Ishita came up to Raman who was still kneeling down on the ground. She told him that she would talk to Ruhi, but he refused. He walked over to the kitchen and had Ishita fill a plate of food for Ruhi and him. Then he walked to her room to find the door shut. He knocked on the door since he knew she wouldn't like anyone to see her cry. No reply came and he knocked again after a few minutes and that's when she slowly opened the door for him knowing he would not leave until she talked to him.
"Ruhi, I brought dinner. Together we'll eat together in your room."
"Papa, we're not allowed to eat in the room."
"Don't worry, Papa is here. No one will say anything."
"You go ahead, I'm not hungry."
"Then I'm not hungry either. So can I stay here with you?"
"Hmmm."
She walked to her bed and quickly covered up some of her drawings with some books. Although Raman noticed she was trying to hide something, he didn't bring it up. He sat down next her and asked her what she was doing. She replied by saying she was drawing. When asked what she was drawing, she refused to answer. Instead she tried to divert his attention and asked him to eat.
"I told you, I'm not eating unless you eat with me."
"Come on papa..." she said while whining.
"Come on Ruhi..." he mimicked her.
Knowing he wouldn't give in and will actual wait until she ate, she agreed to eat with him. She sat on his lap and let him feed her while she engrossed herself with her books and drawings to avoid having to talk to him about what had transpired a while back. He also sat quietly feeding her not pushing her to talk. They only talked when the whole pate was empty except for the one thing they both were not going to eat.
"Ruhi eat the drumsticks."
"No Papa, you eat them."
"Please beta, I can't eat them. I can't even shallow them."
"No! I don't like them. You eat them."
"Ruhi, they are good for you. They're very healthy."
"Then you eat them. You need to be healthy."
"I am already healthy, you're a kid. You need to be eating your vegetables."
"Even adults need to eat healthy. Please papa eat them...for me." She said while forming a pout. She brought the food near his mouth and he ate it quietly while making a face. Ruhi giggled at her dad's funny antics. He felt slightly better about what happened earlier when he saw her smile.
Her happiness was short lived because her eyes fell on the paper she had been scribbling on and her smile vanished. Trying to figure out what made her upset again, he picked up the piece of paper.
As he saw the drawing, a tear rolled down his eyes. It was a drawing of a man playing with a small toddler and he knew exactly who that was meant to be. He leaned his head back against the headboard not wanting to see her innocent face that would make him feel guiltier. He knew this time he had let her down way too much, and this time he didn't know what to do to fix everything.
Seeing the lone tear roll down his cheek made her want to cry as well. Why did she have to draw the stupid drawing and why didn't she rip it up and throw it away before he got it? She hated seeing her strong dad cry especially if she was the reason for his tears. She wanted him to stop feeling bad over something that can't be changed now. She knew he loved her ever since her mother came into their lives. She knew he would now go to any extent to make her happy. If it was possible to go back into time, she knew he would just to give her what she wanted.
The father-daughter duo was interrupted by Ishita who came in and told Ruhi it was time for bed and told her to brush her teeth. Raman got up, and kissed her goodnight before leaving her room. As her dad left the room, Ruhi walked away to her bathroom taking her drawing with her to throw away.

Ishita walked into her room to find Raman standing by the window lost in some deep thoughts. She walked up to him and tapped his shoulder bring him out of his thoughts.
"How is she now?"
"Still the same. I put her to sleep, and now you get some sleep too."
"Don't worry Raman, it'll all be okay. I will talk to her tomorrow."
"No, don't bring this topic up again, she will just be reminded of everything all over again and just be more upset."
"Okay. By the way I wanted to ask you something. How did have all the answers to her questions?" Ishita asked curiously
"Because of this." He said as he walked over to the cupboard and pulled out a thick album from underneath his binders and files. He showed to her and she looked at the name on the cover in big letters "RUHI". They both sat down on the bed with the album in front of them.
"Ma made this album when I wasn't here. She had made it for herself, but later gave it to me. It has many of Ruhi's childhood memories with the dates. So I knew when Ruhi said her first word and when she took her first steps."
"See Raman, it's okay now. Even though you missed these moments, you can treasure them through these pictures. And trust me Ruhi knows how much you love her and I know she is upset, but she will be okay."
"It's not okay Ishita. Because no matter how many birthday parties I throw her, I can't bring back her first one. No matter how many times I drop her to school, it won't be like her first day. No matter how many father's day gifts I receive, I will always remember I wasn't there to receive the first one even if it was just a card that was written by my mom. Nothing will be the like it would have been the first time. I will have to live the fact that I missed all those moments."
"Raman you know I also missed those moments."
"I know you did. And that's why I want you to keep this album. The two of us can't go back into time and live this moments with her, but at least we can see what they were like." He said as he handed the album over to her.
"Raman..."she started to tear up overwhelmed by his gesture.
"Keep it with you."
She took the book from him and opened up the first page to see a picture of the two people that made up her life. She sat there admiring the pictures until he spoke up.
"You know something Ishita?"
"Hmm..."
"There are days when I just sit and look at these and wonder how different things would be if I was with her and today when she asked me all those questions, I realized it would have been so much better. I would have so many things to say to her, instead of being speechless like today."
Ishita couldn't do anything, but clutched onto his shoulder trying to reassure him everything would be okay.
"It hurts when she says you didn't love me before, but then again why wouldn't she since I ignored her and left her craving for my love. But Ishita, it's not true. I always loved her Ishita. I always have, but I just didn't have the courage to tell her that. That mole on her face reminded me of the rejection I had got from Shagun. It scared me, what if Ruhi left me? What if she also didn't think I was worthy of love? I know it was wrong to keep myself away from her, but I was scared. Scared of love. My fear made me into a horrible father. I am a really bad father." He said whispering the last few words.
Papa! They heard Ruhi's voice calling out to him. They saw her standing at the door visibly angry.
"Papa I am very mad at you." She exclaimed as she walked up to their bed with her hands on her hip.
"I know." He said lowering his eyes trying to avoid having to face her.
"How can you call yourself a bad father?"
He was still for a second before he could process what she had said. Children are really God's gift. She had forgotten the rejection & neglection she had faced for 6 years so quickly and loved him so much. In fact she had always loved him so much, and now it was his turn to give all the love he had, even if it was only a fraction of what she deserved.
"I love you Ruhi. I love you."
Ruhi on the other hand had heard everything. She was overwhelmed to know he had always loved, but he just didn't express it. And here she was thinking, he didn't care for her before Ishima. But she couldn't believe he was so scared of love, but as silly as it sounded, it seemed to be true. How could she be upset anymore when she had a father who loved her so much. She needed to let him know he was a great father and she loved him no matter what.
"Papa I love you too. You are really the best papa. You always loved me."
She genuinely smiled for the first time in the evening. Instinctively his lips curved into a smile seeing her smile. He hugged into his little angel and held her tightly not wanting to let her go. She also clung onto him not wanting to let him go either.
Ishita quietly walked away from the father-daughter duo as she carefully took out the camera from the drawer and took a picture of the two. The flash of the camera made them break their hug and gave a confused look to Ishita. She smiled at them and showed them the picture.
"You can't bring back those moments you missed, but you can make new moments that we will cherish forever.
