Guys you may have noticed from chapter 5 that the pace has sped up and I am not focusing in depth on emotional state of the characters over the situation. I am trying to get rid of Pakhi as soon as I possibly can😭😆
chapter 6.
A month later, a relaxed and refreshed Pakhi and Ragav return from London. On reaching home, Pakhi immediately calls out for Neetu, "Mum. where are you?" she states excitedly. "In the kitchen," Neetu calls out.
Hugging Neetu, she says, "I can't believe it. I shall be a mother in 8 months. I wanted to come back straight away, but Ragav insisted we stay the month as planned." Ragav stands by the entrance, his gaze drinking in Kalpi's presence, he had missed her so much that his heart had cried out in protest. There were so many times, he had picked the phone to call her... just to hear her voice... but the coward that he was, he never called... always afraid that he would say something he shouldn't if he were to get caught up in his emotions.
Hugging Kalpi, Pakhi says, "Ragav, I can't wait any longer. Can we go meet the surrogate? I am dying..." she completes excitedly.
Neetu, Kamla and Kalpi exchange a nervous glance, for Neetu had not informed Ragav and Pakhi about the change in the surrogate mother. Taking a deep breath, Neetu says, "you are hugging her." Pakhi lets go of Kalpi, her smiles disappearing with confusion, says, "What do you mean mum?"
Ragav stands there frozen, his smile and happiness forgotten as his mind quickly processes the words and comes to his own conclusion. Angry, he meets Kalpi's gaze. Kalpi nearly chokes on the emotions she reads in Ragav's eyes... the anger... the accusation. She was already nervous about the step she had taken, but now having seen his initial reaction, she is scared, her heart racing, as she thinks "omg, he is angry with me."
Seconds later, it dawns on Pakhi what Neetu is hinting at, she turns to Kalpi and hugs her with renewed vigor and happiness, continuously saying, "thank you... thank you... thank you..." Kalpi who has lost all colour on her face does not react... her gaze frozen on Ragav.
Hearing his wife thank the woman he loves for carrying their baby, Ragav snaps into action. He angrily strides over... in the process glaring at both his mum and kalpi's mum for allowing this to happen. He grabs Kalpi's hand and storms out of the room... too angry to consider that his pace is too fast for Kalpi. Leaving everyone confused with his reaction.
Shutting the door behind them, Ragav leans on his desk...just stares at Kalpi who is standing several feet away from him... fear and confusion in her eyes... as he tries to get hold of his emotions. He wanted to cry... to scream... at the card fate has played. He turns away, slams his palm onto the desk... turns... looks at her... then says coldly, "get rid of it."
Aghast, Kalpi looks at him in disbelief... Her hands automatically covering her womb as she unconciously tries to protect the foetus.
She glares at Ragav angrily and says defiantly, "no." Ragav strides towards her angrily, grips her upper arm... His fingers digging into her skin and says, "yes."
Both countermand each other... No... Yes... No... Yes...
Pakhi walks into the study... Stops momentarily as she takes in the charged atmosphere... She calls out, "Ragav let go of Kalpi. You are hurting her. What has gone into you?" She ends in confusion as she forcefully releases his grip from Kalpi's upper arm. "Look what you have done," she says sharply as she points at his finger imprints.
Ragav stares at Kalpi's arm... Meets her gaze defiantly... Too insenced to care. Without a word he storms out of the study.
Concerned and ashamed by Ragav's behaviour, Pakhi apologises to Kalpi and says, "I don't understand his reaction. Kalpi I have to go see Maya. It is urgent. Will you be okay." Trying to keep the pretence of strength, Kalpi nods.
Lol guys... Was thinking out a nice Ragna moment to write and fell asleep
Filled with a sense of sadness... Kalpi stares out of the window... Watching the rain... Tears falling... Confused by Ragav's behaviour. She Thinks, "I don't understand him... Why is he angry?... He should be happy... Maybe he loves Pakhi too much, hence is not happy that somebody else carry their child... I guess he does not want to share such a bond with anyone other than the woman he loves... I was foolish to emotionally entrapped by Neetu... I knew instinctively that Ragav would not be happy..." Crying in earnest she whispers to the empty room, "Ragav, please understand... I love you too much... I have always loved you... You were my first crush... I know how much a child would mean for you and Pakhi... I just want you to be happy."
Hearing a soft click as the door shuts softly, Kalpi turns around. Ragav gives her a sheepish grin, holds his ears in apology as he walks slowly towards her. He was emotionally drained... Never had he experienced so many emotions... His heart racing away at the thought... She is carrying my child... His heart disgusted at the thought... It is not our child... His mind demanding that Kalpi has a full life ahead of her and that this sacrifice was wrong at all level.
Kalpi silently watches Ragav walk towards her, wondering what will he do... Say. Ragav places a trembling palm on her womb... His gaze seeking hers... Silently pleading for her to understand. He pulls her into an embrace and places a kiss at the top of her heard. With a voice filled with agony, he says, "please Kalpi. Please abort the child. I can't bear it. I..."
Kalpi pulls away from his embrace, looks at him imploringly and says, "please Ragav let me. This is your last chance to be a father." Ragav shakes his head... His gesture telling her no... He does not want this. She continues, "if you are worried about me, don't be. I shall just start my career one year later." He raises an eyebrow, gesturing, "oh really. Is that the only thing that will affect you." Flushing, Kalpi says, "doing this is not going to affect me. I promise." As she says this, her mind is racing through, thinking of what she can say that will change his mind.
Taking a deep breath she says, "Ragav close your eyes and now imagine..." Ragav closes his eyes as instructed... But instead of seeing the vision Kalpi creates... He sees a desire that his heart created when he heard she is pregnant... A life.. A future... A family... Kalpi, him and their child.
Her words break through his fantasy, "please Ragav don't destroy this." Not knowing what possessed him... Whether it was the vision in his minds eye... He nods. Seeing her smile at him like he just handed her heaven on a gold platter... He smiles with a heavy heart. Walking away satisfied that she has convinced him, she says, "I am only doing this because I love you."
He freezes... His heart skips a beat as it chants... She loves me... She loves me... He pulls her back to him... His voice hoarse with emotions... Mainly disbelief, "You love me." Kalpi freezes momentarily, trying to keep the panic at bay, thinking, "oh no. What did I say." She covers her faux pas by saying dismissively, "of course I love you. I have loved you since I was a kid... Like you didn't know."
He lets go of her... Her dismissive words piecing his heart... And hears himself reply in a teasing manner, as he unconciously tries to protect himself "... And I am doing this because I love you." Kalpi laughs hearing the absurdity of his statement and walks away.
For several seconds he stares at the shut door... His heart crying out... If only you knew how much truth are in my words.
