Chapter 17

Rey sat on the porch of his house thinking of a speech and how he's going to convince Mandy that Taani is not what she thought she is. Without wasting another minute he finally gathered all the courage that was left in him and stood infront of the door.

He could feel his pulse rate rise as he raised his hands to ring the door bell but then quickly took it off. Rubbing his temples he went back to the porch.

"Mandy..." he began rehearsing, "I know maine tumse Taani ki baat chupani ..." He paused for few minutes and then shut his eyes ,

"Mandy tumne mere liye bohot kia hai...shayad meri real mom dad bhi nahi karte jitna tumne mere liye kiya.I respect you a lot...and owe you a lot..bohot ehsan hai tumhare mujpe"

"are you serious!!??"

Rey opened his eyes and found Mandy standing behind him with her arms crossed across her chest. she sighed and walked up and sat next to him.

"You seriously think ki maine tumhe adopt karke tumpe ehsan kia hai?? How mean Rey!!!"

Nervous Rey nodded his head in a no , "No Mandy, I mean, main toh bass.."

"Ok enough!!" Mandy gave him a sad smile, "Rey!! we are friends right!! Hum maa bte badme bane..1^st hum dono dost bane the! How could you even think ki you owe me??Infact I owe you! You've been the best son I could ever get!! I mean...look..." Mandy got up and stood infront of him

"Main apne projects, patients ko leke itna busy rehti thi ki kabhi kabhi tumhare lunch box pack karna bhul jatu thi!!! but you never complained!!"

Rey nodded his head in a yes and interrupted, "Ya!! But phir dinner ke liye tum muje 5 star restaurants me leke jati thi to compensate!"

Mandy sighed with a smile and continued, "Jab tum sick the tab I remember main Lucknow mein thi..tume 40 degree ka bhukkar tha"

"But tumne har 10 minute mein call kar karke humari servant ka dimag kharab kar diya tha!! Actually you know usse maine hi idea diya tha to switch off her mobile aur maine landline ke connections kaat diya..so that main peacefully rest kar saku!"

Mandy opened her mouth out of surprise, "OMG are you serious!!!" she jumped next to Rey and started smacking his shoulder, "Such a Moron!! Mera tension kitna bada diya tha tumne"

Rey giggled as he threw his arms around Mandy, "I am sorry"

Mandy smiled as she held his hands, "Actualy! I am sorry!! Main hi over react kar rahi thi!! I should understand that Just because mere saath bura hua mere shaadi ke din, doesnt mean ki tumhare saath bhi bura hoga na??"

Rey gulped "Mandy I promise Taani really mujse pyaar karti hai. Aur ab toh uske dad bhi khush hai. Infact wo toh tumse milna chahte hai and pata nahi..."

"What!!!" exclaimed Mandy. "Did you just say ki wo mujse milna chahte hai??? You mean tumhari wedding??? OMG Rey...finally!!! I am so happy"

Rey stared at Mandy who was smiling ear to ear as she jumped out of joy, "Mandy tum seriously khush ho ya phir..."

Mandy kept her hand on her waist, "I know maine over react kar diya tha and pata nai kya kya kaha tumhe, but now I'm fine!! Maine bohot socha iske bare mein!!tum ek adult ho!! and agar tumne Taani ko choose kia hai, toh that means ki definatley kuch toh baat hai"

Rey sighed out of relief and ran and hugged Mandy, "I'm so happy!!! Thanks Mandy! Thanks for everything!!"

Mandy smiled and hugged him back for few minutes, " acha ab batao ki unke ghar kab jana hai?? I mean engagement phir shadi and all...kitna kaam hai abhi!! Mere eklaute bte ki shaadi hai!!Sabko invite karna padega!!"

Few days later

After few hours of intense discussion with Taani's father, they all came out with a conclusion of having an engagement before the wedding as Mandy wanted Rey to settle in his career before taking up a Taani's responsibilities.

Taani's family loved Mandy and Rey's nature and were all over excited again for her wedding. As they all were celebrating the moment Rey with the help of Tara quickly sneaked into Taani's room.

Taani , who was all upset because she wasn't allowed to go out of her room was busy painting her toe nails. She flipped her hair towards the other side and assuming its Tara, and didn't pay attention to who closed the door.

"How annoying is this!! Mere shaadi ki baat ho rahi hai and I'm only not allowed!!" She looked up at the window all frustrated, "Mummy daddyji kounse century mein hai pata nai. I mean Rey ke saath mein 7 nights spend kiya tha trip pe..and then road trip pe like..2 nights!! And then phir se ye sab drama kar rahe hai ab"

Rey smiled as he folded his arms across his chest and cleared his throat. "7 raat ek ladke ke saath!! Naughty girl ahh"

Taani immediately turned , without wasting a second she jumped out of her bed in excitement and ran towards Rey.

"Tum yaha andar kya kar rahe ho?? aur bahar akhir ho kya raha hai? humari shaadi kab hai? aur reception? Theme kya hai shaadi ka? Tumne kaha na unse ki typical Punjabi style mein shaadi hogi?"

Rey just folded his arms across his chest and stared at Taani with a huge smile.

"Silent film ke hero!!! Kuch toh bolo" grumbled Taani

Rey cleared his throat as he began, "Shaadi kuch saalo badh hogi, pehle engagement hai aur.."

Taani stomped her feat and interrupted, "Ye kya bakwas hai!! kiska idea tha yeh? I'm sure yeh daddyji ka dimag hoga. Unhe pakka lagta hoga ki main bhag jaungi isiliye yeh sab delay kar rahe hai. Main abhi jake..."

Taani was about to storm out of the room when Rey caught her arms and pulled her close to him. Taani who was all annoyed came crashing into his arms.

"Relax balika vadhu!!! "

Taani frowned and looked in the other direction. Rey kept both his arms around her waist and began explaining his stubborn girlfriend,

"Actually yeh sirf unka hi nai par mera aur Mandy ka bhi decision tha"

Taani nodded her head out of irritation as he continued,

"actually muje tumhe kuch batana hai" he paused for few minutes, "you know maine Time travelers show ke liye apply kia tha?"

"Haan" replied Taani

"so...kal subah unka call aya tha and..."

"and?" Taani asked in an exited tone

Rey bite his lower lip out of ecxitment, "and Wo chahte hai ki main 2 months mein unhe join karu"

Taani looked at Rey feeling all happy and proud of him, "are you serious!!!!"

Rey nodded his head as Taani pulled him for a hug, "Congratulations!!!"

"Finally I will get to live my dream!!! Main new York, Japan, Thailand, Greece, Poland aur pata nai kaha kaha jaunga!!! And you know whats the best part?"

"What?" asked Taani as she rubbed his arms

"Maine unhe convince kar dia ki mere saath meri assistant bhi ayegi"

Taani's eyes popped out, "You're kidding me right??"

Rey nodded his head and grabbed her waist even tighter, "saman bandhlo, engagement ke 2 din badh humari flight hai to New York!!!Ms.Balika Vadhu, aka delhi wali girlfirned, aka my new assistant"

Taani jumped out of joy and excitement and hugged Rey back. Her dream was to travel and Rey was letting her do it. She couldn't ask for a better life partner than him. They broke the hug stared at each other all smiling and giggling.

Their new life was to begin. Life where they could have new experience everyday, live in a new place, meet new people, travel different routes and breath in new cities. And the best part was that from now on they could do it all together!!

Rey left her waist and raised his hand as he knelt on one knee,

"So Ms.Shikhawat, will you travel the world with me"

Taani giggled she she caught his hand,

"Yes I will"
