Part 7:
The pace of his heartbeats rapidly increased, the breaths deepened which his chocolate orbs darkened. She wanted to annul the marriage?
" Khushi, you know what you are saying right?" said Arnav, holding her shoulder.
" I very well know the words which come out from my mouth, Arnav! You heard what I wanted and now it is upto you if you want to free me or bind me in this unwanted relation!" said Khushi suppressing the angst and pain that was choking her voice.
Unwanted relation? Instead of tears pouring from his eyes, it was blood that was pouring from his heart.
" But Khushi, is this really so easy for you?" asked Arnav, anticipating a negative response.
" Maybe not easy as leaving the country for two months without answers like you but it is definitely not very difficult, Arnav!" said Khushi, as her own words pierced her heart.
Sarcasm hit him hard. He knew she was right here. Her anger was justified but what about his love? It seemed though the physical distance between them reduced since he came back, the mental distance of miles was present. They were always two different directions, but two different directions united with a river of love and friendship but today it seemed as the scorching heat of pain, dried the river up.
Love was not meant to be a bondage and he will not bind his Khushi, even at the cost of his happiness.
" As you wish, Khushi! I will speak to Aman to get into the legalities, ASAP! But is this your final decision?" asked Arnav, hoping the reality changes.
" The final decision was never mine, Arnav! I only took a decision which became my final in that situation! Anyways, I will look for a..."
Khushi's words were interrupted by a call on her phone. She realized her parents daily called her at this time and if she didn't receive the call, they could get suspicious. Hence, she answered the call.
Arnav decided to give Khushi her privacy but went against it when he heard Khushi gasp,
" Kya? Shaadi? I mean why, Mumma?...I am not saying I will never marry but so soon?"
Khushi's parents were searching for future prospective grooms for Khushi? A sudden possessive feeling engulfed Arnav but he was reminded of the fact that Khushi never acknowledged the sacred relationship between him and her so he had no right to stop his ritualistic in-laws from searching grooms for his wife.
---FLASHBACK---
" Khushi, I need you to act as my bride!" said Arnav, pleadingly.
Only if that statement of his didn't have the word'act'. But nevertheless, her world stopped at the point that he had a prospective bride.
" Wow, Arnav! Who is that unfortunate girl who was supposed to be your bride?" said Khushi, trying to hide her pain behind her light words. She wanted to confess her feelings that day, but the destiny wanted to unite them before a confession takes place.
" Khushi, not a time to joke! This is a situation which has so way out other than you helping me! Being from a royal family, my marriage was arranged in my childhood! But the girl's family betrayed us. The girl being my Dadi's choice, we couldn't tell her the truth for I was her favorite grandson and she wouldn't bear the fact that her favorite grandson got a faulty bride because of her!" explained Arnav.
Shocked would have been an understatement to describe the vortex of feelings in which Khushi was bound. Arnav rightfully someone else's before her. All the wishes of confessing came to an end the very instant.
She decided she will help Arnav in whatever way she can. Because her happiness lied in the happy face of Arnav. She said,
" Okay, Arnav! I know I am a very good actor so I take up this project! But why do you need the bride right now? I mean, your family knows the truth right?" asked Khushi, to get a better idea of the situation.
" Actually my Dadi wants to meet my bride as she has cancer and is in her last stage, as you know! So she wants to meet her for the last time!" said Arnav, while tears glistened in his eyes.
" I understand, Arnav! Okay, I will come to your house tomorrow to meet her!" said Khushi, as she wanted to remove all the creases of worry on his face.
" And haan, wear a Lehenga, Khushi! She needs her bahu, traditional!" said Arnav, as the thought struck him.
" Fake to be bahu, okay?" said Khushi, correcting him as his words were wrenching her heart further.
---FLASHBACK ENDS---
Arnav's words came to be true that very next day. She indeed became the bahu of the Raizada Family. Her wish got fulfilled in such a way, that she wished it never happened.
Will this distance of hearts ever close?
