.

a tilt up to reveal enraged asr. a fist is tightened, a girl gulps. music careens ... what's going to happen.

"kaafi talent hai tum me," he whips out, "baar baar mujhe surprise karne ka." you have plenty talent in you to surprise me again and again.

angry. he is really angry.

he is menacing and mean and clenching his teeth. the temerity of thsi girl throws him completely. it also infuriates him. no one. no one behave with him in this manner.

"tum ho kya cheez.. aur jo bhi ho khud ko samajhti kya ho?" what are you? and whatever you are who do you think you are. he bears down on her, insulting and threatening. he is sure she has broken his laptop.

he insinuates she bites the hand that feeds her and she is sneaky, she has deliberately broken his computer. slow comprehension in her.. he is talking about her social status. her place in the house..her eyes cloud with a mix of emotions. he is brutal and aggressive.

what did she think? "kissi ko pata nahin chalega!" no one would know!

"h...humne yeh..." she begins to stammer out that she hasn't broken the thing.

"shut up!" he roars.

"main abhi baat kar raha hoon aur meri baat koi kaatta nahin hai!" i am still talking and no one interrupts me! oh he is in supreme tycoon frame. absolute gadbad tycoon.

"main tumhe achhi tarah pahchanta hoon!" i know you very well, he asserts. does he?

he accuses her of all the things he has figured out she's done. she has done all that and made him a laughing stock... sabke saamne mera mazaak banaya.

"ab meri laptop ko haath lagane ki himmat kaise hui..." how dare you now touch my laptop. oh he is uncontrollably angry. he is not in a sporting mood at all. she has belittled arnav singh raizada. he won't spare her.

don't try to lie, i know your status and type... calls her "do kaudi ki ladki"... along with teh anger there seems to be an unleashing of pent up things... and he wants to get a response from her.

he wants the fight, i get the feeling.

"kabhi kabhi toh mujhe aise lagta hai ki dhoka dena aur jhoot bolna tumhare khoon mein hai!" sometimes i think cheating and lying are in your blood.

he is definitely prodding for a return. this jibe gets to her you can see. he is intense and angry. she is nonplussed and slowly the anger is mounting. a head on collision and a beauty in it. sanaya and barun seem to flow together whether dancing or warring.

"kissike paas paisa hota hai, kissike paas power, kissi ke paas naam, tumhare paas toh kuch bhi nahin hai..."

some have money, some power, others name, you have nothing.

he is getting deeper, becoming more and more insulting, losing hold over his tongue completely... why does she get to him so much? he doesn't wonder, he just hits out.

finally she replies, furious, if i had to write a book on my "aukat", i'd certainly come to you. aap ke paas... i hear him saying mere paas mere saath. paas, yes, always near him, he near her, even when they are far away, even when they are not friends, even when he lives in with someone else, even when she thinks he is morally bereft. even anything... always paas.

he is incensed at the interruption.

"shut up!!" he explodes, she almost cowers...

and then a turn in the game. hand clenches kurta, a resolve is sought, a surprise comeback... "aap shut up!" says khushi kumari gupta.

my favourite dialogue of the episode. so perfectly khushi and really enchanting, especially sanaya's delivery.

aap shut up indeed.

he is shocked.

her temper also has gone beyond a point... almost hysterical now she says, let me make those allegation true, let me break your laptop some more.

he whips out a hand and catches her arm flinging it away, a violence in the room, a skirmish... heat finally flaring out of control and catching fire...

he doesn't let go of her arm. a struggle, a battle royal in fact, ensues. who will succumb.

just two nights ago they had fought, he had had to go back to make sure she was fine... she had sensed him... and he couldn't rest till he knew she was safe.

but nothing is placid and predictable in their story. it's being written all the time by wind sound gussa sanka and the all knowing rabba. its twists and turns take them to places neither had ever thought they'd reach...

the magnificent chemistry of the two actors hold me still. such a bated sense of violent attraction there. even more exciting because neither has identified it for what it is yet.

"chhotey..." it's anjali. the only one who is not playing any game. she is a mere pawn and totally unaware of that of course. i had hoped she'd turn the tables on all and show that she is in fact a powerful queen, but that was not to be.

he lets go of her hand and those angry welts are there on her wrist made... her payal, earrings, dupatta seem loathe to leave him and his fingers have a way of marking her every time.

this time, khushi is too angry to hide anything, ask your brother she tells anjali, what he is saying, i don't understand his tongue.

he is scathing too, the girl you have employed is trying to break my things. he takes it to money... she won't even know the price of this..

she cuts in, won't be more than a human being's surely!

"enough!" he yells.

the mercury is high, anything might happen

and in yet another twist it is revealed di has broken the computer.

a stunned moment of realisation. he had jumped to the wrong conclusion. his eyes change tone, a little taken aback? perhaps a hint of remorse? but not really. she has riled him too much.

he recovers quickly when he hears his sister apologise to khushi. not one chance against his opponent will be missed. he calls her a servant and is ugly in his choice of words.

"di, aapko isse sorry bolne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai. yeh aapki naukar hai... aapki di hui salary se hghar chalta hai isska..."

di, you don't have to say sorry to her, she is your servant... her home runs with the salary you give her.

that is downright nasty and insulting. if he really thinks people who work for you should be treated that way, well then i'll have to say there's something about asr i don't like at all. but something tells me, he is saying this to get to her... that's all.

anjali is stunned.

he marches out...

but he had seen the tears in her eyes, the look on her face... he couldn't care less... or could he?... he had to stop. and in a scene reminiscent of the earlier one at the door, here again at the doorway to his room, his world, a similar palat... and registering of her hurt this time... in his eyes.

he couldn't walk away... rabba ve.

shyam is practicing his bizarre charade. aaargh he hugged her picture to his heart. someone decimate him.

in 75, the roller coaster ride reaches a sublime slant. hold on tight.

Ha what an episode to write about amidst the current lot. I love 74/75/76, santre ki joooce is on its way!😆
KKG, she was absolutely adorable, doesn't payal say something chaboing toothbrush?
And Shyam, his nature was been revealed to us, didn't care if his object of fancy got into trouble, got hurt, as long as he gets his way.
What a difference it is from the current lot of episodes, why did they do this to that girl.

kizh,

why did they do this to the girl?

because they started to panic about trp. they started to go nuts wondering how how how. writing juices dried up. okay whom can we push around? why, the lady of course. and so it went.

but i suspect ever since that forced marriage which apparently the channel insisted on, the writing has been a little helpless and stumbling in the dark.

what was khushi's ott exactly?

i remember there too a sudden chasm. things were going fine. they bickered. she wore saree. then bit by bit everything went crazy. suddenly she was in a tent and eating up all his food.

i loved kkg at this stage. this episode she was too cute. did you see that waking up? and he he the toothbrush tahal in the morning.

payal says, "khushi! kitni baar kaha hai, brush bathroom mein kiya jata hai... aur tum ho ki poore ghar mein ghoom ghoom ke brush chabati rahti ho!"

i loved the wolfing down breakfast scene too... and such afresh unpainted look. why the purdah of make up later? kahey kahey?

episode 74

he is often angry, but when he is angry with her there is an intensity there that's not seen otherwise, almost an involvement. his body bends a certain way, his fingers jab air, his face grows stormy, his eyes burn as though wanting to annihilate her, consume her, touch her. nothing is held back. an emotion is clearly at the root of this. we never get so mad at people who don't matter. my mother used to say, i get angry with you because i love you, i don't get angry at the passerby. twisted it sounded when i was a kid but really that is the point.

in 74, asr's state of dil shows itself again and again, just that he has no idea what's happening. even the way he checks his pockets to see if she's planted something in them speaks of it, that wary look in his eyes, an unusual uncertainty (i know i haven't found the right words, but you know what i am trying to say). i think in these episodes again a level is cleared and his emotions take a deeper hold of his heart and mind. that first meeting at sheesh mahal, then the first rabba ve, their moments of unmitigated awareness and nearness in the rain, the panic of guest house, bersarai's seething silence, teej's compulsion, the storeroom's pounding heat, the breathtaking surprise in a cupboard... "khushi!" one by one a feeling has entered and scaled to capture its quarry. and now it's slipping into all sorts of places within him, he has no control. she can sense him all the time, he is in her thoughts too. she can's leave him and go away to lucknow, she can't feel "theek" after yelling at him, she can "mehsoos" him even when her eyes don't see him and when he hurts her it hurts more somehow. much more.

these were the tender heady explosive days of falling in love... totally dense and teeming with emotion and yet frothy and full of fun, a sexy kind of fun. in between sublime beautiful moments. romance is not exactly a new genre, but the way ipk and asr khushi told the story, it just reached another place within me. and stayed.

episode 75

"iss baar galati hamari hai..." as khushi said in a clear voice this time the fault was hers, i felt something move in me.

the frantic tension of the past few minutes disappeared, the need to thwart him vanished, as did the desire to win. khushi set aside all her angst and anger against asr. ever since the night of janmashtami an awareness and an ire had stalked both. they had reacted to each other from that place.

he had been harsh and nasty, throwing her out of his car, accusing her of being underhand, finally saying she was a mere servant, there was no need to apologise to someone in her position. he had meant to hurt her. he had succeeded.

she in the meantime had mounted a khushi like offensive using song, sugar, shoes filled with juice to stymie his relentless asrness, to get him to rue the day he had dared to dislodge her from his car and driven off.
they had constantly thought of each other. but really as objects, not as who they really were.

in fact, from the very first day their view of each other was filtered by prejudice. it may have been an instinctive defence for the impact of that first meeting was disproportionately massive.

on this day, khushi was winded by his dismissive and cruel words and possibly wound up and in a frazzled state with all the plotting and planning. he too i had the feeling was wearied by their confrontations, wary too. and maybe just a little disturbed by his own harshness.

it was in that state he had come across her at the poolside. he had stopped instantly, looking lost for a second, as if he was searching for the right thing to say.

she had sensed he was there without even turning around, that feeling around each other ever stronger. she'd turned her head just a little, yes, it was him. she'd resolutely looked away. she would not interact with him.
i felt he knew he had crossed a line. this is him.. the anger makes him lose all bounds, then sense returns and he must make amends.

"khushi, tumne..." he started. i wondered what he wanted to say. but she cut him short.

"bas! humey apni aukat ke baare mein aur baat nahin karni!" enough! i don't want to talk any more about my station in life, she said whirling around.

when she turned back and bent to get the tea cup, she felt the pull on her dupatta. she grew tense... we saw them standing by the pool, him behind her, a dupatta stretched. no one knew what would happen next. perhaps not even khushi.

it had to be the dupatta, i thought. from that very first episode this piece of gossamer garment has had a thing for him. it fell in episode one. in three, it reached out and touched in fact caressed him. since then, again and again it has flown and blown and done all sorts of things to touch him, like an unknown part of her reaching out, needing him, wanting him. now it would lead her to do something she'd never dreamt she'd ever do. so that we can arrive at the poolside once more.

and if we thought ascribing feelings and will to inanimate objects is ott fangurrling, i just heard that during sabbath when the blessing of the bread and wine are on at jewish homes, the bread is always kept covered because in mystical judaism there's the thought that the bread feels bad because the wine is chosen first and so is covered so as not to hurt it. hmmm.

yeah, that dupatta does its own thing and it finds the most mystical ways to mesmerise the two.

"hamara dupatta chhoriye," let go of my dupatta, she commanded.

"what??" he scrunched his brow and looked puzzled.

she gritted her teeth and the next instant a quick swivel, a flash of hand and something was splashing on his face... violence again.

like that flinging of her arm in his room just a while ago.

"aap ki himmat kaise hui!!" how dare you! echoed, her voice full of distress and umbrage.

his face was in profile. pain, no agony, began to ride it... lines on the forehead and tightening of the lids. what had she done?

his fist was clenched tight. he stood stiff and straight. hot tea had been flung on him... have you ever been burned by tea? piping hot tea?

he opened his eyes and looked at her... his jaw hard. he said nothing, he showed nothing.

music recorded the raging moment and she would have turned away in a fit of self righteous anger but her eyes fell on the potted cactus that actually had caught her garment.

horror descended as she realised what a terrible mistake she'd made. her brow trembled and creased. music changed again, becoming light, whimsical. khushi reacted in her comical way, panic perhaps making her turn to this defence of hers. hands covered mouth, horror reached eyes. he stared, stony and still.

she yanked her dupatta, caused some more mayhem, dropped pots and tables, sidestepped him and did what a brave person must do. she ran.
but when she had reached safety, she did stop and peer to see what damage she had caused. and she saw him wince. he thought he was alone.

a riot of different emotions touched and sparked the scene. thanks to the two performers i went through all of them.

khushi had no idea how to address the situation, she was in turmoil, but she still had not leveled with herself perhaps.

when anjali fretted about chhotey's terrible burn, she was almost tearful with concern. she fetched the ointment and stepped into his room only to see the angry read weals on his chest and his stoic face. he didn't want his sister's help, he was fine, he'd manage.

with every second khushi's remorse grew.

he bears pain, physical, emotional, without complaining without fuss... he has got to be tough.

a poignant scene. when anjali asked how this had happened, khushi started to reply, "anjali ji, woh... main..."

he cut in brusquely, "kuch nahin hai, di... choti si chot hai! main handle kar loonga. baccha nahin hoon main."

it's nothing, di... a small burn! i'll handle it, i'm not a kid.

he kept the truth from coming out and saved her. why? that protectiveness toward her was already there though he still called her "uss ladki"? beautiful, isn't it.

when khushi tried to apologise to him though, he walked up to his door and closed it without a single word. he shut her out.

there was so much and so many feelings in those moments. and a poised beauty. two young people, a boy and a girl and a world of theirs getting made with a set of fights and feisty words, with gussa and with sanka, with shut up get out and aap shut up... in a space no real estate guy can reach or sell. pristine primal space that only a man and a woman and their unguarded instincts can find their way to.

as that door shut, khushi felt the surge of absolute remorse. he became a real person... not just laad governor or rakshas or even aapke bhai.

he became the "unhe" he had become to her. arnav ji. that's all. and at last she empathised she felt his pain. again a deeply gorgeous moment, characterised by the quietness and clarity of such moments i thought.
she sat alone on the steps and mulled over things, most contrite.

babu ji always said she was foolish, but she didn't know she was such a big bewakoof. when her hand had touched that hot cooker in childhood, "humne rote rote poore navratri nikal di..." she'd cried as if through the whole of navratri.

she is entering his feelings, his pain...  "uss garam chai se unhe kitna jala hoga..." how much that hot tea must have burned him.

sanaya's voice is clear and sad and full of feelings for "unhe".

"hume unse maafi maangni hogi," i must apologise to him she resolves.
and we come to the poolside again.

he is working with his plants, the undone buttons of his shirts reveal a red and badly burnt chest. i am trying not to let my concentration waiver. the dark grey shirt and the loose grey brown linen pants create a different silhouette. the mind wants to stay on such matters.

but a pair of hesitant mojris approach.

she walks up to him and stands waiting, he notices her footwear this time and looks up... he is distant, in his own world.

and he is unwelcoming. "tum yahan kya karne ai ho?" what have you come to do here. rough voice.

"hum... woh.." her face is getting all funny, her eyes are filling up.
he watches her. his gaze growing intent.

her tears have come...

"humara matlab hai ki hum aisa nahin karna chahte the... " i mean i didn't want to do this, she sniffs.

he is nonplussed.

"hum aapko jalana nahin chahte the.." i didn't want to burn you.

her hands come up and in that innocent khushi way comes the most strange line in the middle of an earnest apology, "aaj tak humne kissiko bhi nahin jalaya." i haven't burnt anyone till date. aah so he is exclusive... only he gets to sizzle for her. sorry bad joke.

later we'll learn her tears always dislodged him... he is looking worried now as though he needs to do something. possibly run.

i thought you'd held my dupatta, but you hadn't she wails.

a funny yet tender something comes on.

he  looks around a little helpless as she cries away loudly. nothing subtle about madam and her remorse. gota shining pompom swinging feeling bad this is.

he steps forward, his gardening fork aloft.

she looks at it and her feet go back, she is pretty sure perhaps he wants to strike her.

he lowers the fork and watches her backward step. he is completely unsettled by her spate of tears and stammers out. yes, he stutters.
"toh.. kya pakadna chahiye tha?!"

so, should i have held your dupatta!

how beautifully the heaviness exits the scene and a traipsing, twirling man woman things starts.

"dekho, pehle tum rona band karo!" see, first you stop crying.

yeah, important. he can't take it. even though he snarls at her all the time.at this point, she decides since she is already in this much she may as well dive right in.  and so she exclaims, "aap na? aap bahut ajeeb ho!" you know... you are really strange.

wonderful writing... as relief washes over her, she is a little loopy, her tongue a little loose.

he stares at her, what!

then a quick return, "main ajeeb hoon!" i am strange?!

"aur yeh tum keh rahi ho," and you are saying this. garden fork waves in front of her. stress on "tum". something changes. he is no longer looking at her like she is an "uss ladki". he is unwittingly engaged, and very amused.

you can feel the romance but you must giggle at the absurd exchange and his genuine what the at being called strange by the strangest one of them all.

this is the beginning of ajeeb which will see such intoxicating denouement at a farmhouse one night far away. had i not known it, even then just by itself, just the way it is, this exchange would be etched in memory long and always cause a flutter inside.

she nods. he looks her up and down. it feels like a sexy turn in an intimate yet humorous jig.

madam is now in full confession mode. he is her confessor.
the mishri she had put in the tank.

"aur aapke jooto mein joooce," and in your shoes juuuice!
again the wail. the enormity of her crimes are crushing her no doubt. if she hadn't been so funny, i might have felt bad for her too.
he looks around and can't let the chance go.

"mango juice!" says he loudly and sternly. very head master like.

"woh... santre ka nahin mila na!" didn't get the orange juice, that's why, comes the pure unadulterated sanka touched comeback.

and that is the man's undoing.

eyes narrow, lips purse and begin to slant. that gradual sublime ascent. the lopsided smirk of one mr arnav singh raizada.

we had come to a heartstop moment. music knows it too."hansa toh phansa!" khushi might have exclaimed.

he smiles, eyes alight with a tenderness and mirth. who has made him laugh last? i feel her enter his heart space on that smile, as her tears flow.
in that second, that split second in fact i felt his heart burst open and let her in... no, drag her in and shut the door. no longer will she be shut out. never again.

he fell hard i thought. though of course the shatir tycoon hadn't a clue what had just happened. this was breakthrough point... the real treasure of the game that had started a while ago.

soon the snot has him horrified, then to make matters worse she blows her nose in her dupatta, the cause of all the trouble, then with an "hume jo kehna tha humne keh diya, ab hum jaa rahe hai" i've said what i had to say and now i'll leave... she leaves.

"unbelivable!" says a very handsome very smitten man. the sweetest endearment ever.

intercut with this enchantment was the story of another wealth.. the goddess of it in fact. lakshmi ji.

trying to win nani's heart and get a little time by herself with her friends, la took lakshmi ji out for a walk. and lost her. mami ji said nebher pheares bhen mami ij heres and got fake in... "lakshmi naahin ooke double role hai". i thought of asr's double in 74 and how you know instantly it ain't the real deal. nani would of course know the difference. to prevent things from getting really bad, khushi resolved to to search for asli lakshmi.

no one knew the real priceless stuff had been found at the poolside.

75 is a classic episode. so fabulous i haven't had the nerve to write about it. i will never be able to express the sweetness, the purity, the fun, the bounce, the joie de vivre, the tenderness and the delicate sensuality of a romance here. the reaching out of two people toward each other in a way only they can. barun and sanaya are both so in tune and not a shred of overacting where that might have been a pitfall with many. the funny never cuts down the romance, the romance never smothers the funny, all the while you giggle and guffaw and you dhakdhak and wonder what next. you feel insanely happy.

That last edit, I'm dead!😆 (I've been dying a lot lately, inbhesitgason kareka padi!)
Thank you for doing this episode, it is a very special one. Would it be terribly ajeeb to say that I'm missing these two a lot for some reason.
And we're supposed to buy into the fact that this girl could bring the snake back and justify it!

hi kizh,

thank you, did that edit last night, most of the collages done a long a go... went to bed slightly floaty. 😃 of course, this girl would and could never have brought snake back snake, this is all hogwash time while those were midnight magic days.

i miss them badly too. wrote on fb the other day this very thing:

"there are these days... today one of them, when i badly totally absolutely deeply astonishingly excruciatingly miss iss pyaar ko kya naam doon? i'd give anything to watch an eyebrow go up, a mojri slip off, two hideous black clips, a shiny brown suit, "oh really" sounds like a shakespearean soliloquy, "aap shut up" gives goosebumps. aisa kyun hota hai i might have asked, but there's no one to ask this of. the reams i have written on episode takes, the endless words in fanfic... all of it is nothing against just one new actual interaction between asr and khushi."

rhea and i were chatting about just one new asr khushi scene. aaargh, can ya imagine.

Oh ya, for something new!
There's something so incredibly refreshing about these episodes, and it feels the same how much ever times one has watched them. And yes these two, there was magic there, as cliched as it sounds. And what is  also incredible is why no one thought to work with it again, guess it will be one of those mysteries.
