Raji gets off the auto and runs into their house with a face full of excitement...
"Aachiii" she shrieked, while pouncing on her grandma who was sitting on the swing reading a book peacefully...
Although she was startled for a second, she realized right after that it was her beloved granddaughter... "Raji..." she patted her head, tearing up...
Raji's smile fell on seeing her crying... "Aachi enna idhu... Edhuku azhareenga? Naan vandhadhu pudikalai ah?" she asked lowering her voice...
"Cha cha... Appadi illa thangam... Unna rendu varusham kalichu paakuren la... En pethi kku kalyanam pannura vayasu vandhuduchu nnu nambave mudiyala... Evalo seekirama valandhutte nee..." she said wiping her tears and smiled...
"Mhm... Engala laam adaiyaalam theriyalai ah Aachi?" Vishnu asked with a smirk...
"Adade... Neenga ellam eppo vandheenga?" she asked in surprise...
"Unga pethi pinnadiye dhaan vandhom..." Lakshmi said and smiled...
"Sari sari... Ellarum vaanga..." she said while getting up... "Ellarum vandhuteenga... En pethi ah kattika poraa en peran enga?" she questioned with a bright face...
Raji giggled... "Aachi... Avan hero entry kudukanum nnu plan panni vachu irukkan... Idho Vishnu ve ippo dhaan ellathaiyum arrange pannitu vaararu..."
Her grandma frowned...
Vishnu spoke up, "Aachi unga mind voice ah naan catch panniten..." He grinned... "Enna Raji katika porvana avan ivan nnu solreenga... Vaanga ponga, maama, appadi nnu mariyaadhai ah kupidanum... Adhaane Aachi?" Everyone giggled at Vishnu's jokes...
Raji gasped at what Vishnu said... She looked dumbstruck for a minute... "Ennadhu Mama va?"
"Appadi dhaan kupidanum... Vishnu, correct ah sonna da..." her grandma said reinforcing what Vishnu said with a smirk...
"Or Athaan nnu kudiyum kupidalaam..." it was Lakshmi's turn to tease her...
"Enna ellarum enna kindal pannureengala? Karthik varattum, unga ellariyum eppadi left right vaanguraan nnu paarunga..." she said with pride that her Karthik would definitely be on her side...
A few seconds later... They heard crackers blasting before the door, and several boys dancing to Pokkiri Pongal... KVRL and R's grandma were watching the scene in front of them with giggles in surprise...
"Ippo paarunga namba hero entry ah..." Vishnu said increasing their suspense...
Pokkiri Pongal... Pokkiri Pongal...
The boys move aside... And there walks Karthik...
Everyone inside get shocked to see him... He comes dancing and whistling... Most of all his outlook... He had a veshti tied on top of his pants... With coolers, and an yellow handkerchief tied to his neck... Have to say, it was some look... An apt dance for his get-up and he made way with the best entry...
"Hi Hi Hi..." he came inside while waving to the boys and still in dance mode...
"Aachi... Eppadi namba entry?" he asked raising his collar...
"Pramadham... Hero entry ah minjutta po..." grandma replied with the same tone that he had asked...
"Thank you thank you..." he bowed down sarcastically...
Raji was blankly staring at him... He raised his eyebrow as a gesture to ask what?' ... She simply nodded nothing' and smiled...
Lakshmi came back to the earlier convo... "Karthik... Naanga ellam Raji vandhu inimel unna mama' or athaan' nnu kupidanum nnu pesittu irundhom... Enna correct dhaane Karthik?"
Raji opened her mouth to speak, while Lakshmi smirked and squeezed Raji's hand to stop her from speaking...
Karthik giggled... "Kandipaa... Appadi dhaan kupidanum... Raji ippo la irundhee pazhagiko..."
"Thoppi Thoppi..." Vishnu said and laughed in his style...
Raji scrunched her eyebrows and started at Karthik... "Dei... Nee ennaku dhaan support pannuve nnu perumai ah sollitu irundhen... Kadaisiyaa neeyum enna kalaikuriyaa?"
"Raji... En peran eh sollitaan... Olunga mariyaadhai ah kupidu ma..." her grandma...
"Adhaane... Raji ennaku theriyaadhu... Nee enna appadi dhaan kupidanum... Enga ippo oru dhadava kupitu kaami..." Karthik asked with a teasing look...
"No way... Mudiyave mudiyaadhu... Aala vidunga... Naan kelamburen..." she said and ran away to her room...
"Idhulayum semma cute di nee..." Karthik silently thought, while laughing with the others...
Days flew by... They had a great time at Raji's native place... Arrangements were progressing at parallel times in Thirupathi... Their parents booked a spacious village type house for everyone to stay in... Guests were arriving in both places... But most of them would arrive when KVRL leave to Thirupathi with Raji's family who are in their native place...
One evening when KVRL planned to visit the temple... They decided to wear traditional clothing... KV wore veshti and a shirt... While RL wore sarees...
Raji got ready and went to Karthik's room... He was combing his hair looking into the mirror...
Raji looked at him in surprise... As every time, she thought he looked extremely handsome in that outfit...
"Dei Mama... Nee azhagu dhaan da..." she blurted out giggling...
Karthik turned around in surprise to what he just had heard... "Enna sonna?"
She tried hard not to smile... "Adhu ellam oru dhadava dhaan soluven..."
"Hey hey... Please di... En chellam la... Innum oru dhadava sollu..." Karthik pleaded cutely...
She nodded no' with a determined face... "Mhm... Nope..."
Karthik made his puppy face, knowing very well that she'd fall for it... She giggled at his antics and finally gave in...
"Dei Mama nee azhagu dhaan da nnu sonnen..." she said straightly staring into his eyes...
"Appadiyaa?" he asked, staring back...
She looked away.. blushing, unable to control his gaze...
He slowly came towards her...
She frowned... "Ey pinnadi po Karthik..." She backed up a step...
"Dei Karthi... Nee ketaa headph--" Vishnu walked in and then stopped midway...
Karthik got annoyed and closed his eyes slowly... Raji sighed and smirked...
"Oops..." Vishnu smiled absurdly...
"Siva pujai la karadi ndradhu correct ah dhaan irukku da... Nee ellam..." Karthik sighed at his bad luck...
Raji laughed... "Eppodhum solradhu dhaan Vishnu... Correct time kku vandhu enna kaapathiteenga... Romba thanks..." Karthik stared at her...
"Enga neenga vera... Already avan kolaveri la irukkan... Neenga vera eriyura vizhaku la ennai ah uthureenga..." he said looking at Karthik worriedly...
Karthik finally giggled... "Dei, unna maadhiri oru friend irundhaa podhum... World la ellarum romba nalla varuvaanga... Enna maadhiri..."
"Eppa sirichuttiyaa? Nalladhu... Indha headphones..." he handed it to Karthik..."Appo naan kelamburen, en velai mudinjadhu... Neenga continue pannunga..."
"Aaiyayo... Ungalukku munnadi naan escape..." Raji giggles and runs out of the room...
At the temple... They finish praying and KR come to stand by the wall, when VL went for a walk... Karthik leaned on the wall and Raji was stood facing him...
"Sari enna vendikitta?" Karthik asked with curiosity...
She smiled at his bright face... "Indha vaazhkai eppodhum life mulukka needikanum nnu vendikitten..."
He admired her in surprise...
"Edhukku daa appadi paakura?" she asked with a puzzled face...
"Edhuvum venum nne ketkalaiyaa?" he asked...
She pouted her lips... "Illaye..."
He still looked with surprise... "Life la unnakku vera edhuvume vendaama Raji?"
She smiled... "Of course not... Edhuvume idhukku mela ennaku vendaam... Ennaku vendiyadhu dhaan en kitta already irukke... Sandhosham... Neriyaa irukku Karthik... Idhuve podhum... Over ah aasai patta ematram dhaan varum... Appo dhaan suppose edhavadhu nammaku kedaichaa unmai ah sandhosha pada mudiyum... Or else, innum better ah irukkalame, or idhu naan aasai pattadhu dhaane nnu thonum... Adhu nimadhiya tharadhu Karthik..." she spoke with so much of maturity in her voice...
"Unnaku indha sandhosham kadaisi varaikkum irukka maadhiri naan paarthukuren Raji... Kovil la vachu unnaku promise pannuren... Indha kadavul dhaan saatchi..." he said with much love...
She teared up in happiness... "Ennaiyum azhagu vaikkura paaru..."
He raised his hand to wipe her tears, and tucked in a strand of hair behind her ear...
"Ennaku theriyum Karthik... Nee en kuda en kai ah pudichuttu irundhaale podhum... Vaazhkai niraivaiyudum..." she said reciprocating her love...
Both were silent... Too much happiness left them dumbstruck...
After a while... "Anaa sir promise ah meeruneenga... Then indha god unga kanna kuthidum..." Raji said to lighten the air...
"Meeruna dhaane... Eppadi perfect ah irukkom nnu paru..." he said with confidence...
"Sari nee enna vendikitta da?"
"En Raji ah sandhoshama paarthuka ennaku nalla vaazhkai venum nnu ketten..." he smiled...
"Karthik..." she cried this time... "You are really great..."
"Ey enna Raji idhu... Ellarum paarka poraanga... Please..." he said wiping her tears, and holding back from crying himself...
"Naan unnaku thagudhi aanavala nnu kudiyum ennaku theriyala... Anaa nee illama ennala irukka mudiyaadhu..."
"Loosu... Ippadi laam pesinaa, naan pattuku kelambi poiduven..." he said annoyed at her words...
She smiled sweetly... "Sari okay... Rendu perum ivalo senti ah irukom la?"
"Idhuvum serndhadhu dhaan Karthik Raji..." he said proudly... And both giggled...
"Sari indha prasadham... Perumal Koil Sakkarai Pongal maadhiri edhuvume varadhu..." she said proudly while feeding Karthik...
"Unmai dhaan... Semmaiyaa irukku..." he fed her back with the same spoon...
She opened her closed hand and created a small streak of Vibuthi on Karthik's forehead... She tiptoed and leaned towards him to gently blow...
Without a second thought, Karthik took the Kumkum in her hand and put it on her forehead right above her already present streak...
"Inimel nee ennaku pondatti..." he looked into her wide open shocked eyes...
"Karthik..." she started...
"Shhh... Onnum pesaadhe... Enjoy the moment..." he silenced her...
She smiled and both talked through their eyes...
Vishnu and Lakshmi were walking around the temple...
Lakshmi spoke up... "Vishnu nee sonna maadhiri Swamimalai ennaku okay..."
"Paarrah... Eppadi Lakshmi ippadi?" he joked...
"Adhu illa da... Eppadiyum marriage kku apparom naan solradha dhaan nee ketkanum... Adhaan kadaisiyaa unnoda aasai ah niraverthalaam nnu..." she gave back with no less to Vishnu's antics...
"Adipaavi..." he said shocked...
She laughed... "Illa chumma dhaan Vishnu... Enga eppadi irundhaalum okay... Unnakku better half ah aana mattum podhum..."
"Ippove appadi dhaane?" he questioned...
"Of course... But official ah aaguradhu vera illa... Adhu thani sandhosham..." she sighed looking at the ground...
"I love you Laksh..." Vishnu said out of nowhere...
She looked at him... "Me too... Sari enna dhideer nnu?"
"Chumma sollanum pola irundhuchu..."
Avatha Paiyya plays on Vishnu's phone... Lakshmi blushes to it...
He admired her... "Ethana varusham aanalum indha song mattum nammaku appadiye irukkum la..." he wondered...
"Hmm... Vishnu Lakshmi kku trademark idhaane..." she replied confirming his thoughts...
He looked shocked for a second... "Laksh... ? Oh telepathy ah? Okay okay..."
"Adhe adhe..." she giggled...
The rest of the days finally passed by, as it seemed to KR that the closer it came to the wedding, the slower the time passed... They had arrived to Thirupathi... Met with the family members, finished the beforehand marriage rituals, and all...
