Chapter 43All attempts to call him after that were in vain. She reached his house, her heart beating really quickly, her insides churning with worry.
"Randhir, what have you done to yourself?" she murmured to herself as she knocked on the door. She waited for someone to open it.
She didn't know whether it would be a good idea to notify Parth and Vidhushi about this, but if nobody opened the door, she would have no other option.
The door opened slowly, and a heavy-lidded Randhir faced her.
He looked at her, confused.
"S - Sanyukta?" he asked.
She ignored him and entered his house - it was huge! It looked big from the outside, but from the inside it was much bigger, it was almost like a mansion.
"What in the world does he need such a big house for?" she muttered to herself incredulously, placing both of her hands on her hips.
Then she turned around to lock the door. Once that was done, she faced him and sighed.
"Let's get you upstairs to bed," she told him and picked up one of his heavy arms and placed it around her shoulder.
Then she started to walk, Randhir leaning against her, his weight pushing her down.
"Sanyukta what are you doing here?" he murmured drunkenly.
"I'm here to take care of you," she told him, "Now just follow me."
"Follow you?" he asked. "Where is Sanu? I asked for Sanu..."
She walked up the stairs with difficulty.
"Randhir please, this is hard enough already... you don't need to make my life more difficult by asking hard to answer questions," she snapped. "Who told you to drink so much?"
"Sanyukta... I - I - I love you," he stammered. "I don't - I don't want to lose you."
"Then shut up," she said, frustrated, pulling him up.
"S - sorry," he apologized.
Chapter 44
When she got him to one of the many rooms, she lay him down on the bed. She wasn't even sure whether this was the room he slept in.
"S - Sanyuuu," he slurred drunkenly.
"Randhir shut up and close your eyes," she snapped.
Then she ran downstairs to the kitchen to get some water for him, and by the time she got back upstairs, he was already sitting up, removing his shirt.
"What are you doing?" she asked him, her eyes wide.
"It's hot," he told her innocently.
"Wait... here drink this," she said, sitting down on the bed next to him and bringing the glass to his lips.
He downed it all at once and she put the glass on the table next to the bed and then she assisted him in removing his shirt.
It took a lot of willpower to refrain herself from running her hands all over his body.
"Go to sleep," she said, and was about to get up but he grabbed her arm.
"Why isn't Sanu here?" he asked her.
"She - she's busy," Sanyukta lied. "She asked me to come."
"She - she knows you?" Randhir asked, looking confused. "How?"
"Randhir stop asking so many questions, please sleep," Sanyukta said, praying that he didn't remember any of this in the morning.
"I'm marrying her tomorrow... Sanyukta... I'm marrying Sanu tomorrow. I broke her heart today and I'm marrying her tomorrow!"
She held on to his shoulders gently and lay him down on the bed, her body moving down with his. His arm circled around her back and she fell on top of his bare chest, her lips landing on his skin.
"Randhir let go of me," she whispered, her breath catching in her throat.
Chapter 45
"I broke her heart," was all that he murmured as she rested on top of him, struggling to free herself.
"You didn't break her heart. Don't be upset," she whispered.
"I hurt her Sanyukta," he told her, "I told her I loved you."
"She isn't hurt," Sanyukta told him, feeling her eyes well up with tears. "Randhir, she isn't... don't worry."
"She sent you here because she doesn't want to see me, I am such a bad person," he told her, his words slurring.
She closed her eyes and adjusted her body on top of his so that she was more comfortable. She wondered whether he would let her do this tomorrow... or would he be so pissed off that he wouldn't even want to look at her?
"You aren't a bad person Randhir," she murmured. "Trust me... you have nothing to feel guilty about this time."
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," she replied.
After a few moments of silence, she asked, "Randhir... do you think you could forgive me if I did something that would not only bind you to me for life, but would force you to face your... to face our past and forget it... for a new beginning?"
She opened her eyes and looked up at him, anticipating a response, but he had already fallen deeply asleep.
Chapter 46
In the morning when he opened his eyes, his head was paining... he had a massive headache, and his memory of last night was fuzzy. He looked around to see an empty room... the last thing he remembered was calling Sanu and admitting that he loved Sanyukta.
Shit.
He told Sanu he loved Sanyukta and today was his wedding day.
"Oh my God," he muttered to himself, "What do I do now?"
He picked up his phone and texted Sanu: are you okay?
She replied instantly: Yes Randhir... you were really drunk last night.
He responded: I'm so sorry I know that I said a lot of things when drunk...
She replied: It's okay Randhir, you were drunk. You told me after that you loved me. Everything is okay.
He suddenly felt light when she said that. That meant her heart wasn't broken after all... he let out a huge sigh of relief.
He wrote back: Wedding in the evening, ready?
She replied: Yeah... see you there.
He smiled to himself, and then another thought hit him.
Shit.
He was getting married today! His heart was beating erratically as he picked himself up from the bed, confused as hell.
He pictured himself as a married man, with a woman whose looks he didn't even know, and even more importantly, a woman who was not Sanyukta. The picture was not appealing to him.
"What the hell am I doing?" he said out loud to himself. "What the hell? I can't marry Sanu!"
Chapter 47
When Randhir showed up at her door once again, Sanyukta almost didn't let him in, but she could anticipate what he was feeling, and as far as she knew, she had to make sure that this wedding happened at any cost.
But there was one problem when she allowed him into her house - she had to keep him out of her bedroom, because in her bedroom was her wedding clothes all spread out across her bed and her jewelry and her makeup were on her vanity.
"Randhir what's wrong with you?" Sanyukta snapped, sounding completely irritated that he was at her doorstep once she opened the door.
"Sanyukta, please I can't do this..." he told her.
"You're behaving like you're marrying me," she told him sourly. "Come in."
He entered her place in a frantic manner and she held on to his shoulder warmly.
"Randhir, calm down, it's normal to feel this way before you get married," she told him softly.
"Sanyukta I love you," he told her, holding on to her arms tightly and pulling her close. "I love you. How can I even think about spending my life with someone else?"
She felt her heart lift when he said that, but she knew Randhir... he would say this now, but a few days down the road, he would change his mind from loving her to hating her. He was always indecisive, always confused, and she didn't think anyone would know him better than she did... maybe that was why she was able to let go of the past so easily, because she knew how much it affected him.
"Randhir, you have to marry Sanu," she told him firmly. "I know you love me, and I love you too, but it will be better for both of us and her if you marry her."
He pulled her close to him, hugging her tightly and she closed her eyes, smiling sadly at the way he hugged her, like he needed her right now.
"Randhir this choice isn't yours, it never was... it was a decision destiny made, don't fight it," she murmured. "You can't trump destiny." Edited by ilovepyaar - 10 years ago
